My best advice is get on plane and go back to your home country if you need to be in hospital for major medical, Home is USA for me. Hopefully if you need it you can get back home. I was hospitalized near Davao City in a private hospital, Outdated equipment and lack of it. I broke my hip on a freak motorbike accident, ortho did surgery and used a part to small for my body, didn't walk for 10 months until I made it back to USA to have my hip replacement redone. I have also heard St. Lukes in BGC is good, but I still will take a US hospital anyday over any hospital in Philippines.

Yes but at the same time to keep Medicare going with part b c and d you would be paying maybe 300 a month and not even be able to use it. That would add up year-in and year-out just waiting to be able to use it not counting the trip back to the States and then back to the Philippines.
I would think drop Medicare, Humana and all of those and just pay out-of-pocket to doctors in Thailand. A person needs to be disciplined to take that money each month that you would be paying Humana in the states and make sure it goes into a bank account in the Philippines for medical emergencies or just go ahead and buy the insurance Michael is talking about

It’s because they don’t like us anymore. They used to. But. No more. I’ve never experienced prejudice in my life until I went to the Philippines. They don’t like us. They know why we live there with our big pensions. And the cheap cost of living there. And a lot of them are jealous. They are. They are.

The hospitals at Manila arebworld class. In fact, the VA in Manila employs Filipino doctors only. Filipino doctors were trained under American established medical school system. It's the same as the US, 4 years college, 4 years medical school, 4 years residency. Outside the Philippines, all you need is a high school diploma to enter medical school like Thailand.

Useful vlog. A comment on travel insurance for those Aussies who stay in PH. You can usually suspend your private health insurance which doesn't cover you overseas and hence will offset the cost of the travel insurance. Bear in mind some travel insurance companies won't provide cover for more than 90 days, or at all, for those over an age cutoff e.g 70

What this guy is not telling you is any pre existing conditions will make your insurance coverage in the Philippines very high premium per month especially if you're over 60, so you will have to be aware, your on your own, so better off to save money every month and invest for your hospitalization and perhaps treatment, this is much wider than building a house in the Philippines you will never own

I find that for Americans, Cigna International to be the best. It's very price competitive. For someone who is a healthy 30 years old with $1,500 deductible, the premium is only $250 a month (this includes coverage for both the Philippines and the USA). It's their SILVER policy with $1,000,000 coverage each year. It covers accidents, cancer, mental health, hospital admissions, suegeries, etc. For an additional $25 a month, you can also get wellness coverage, but why would you when it's less than $150 for such a wellness visit in the Philippines.

I wished every youtubers would include the cost of Health insurance in every damn budget video we see on these channels. It's a subject that's missing in the "I live in paradise" theme unfortunately. You need a hip replacement, cancer treatment, rehabilitation treatment whatever.
It's good that you did see the importance of this. As a soon to be retired, even if I'm 53 and healthy now, you never know when your number will come. The cost of not planning ahead for when the shit hits the fan can literally turn paradise into a hellish reality.
    Bad luck doesn't discriminate.

So, if a person were to move to the Philippines and had a pre-existing conditon such as COPD...are you saying that no insurance plan would cover it up to one year and even after that it would be a higher premium? If so, how would a person get medicine they need for that year waiting period (inhalors, nebulizer medicine, prednisone, etc...) and also what about the cost of prescription drugs for preventative maintenance? Such as Statin's, Flomax....things that older gentlemen perhaps need to prevent disease? If someone answers please answer in US dollars and not peso's. It almost seems that is you have any condition with your health...do not move to the Philippines?
Also, doing research...if you are on social security in the US, you still will get your monthly payment...however say bye-bye to medicare in the Philippines. You will have one of 2 choices. Either cancel it (Your part "B") or keep having your part "B" deducted and you can return to the US for health care if needed. Is that correct?

He said you are looking at 16,000 pesos minimum a year for health insurance for an under 65 year old. That must be very basic or have a huge excess.
I’d be wanting something in the 36-50,000 peso a year range with an excess not more than 10,000 pesos.
