I wish the album had 1 or two more songs as well. The band sounds really motivated and inspired here and I bet any additional tracks would have had that same quality. I can’t stop listening to damnation. That damn chorus and the build to it 🤘🏼

Great review. Thanx for making the wait even more painful 😉

Oh my gosh this is such a refreshing way of analyzing music, you use very precise wording and you get very abstract, you make me start thinking about the purpose of music itself and what does, and doesn't work and why. It feels like I'm assessing things as well as you not just the album but metal, and even just music and even art, like your not just reacting to the album but observing it, wonderful job my friend.

I like what you are saying and deciphering about Blind Guardian, absolutely great in assessing the album, and the band members, and music, this is definitely where your strength lies. Love this!!!!

I was listening nothing but "Colors II" by BTBAM for like 2 weeks straight until this album, man what a great fucking album, fast melodic and Hansi's voice is better than ever

Absolutely beautiful review, I was hearing the album while you were talking about it. Great flow, I’m so happy you like it that much and especially the fact your 3 favourite songs weren’t one of the singles, that tells a lot about the quality of this record! My favourite band for a long time and they never disappointed me, even their worst album would be excellent with another name, they put the bar so high since 1990, that’s crazy!

Listen to Somewhere Far Beyond and Imaginations From the Other Side. Much better, more aggressive albums.

Having listened to this album only once so far, I can easily say it's their best since ANATO. I really appreciate that they deviated from their orchestra-heavy sound that was present in their last two and went for more straightforward heavy songs. But I agree, the album does feel pretty short, especially since this was 7 and a half years after last. While I enjoy all the songs to varying degrees, I do have to admit that the song Destiny feels rather weak for a closing track. It starts off promising, and I really dig the heavy riff at the beginning, but from then on it doesn't really keep up that same energy and becomes... I dunno... "mid-tempo?" I'm not a music critic by any means so I'm not sure if that's the right term. Besides that, I think the album is overall a great release and definitely one of their better late albums. Here's hoping the wait isn't too long until their next, and perhaps even a "part 2" to this album, because I definitely want more of this.

I think Blind Guardian is the only 80's old school band whose new releases are as good as the old.

51 minutes is ridiculously short for a blind guardian album 😩 saddest thing we are going to have wait 5-6 years for a follow up

Maybe shorter. ATEOT and BTRM was 4 years, and then another 4 1/2 years to Twilight orchestra and now 2 3/4 years to God machine. I guess 3 1/2 years until the next one because they got their huge project off the chest after 23 years in late 2019 - we'll see

Don’t forget some of their best albums were short too, Somewhere Far Beyond, Imaginations from the Other Side, Tales, etc. This album seems to be a modern version of their early works with a lot of intensity, not over produce like their records since A Night at the Opera (don’t get me wrong, I truly love those records too). I think it’s a great mix of old and modern BG!

Unrelated to music, but i recognize the album art. It's from Angelarium, where they do art of various named angels and i think Zodiacs. This particular character is their piece of Gadreel, which they gave the title "Angel of War". Kinda weird seeing it as an album cover, but it looks good though.

The last really good album from BG was "A Nightfall In Middle Earth". This one is just mediocre.
