I’ve been in Korma as a bus driver picking up children who suffers from Chernobyl and bringing them to Belgium. I have done this 3 times. Once I stayed a week with the locals. Belarusians are very warm and nice people. Where I was after a few days , the father of the house send their family away, because he had not food enough to feed me and my colleague. I try to give them money, but he won’t accept it. So I hide the money in the room where we slept. Afterwards they found it and send me a nice thank you letter. This video and helping the people there brings back good memories.
Really?! Wow! So unusual that CZcams suggested the video to you where I speak about Korma) I know that a lot of people from Italy and Belgium hosted children after Chernobyl disaster. But I’ve stayed in Germany) Happy to see you here 🥰 Best regards!
I don't know if there's some people who are focusing on poverty but for me I am focusing on the beautiful nature and the calm atmosphere which is something that you can't buy with money these days because peace of mind is the real treasure not money. I am adding this place to my list to visit it someday , great work you did on showing us this beautiful video
I grew up in the countryside and whenever I return there I feel an innate sense of peace and wellbeing, something I don't really get where I live. I believe unrestricted access to nature is so important for us as organic, spiritual and social creatures. That seems to be disappearing. Bizarrely it feels much lonelier living with a hundred others, stacked in little boxes on top of one another, than it does being surrounded by empty fields. Then again, somebody who grew up in the city might feel the opposite.
Katsiaryna, You may consider your birth-place "poor" in terms of money but, look around you! You're so *rich* in natural beauty, clean air and sunshine, away from pollution, city traffic jams, artificial noise (instead of the sound of birds, chooks and cows grazing), and above all, the unbearable stress that people living in small 'shoe-boxes' in cities suffer daily. You are blessed dear girl! Best wishes from a distant "grand-father" from Australia. 😃😃
I'm from Brazil and love Belarus❤🇧🇷🇧🇾 Beautiful country: The villages are organized goods, the peaceful life in the countryside and the presence of animals! ❤💚🏡🍅🐓🍶🍄 I WILL SUBSCRIBE to the Channel!
To be poor is not a shame, but rather brings out the beauty of oneself. You live in a very beautiful place and thank you for sharing with us. Respect and love from a South African Boer.
I love the place where I live no matter the fact that we struggle in economic terms) The beauty of my home is something that I miss wherever I go) Thank you!)
This is the richest ecological environment. Very impressive to see such a wonderful landscape. Pure oxygen will prevail available. Best place to live in this peaceful hamlet.
thats why so many belarusians dont want west and europe, after joining eu here in lithuania many land was sold to foreigners and many green fields/forests destroyed in order to make factories, new tech stuff etc, even in cities it became urban hell, while in past in soviets times it was all green.. ik lukashenko is far far from good leader, but EU is not perfect too.

Most people in NY would consider this a luxury vacation. One of the biggest fallacies of the west in recent times is the belief that money is the most important thing in determining quality of life.
It’s romantic to think living in an undeveloped country off the land will bring you a better quality of life but in reality it’s a pretty brutal unforgiving way to live. A lot of unnecessary death pain and suffering. Life expectancy birth related mortalities and so many other things that you take for granted in the city. If you think living in the city is rough you are not going to cut it out in the country. There is a money ceiling one you reach it your life doesn’t get much better and that is the reason people are unhappy they are prioritising a little bit more money but not getting a fair pay off. Money is not the only important thing but it’s the solution to most problems for people who haven’t hit that money ceiling yet.
'Vacation' is the nessesery word here. Once this becomes the only life you have, most things you are taking for granted right now would be wiped out. My parents' families originated from similar environments, and although not perfect, modern city life is definitely easier. It's not even about money in most cases.
Peaceful life is all a human being wants at the end of the day. And your town is rich in that. Worth a visit I guess. You have successfully gained one more subscriber mam. Lots of love from india 🇮🇳
A peaceful life is all a human being wants if they were conditioned for such. You take most people who grew up in a big city, and they'd be dying of boredom in a town like this. It is very important what you were conditioned for.
Beautifully presented by a young woman who spoke English extremely well. I watched a documentary about Belarus several years ago and I thought then it would be a pleasant country to visit, all praise and thanks to the lady presenter.
Beautiful. This reminds me very much my childhood. I grew up in Poland, in quite similar environment. We used to have 1,5 hectare of our own cropland, with 2 cows, some 6 pigs and plenty of hens, ducks, rabbits and other live stock. We grew all vegitables alone. We cultivated the land alone, but we did not have any horse and my father was always borrowing the horses from his more wealthy neighbors. I have smelled similar flavor of such life again, while travelling in Belarus some 25 years ago. I am missing that so much, however I know how difficult the life on such a farm is. There is plenty of work every day, even on Sunday the animals need to fed and the cows need to be milked. Everything is far away, school, church, shop, friends. But we constituted a real family - working together, spending time together, sharing good and bad things together. Working on this small farm was a good school of life. Later our farm burned down and was never rebuilt. My parents went to work and our lives have changed.
Sorry to hear about your farm 😞 It is tough to live in the village. But when I look at how machinery can make everything easier than before, you may give it a try. As for the livestock it is a huge responsibility to look after all of them. Farmland has its blossoms, but before getting it you must go through dirt.
Living simple life doesn't mean that one is poor. It is possible that less resources are used & hence people have less money but it seems nature is abundant. Beautiful video.
Correct. Western society invented the silly idea of poor and rich but in reality, lot of "poor" people have a much richer life in "poor" countries than westerners in their tiny flats that they repay for 20-25 years.
Money is measure of cost of any physical thing. Money itself is not a commodity. Only money will not suffice & in the end physical things required. To ease the transaction, money came in practice. In future, this money model may get changed.
Warm greetings from central Poland from another enthusiast of life in rural area, nature, self-sufficiency, local communities of mutually supporting people.
I had my ex girlfriend who was from Minsk but often we visited the countryside as she LOVED to go there.... went all around Balarus by rented car... good memories of a troubled relationship, but many great memories... It was not tranquil and peaceful between 1941 - 1945, caught in the middle of the biggest war the World has ever seen, Nazi Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union, called Operation Barbarossa. It is very nice that it is peaceful now, but I wonder if the ghosts of the past linger, either in the minds of the older population, as told to them by their parents and grandparents who were lucky to have survived it. Ukraine lived through it too, and continues to suffer so badly now as we all know............
Since I get a lot of comments on poverty and comparisons, I would like to clarify some of the notions: 1. The aim of the video was to show the contrast with the regions within Belarus (for example, the city of Minsk is richer in these terms than our entire Gomel region and Korma district!). I did not compare the subsistence minimum of Belarus and other countries like Kenya and other countries of Africa, etc. The subsistence minimum is calculated in regards to the well-being of a Belarusian economy. 2. Being poor and live in poverty are two connected but different notions. I am aware of worldwide hunger and poverty in certain regions. It pains me to say but we are lucky to have the possibility to cultivate land and get produce to survive. That is why we do what we do: agriculture - one of the main sectors of Belarusian economy. 3. The wages (salary) given in the video are before taxes. It is a monthly salary! This amount is enough to pay for utilities and food. No more than that.
You guys are self sustained, that's not poverty. I live in cosmopolitan rich city, earnings here is 10 times higher, but life is hard. We live bill to bill. Compare to ours, Life is much better in third world country than first world countries. Poverty is in USA, UK, and in EU. I saw Romanian and Iranian guys selling tea in Nepal, they are much happier there.
I am from South Africa...my village is NOT as poor as the whole so called civilised world think. Most of the pathetic stereotypes will vanish when one travels.

How are you so stupid that you serve the American war machine, and don’t even get paid for it? Or are you paid? We did install the Ukrainian government through a violent coup, and our state department, an active military major Tulsi Gabbard and state department goon Victoria Nuland have all admitted that we are running at least 25 bio labs in Ukraine on Russias border. And it looked like it was the exact perfect temperature outside for just not going back in the house for a while. Stay out there, enjoy some sunshine, and live life. You packed a lot of emotion into this video. Thank you.
I totally agree. Reminded me of my grandmother homestead in phx that no longer exists. I’m glad I had a chance to live there for a season worth oranges, grapefruit and pecans , pomegranates love this life and land
Reminded me of my great grandmothers house. She was widowed with 8 children and took in laundry to exist. I always wondered where she got water to do other peoples laundry as there was no obvious water source nearby. People were tougher back then. I still remember the smell of baking bread from her wood stove.
We need to perfect that teleportation technology so we can pop over there for a weekend and have a big party or harvest festival or something. And the locals will rake in the cash renting out air BnB's and selling local cuisine.

Thank you! I fully agree with you, it is getting harder these days to find quietness! The war is one of the most terrible things that is happening for the past decades... Never have I imagined that it would happen right at my doorstep, though I remember when we were studying the basics about Belarus: its history, geography, climate, economy, etc. There were lots of professors saying that one of the most unlucky aspects of our country is the strategic position in the centre of Europe inbetween 2 power states. They warned about it even when I was a pupil. It makes me so sad and angry that there is no count to wars, conflicts, hatred.
@@estherscegolsky1972 Yeah the issue with Belarus's position is that it would be immediately surrounded by NATO states if NATO ever attacked, which is why it is so important Russia takes back the former Russian lands so that they can push the front lines to near the mountains where there are choke-points.
@@BringDHouseDown , great analysis. Russia is such a flat plain, it would serve as a great place for defeat. However, the relative mountainous regions in the surrounding former Soviet satellite states would serve as bottlenecks.👍🏻

This is so simple, yet tells your story so well, as though I am right there with you as you narrate it. I live in India, where a lot of people live in poorer conditions than in your country ... REALLY poor. And there are millions of them in this condition. I have found that some of the poorest people who earn their wages on a daily basis are also some of the happiest I have seen. They don't know what the next day will bring and so, they live for that day, for that moment. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence and people living in cities praise the clean and simple living in the countryside and people in the country are starry-eyed about all the "glitz" of the cities. The old Soviet countries are such a mystery to a lot of people around the world and such videos brings us a picture of how people live there. Thank you very much for bringing out such a simple, yet powerful video.

A lot of beautiful imagery, even if it is a poor country. Much of the scenery made me feel nostalgic about the place I grew up in. My ancestors were in the Ukraine for some generations, and migrated, first to Canada and later to Mexico, where I was second generation born. A lot the architecture and the country scenery was very similar to what we had back home. My people are German and Dutch Mennonites, but I see that we adopted a lot of Russian and/or Ukrainian culture from the time we were there. Cuisine, language and architecture. This video was a pleasure to watch.

My family left Belarus, then part of Russia, for America in 1898 due to the poor treatment of us Jews there. My grandparents told me stories about what their parents experienced in what's now called Belarus, and it was rough to say the least. Just google Pogroms. We had been there for about 350 years or so by that point. It's also why most of the men in my family who were born in the US, myself included, are US military veterans. The part of my family that did not make it to America, as not all my great grandfather's family made it to NYC, did not survive WW2. There are many reasons why the US has what it has, and some of it is due to how comparatively tolerant the US is. It is not a perfect country, but it is a damn good one.
@@mikenyc1501 Damn good one only to the Americans. You'd be surprised to know the amount of people who wish death and destruction for America for the crimes your country has committed.

It is actually one of the most repressive dictatorships in the world with about 1,500 political prisoners tortured in prisons every day, including a Nobel peace prize laureate.

Richest countries, it's my opinion ❤️🙏
I grew up in the countryside and whenever I return there I feel an innate sense of peace and wellbeing, something I don't really get where I live. I believe unrestricted access to nature is so important for us as organic, spiritual and social creatures. That seems to be disappearing. Bizarrely it feels much lonelier living with a hundred others, stacked in little boxes on top of one another, than it does being surrounded by empty fields. Then again, somebody who grew up in the city might feel the opposite.
I'm from India. I also never see here proverty. But lots of richness of nature.
Exactly!
Katsiaryna,
You may consider your birth-place "poor" in terms of money but, look around you!

Most people in NY would consider this a luxury vacation.
One of the biggest fallacies of the west in recent times is the belief that money is the most important thing in determining quality of life.
Shut up fella. If I freeze your assets/bank account...what quality of life would you have?? No food, shelter or water.
"Most people in NY"? In what universe? Speak for yourself.
Prepare to live n d farm quite and simple no compitation as long as water n electricity available is a big ok for me

If you have someone you're happy with and food and a safe place to live then what else matters?
A peaceful life is all a human being wants if they were conditioned for such. You take most people who grew up in a big city, and they'd be dying of boredom in a town like this. It is very important what you were conditioned for.

Beautifully presented by a young woman who spoke English extremely well. I watched a documentary about Belarus several years ago and I thought then it would be a pleasant country to visit, all praise and thanks to the lady presenter.
Thank you ☺️
Sorry to hear about your farm 😞
It is tough to live in the village. But when I look at how machinery can make everything easier than before, you may give it a try. As for the livestock it is a huge responsibility to look after all of them. Farmland has its blossoms, but before getting it you must go through dirt.
How sad. I do hope your folks are settled now. Best wishes from Scotland.
Most polish people in the US are pretty well off. I love the people, and I'd like to visit Poland. God bless.

Good philosophy but you need money for health, education, clothes etc. not grass and rivers.
Money is measure of cost of any physical thing. Money itself is not a commodity. Only money will not suffice & in the end physical things required. To ease the transaction, money came in practice. In future, this money model may get changed.
@@joshjenesiss Poor doesn't mean no access to healthcare or clothes. Let's forget education.
Poor is a mindset. A mental state. To live poorly is less about a life without luxury and more about incorrect or non useful thoughts and ideas.

Is there a place where I can work on my Porsche if I move there
Spot on! Greetings!
@AboveItAll I cant even start to Imagine what went on there. Glad to hear all is back to normal
@Dan Rook I thought a Porsche was suppose to to never break?
Since I get a lot of comments on poverty and comparisons, I would like to clarify some of the notions:

@@BringDHouseDown , great analysis. Russia is such a flat plain, it would serve as a great place for defeat. However, the relative mountainous regions in the surrounding former Soviet satellite states would serve as bottlenecks.👍🏻
@Martin Cregan ..... NATO did not disband when the Soviet Union already collapsed, and when Russia asked to join, they were refused, that makes NATO's intentions very clear.
The modern Western people* have no interest in attacking Russia.....can't say the same about the globalist governments in charge that are more anti-European than I$l@m though.

Wow absolutely so wonderful village of Belarus and one of beautiful country with nice landscape. So wonderful atmosphere and charming and sweet people their. I Love you so much Belarus and every people of Belarus. Bless of god.
Poor or rich everyone have to admit that this place looks beautiful and has this nice countryside vibe
It may be poor but is rich in nature, so much greenery and tranquility, I wish my country (Malta) was that rich in Nature.
And full of Soul ! I would love to live in it :). In my country (Belgium), one would give a lot of money to buy such a house. Blessings to you All !!!
This is a wonderful video. It shows how most of Europe used to live before industrial agriculture. It's bizarre that so many people in my country wish to get an acre or so of land and be as self-sufficient as possible; how life used to be, where if you work hard and make the best use of your land, you get rewards, not like today, modern life is rubbish. Thanks for sharing.
You will own nothing and you will be happy
Agree.
nice
Modern life is rubbish. That's true. It has fake values.
Because like it or not many will be forced to live old ways manually in coming future

It is yet another footage showing Belarus I have seen. Belarus seems to be a wonderful country. One day, I would like to visit this place and see all the sights and enjoy nature. Greetings from Poland!
The landscape reminds me a lot of the Canadian prairies, Manitoba in particular. So many Ukrainians and Eastern Europeans settled Western Canada- including my family. After traveling to Ukraine, and seeing the similarities of the land, I understand why. Beautiful video, thank you for sharing. I hope to visit one day. ❤️🇨🇦
It is interesting to see that many emmigrants settled in places that reminded them their home
muddy waters
This is exactly the type of place I want to live in. I hate overcrowded cities.
I wouldn't mind living here, get away from all the rubbish going on in the World.
Count me in too..
For,I have already packed..😂
Me too i like to lived in this beautiful place
2 weeks down the line u will pack up and start-back to city...I have experienced myself...Those places are so beautiful that u cannot stay beyond 2 weeksAfter that u feel suffocated by the agony of silence !!! We city dwellers have become like that. Most of socialistic countries are like that. For a person who has grown-up in such a place for that person city makes him feel like how we feel in a village probably!
I have such a beautiful place in my village. I feel lucky now

Thank you for my first "visit" to Belarus! It doesn't look too terribly different than parts of the US midwest, where I grew up. I would feel at home there...peace.
Hey, James. I'm in SE Nebraska and when I saw the vegetation and roads and maybe the ramshackled structures..that's exactly what I thought. That could have been shot right here!
You would not be at home there living under a totalitarian dictator
@@seybertooth9282 If they are isolated..and it looks that way..they may not be affected by the government. Lukashenko (President) is no doubt under the shadow of Putin but is considered independent since the revolution in 1918.

It looks identical to the farmland north of Flint Michigan. BTW Belarus Is a sister climate to Michigan .

Villages are always nice and soothing to look at. It's almost the same here as well. The greenaries, livestocks, vast empty lands are its assets. Old houses and childhood memoirs of village life are the things which give us joy when we walk down the memory lane.
The music and style of narration COMPLETELY corresponds to the Belarusian way of life - calmness and regularity :) Bravo!
Thank you! It takes time to find a proper tone and melody)
This is so beautiful. I remember this kind of villages from my childhood in Poland. Right now they are more modern and full of vehicles.
right
Same. As a Polish person born shortly before political transformation, I remember those kinds of places existing in the east of our country. Nowadays they're nothing more than tourist hotspots. All charm is gone, replaced by consumerism. Cherish the tranquility you have, even at the price of lower wages, because one day it may all be gone, and you'll miss it terribly.
Beautiful person, beautiful life and even more beautiful living...you are rich in so many ways and i pray you and your community stay blessed
Beautiful village. Lovely land scape. Fascinating scenery, agriculture land, grass fields.
Peaceful villages. No crowd, pollution & city glamour.

Looks like the country area where i grew up in Missouri , I'm thrilled to hear your story with such travel restrictions due to covid pandemic . 850 rubbles now would be 8.50 cents , we paid 40.00 USD $$ for a 4 bed room house on the farm my grand father worked for we had a Pony and pigs , chickens ect... Now days I live in California and Minnesota rent is 2'635.00 $$ USD per month in Minnesota I spend 1'350.00 per month USD being poor is not a crime being rich in culture is blessed .
Minimum wage was 110 roubles in USSR, so the fact that this was on the higher end of price in 1966 is quite remarkable, 8 minimum wages, or rougly 9000 USD today at worst.

What an awesome place, I'm afraid that if I came to visit I would never come back home. Contrary to what you may have heard about the United States I live in a small town in Iowa and things are not that much different. I raise a flock of chickens and tend to my gardens in the summer. My wife puts up the vegetables we grow and makes wine out of the peaches, apples and berries we harvest.
I know that rural US have some similarities)

@John Johnson Well ... that didn't take long.
