I love how intently John is listening to Bobby. You can tell he really appreciates being a part of the Experience.

Yes it's hard to describe= sort of a blend of folk and mountain music jug band music, country and blues all held together by improvisational jazz . Merle Haggard, Rev Gary Davis, Furry Lewis, Jackie Wilson Elizabeth Cotton and Miles Davis all in the same number The perfect synthesis of musical Americana and a body of work that will grow in stature as generations go on, just like all great classical music

Great responses from both "Lorax" & "John-Boy!"
    1) GD music as idiom - Bop, for example...
    2) The number of various styles in GD repertoire educate your playing not only in the given style, but also opens doors to learning to play other styles!
    3) Therefore, learning guitar via GD tunes may create a better musician than by [listening to / learning from] any other band
    Well done! :-)

World Music you speaking of, all music is beyond realms of time and space. You cannot compare Mayer with any prior member of the dead, even worse than Donna.... That's bad huh, Sorry I think he's a great guitarist and he has amazing skills, but their are others I could think of to fit into those big ol shoes he's filling in for their, he even said himself " were playing and making pop music," ( no but you are ) as a definition of tbe deads music, that's one thing about the dead in years of past, they were a Lil of everything, rock, funk, jazz, country, soul, etc & improssiving, magic in the air & oh so Much More.

Right. What exactly is he doing there? Or Bruce Hornsby? Or Keith and Donna Godchaux? They're not a match, and the Dead never needed them
