You seriously think every gamer has all consoles? When I was younger, I definitely didn‘t have the money for that.
Even now, I don‘t own a PS5, because I don‘t see the point of having one.
"Console Tribalism" exists exactly because people can't afford multiple consoles and must make a choice... Maybe not in UK and US, but what about the other 7bi people!?
For plenty of people it's not that they can't afford it, it's that they feel like they should spend money responably, and buying multiple consoles just is not going to happen.
It's like the extreme sports or phone fanatics. It's everywhere but console players it's something that people have a big community together online so you see more of it in the right places. Plus the companies were in aggressive competition for a long time so that created that customer mentality (since the Nintendo vs Sega days for example).
I think Jez is completely wrong about the whole PS players buying an Xbox after getting a taste.

He's been damage controlling and trying to reconcile in his mind Microsoft's decision making on this subject.
He keeps pretending that it doesn't bother him, but it clearly does, and he's still not being honest with himself and the audience. It's the very reason he keeps desperately searching for the positive angle on this one.
I also don't know why anyone uses him as a source for these leaks after he thoroughly embarrassed himself by calling it "hopium" only for it to come to fruition a mere month later.
His sources clearly aren't aware to what is going on, and judging by RARE's Sea of Thieves frosted glass room and over year long port it's clear that he would have ZERO idea if a Hellblade 2 or Starfield port was in the works

I hate hearing people say Live Service is a risk as if any AAA release isn't a risk nowadays. Like SP are also insanely risky especially new IPs or even spin offs of existing IPs especially when they cost 200+ million in dev costs alone.
I wouldn't overemphasize the fact Sea of Thieves was number one preorder for like one week on the PS store. Doesn't mean it's gonna be a runaway hit.

SIGNIFICANT difference? they don't exist. Sony makes publishers sign technical parity agreements which ensure series x/s and ps5 versions will never significantly differ in favor of xbox. there never was a power crown. its a marketing fiction that fan boys and morons bought into.

I really hope Xbox are inspired by Nintendo and Steam Deck. A handheld with decent, expandable storage at least as powerful as Series S as the games can be scaled back even more for handheld mode and look fine.
Now, where it could get really interesting is a premium 500-600 dollar SKU that has an offer for a Windows licence. Offer it at a discount for Game Pass Ultimate perk or something and then we unlock the ability to dual boot in Windows OS or Xbox OS. Allow people access to Steam and PC Game Pass versions running the Xbox hardware officially as recognized PC components. We would have the option of the optimized version or the ability to play around with PC.
I think that would be incredible, but I am just dreaming. Won't happen, but that would be a terrific evolution in console gaming. It would sell a lot too, along with the handheld. This direction would really set them apart from PlayStation as well 🔥🔥
Those handheld don't really sell tho. Steam deck rog and legion not selling crazy numbers. Only switch. I think it's just console and PC people buying those handhelds not casuals no casuals paying $700 for a handheld and They don't have any exclusives
Yah, but this handheld will have Xbox OS and Game Pass native to it with a TV dock. They would be foolish to charge more than 500 for the portable device. I wouldn't bother with Windows on it either. I was talking for the premium, expensive, traditional model that is rumored. We are also just finally starting to see their studios come around with content too. We should be seeing a ton of exclusives from Xbox in the next few years. With Windows access on an Xbox we would be able to technically play Sony's console exclusives on Xbox and they couldn't do a thing about it. That could be a huge W.@@spectrexr1

I'm wondering when Xbox will ever have an open world game like Ghosts of Tsushima? I miss playing games in an ancient Japan setting. I may have to cross over and once again, get a Playstation. The ultimate in stealth would be a ninja/samurai game in third person. Currently playing Ghost Recon Breakpoint and love it but would love a stealth game with a samurai theme. Why the Assassins Creed people created a scenario in Ancient Japan or the Edo period is mind Boggling. This is going to be a trip to the wayback machine but remember Tenchu? What an incredible game that was. Since one of you mentioned Rise of the Ronin, you must cross over and use a Playstation. Again, I feel this is the only Genre Xbox is really lacking in. Phil already said that ship sailed Ps will always sell more consoles because they lost to Ps4 when so many people bought digital games. So since people not coming to Xbox they will release the games where people are PC, Switch, Playstation

Which is a problem, as that means Xbox leadership.. has completey given up on their own platform (& more importantly, all that 3rd party revenue).
That very much is a death-sprial, even if it takes several years or more. If Xbox leadership gives up on growing their own platform/ecosystem, that'll just further accelerate Xbox's demise. (& possibly, even Game Pass' as well.. as that service aint coming to Playstation/Nintendo anytime soon)

Just like millions of people have a switch and another console or PC. So that makes no sense. They have marketing that say gaming without a console. 360 destroyed PS3 but when PS3 caught up with games people didn't throw away they 360. Ms doesn't care about the console is what it is. And soon it will be gone. No one buying it now when the more popular switch and ps have Xbox games is over

Xbox is going to stay smaller but it's not going away. It just means there won't be a huge increase but as others have said a lot of people are linked to their account. Even me, that joined Xbox late. I still have a lot of digital games linked to Xbox so that's usually my main platform.
I know he's a die hard xbox fan but saying the xbox pad is the best pad with the dualsense on the market is ridiculous. Skipped the ps3 and 4 but own a sx and ps5 now, the difference in quality is immediate as soon as you play with the dualsense

I’m with Rand here. I bought an ASUS Rog Ally to basically be my PS5. I use it mainly for Xbox play anywhere but also to go through the back catalog of PS Studios games when they come to Steam. I have no use for a PS5 now. The same will be for Xbox. And especially so that PS users know these handheld devices make the barrier to entry to PC easier with our games coming day and date to Steam.
The banishers is a wicked game and I put 40 hours into it - got so addicted, such an under rated game

PS5Pro is going to be this gen’s Xbox One X where it’s significantly better experience for 3rd party games. Huge loss for Xbox. I definitely will be switching over to most games on the Pro and few exclusives on Xbox. Which is the opposite as it’s been for me since the Xbox One X.

Halo Infinite was an amazing game so I think they should definitely continue the storyline. But perhaps make it a bit more linear and dark/gritty. Need to re-introduce the flood! Been a Halo gamer since the original.
I think that some gamers might see Xbox differently with their games on PS and helps change the narrative with the critics. But I think overall for gamers in general they’ll just believe the lies that all Xbox games are coming to PS which is bad for the Xbox brand.

Gotta say the youtube comments on xbox two videos suck. Its supposed to be an xbox podcast and yet it seems like almost all the comments are hating on xbox and are playstation fanboys. Criticism is fine but i find it weird that i can tell the majority of comments are just posted by playstation fanboys who have no actual interest in xbox. Not sure what to do about it though. You guys do a good podcast . I wish the comments on here were a bit more even handed
They’re not fanboys tho because they are bringing up legitimate criticism. The comments have been like this ever since xbox started giving their exclusives away. Jez has been having bad takes ever since and has just been coping. Making the dumbest points and now people are just realising. Sure there are some fanboys here and there, but the rest are just people just commenting what they think, if they’re just PlayStation fanboys, reply and prove them wrong. Exactly,people like me who have spent the best part of 15 yrs on xb are really disgruntled,I havent turnt my xbox on for 6 weeks but I've been spending more and more time on my ps5...(spreading democracy) and in turn spending money in the playstation store and not the Microsoft..there has been 0 reason to own a series x,most games this generation (and the last)have been a massive flops,plus 3rd party games are skipping xb..logically it just makes sense to own a ps..gamepass is ok but I don't care about 98% of the games in there

It's not just legit criticism. stuff like saying hellblade 2 will be 5 hours ( which is wrong , the original was longer than that). Or that that no one is buying an Xbox( series is selling about as well as Xbox 360 launch aligned ). Don't add anything to the discussion and are wrong and yet are upvoted.

I played Cyberpunk for the first time after 2.0 launched and went guns blazing and gave it a 10
Disagree with Jez about the uniqueness of Cyberpunk, those NCPD missions are all the same, killing the 1 of the 4 factions (tyger klaws etc) over and over for a loot box. Locations externally maybe different but the interiors are the same, the main missions are mostly talking and jank. It has some highs but its a downgrade compared to Witcher 3 and its story out comes.

What xbox is doing is dumb IMO. Especially if no games from other platforms come to xbox players. But HB2, Starfield, Gears & other xbox branded games go. I will unsub from GP. Im not locked in digitally like they said in this video. I still buy games.... So losing GP is no big deal. Showing more love & attention to A platform who for years blatantlly bullied you with no remorse. But you don't really care to polish games for those on your own platform... Who were with you while you were'nt doing anything for them. You could not even give your own consumers A full year to enjoy being A xbox player. I have no problem dropping GP & I am A yearly subscriber. No $1 or monthly sub-er. I will no longer give MS/XB my money on A continued bases.

If it’s a 44% increase like Ps4 to Pro, don’t think that many people clamber to it. 44% in power does not translate to 44% higher FPS or better graphics because diminishing returns. Will probably be around 20% better quality aka if their side by side you may notice.
4K 60, 1440P 120 upscaling bundled with either death stranding 2, gta6 and most likely another highly anticipated PS title such as wolverine was always the plan. Even at 699, It will sell.

Highly doubt it. Most people didn't buy the PS4 PRO or the One X. Mid gen refresh consoles are for the hard-core and the hard-core are the minority.
Now Xbox seems to start bringing their exclusives to Playstation, a €500 Xbox console seems like a bad investment if you already have a Playstation, and especially bad when you have a pc. And on pc I'm not on the Xbox platform, but I'm on Steam.
So when it comes to profit for MS it's not comparable to when I bought everything on my Xbox console for the last 22 years.
I still haven't decided to get a PS5 or a Xbox for Gta6, but my preference for Xbox is waning, and rationally I probably should go for Playstation.

Xbox is flirting with the idea of seeing where their games sell best. & if that means their own games sell better on Playstation/Nintendo, that'll just mean they'll continue porting more of their games over there (while at the same time, selling fewer Xbox consoles because they hold less & less value to the average customer).

Sony doesn’t make developers sign shit. They just optimise for ps5 because that’s where their game is going to sell the most, that’s the market leader. Parity clauses are probably out there tho but it’s not every developer.
Not happy about MS not having a response to the PS5 Pro. Xbox is falling more and more behind. I do play 1st party games on my high-end PC, that's not the issue, but i would also love to be able play all 3rd party games with my xbox account and earn achievements. MS' "every screen is an xbox" is so half assed, Windows store is neglected, nobody bothers to release games there, you can only earn Xbox achievements on PC with 1st Party games or when games happen to get on Gamepass and not even there all games have it as far as i know. I'm refusing to play games on my Series "600p-30 fps" X.

CEO didn't clearly say.. anything. He just said Xbox was "excited to see how this experiment turns out". When asked about other games, Phil basically said "not right now but never say never".
& As Dusk Falls, Grounded, Pentiment, Hi Fi Rush.. all came out second half 2022 & 1st month in 2023. Those games didn't take "4 years".. hell, just a lil bit over a year.
So yeah, if thats the policy.. most people will wait a year or so to see which Xbox games come on over. Cant say I blame them.
