Yeah, i think this was particularly evident in this version. As we mentioned, his performance, was really consistent with the emotion behind the song and its lyrics. Zhou Shen is a true professional!

It's noticeable that Zhou Shen's trying to deliver his own emotion & msg according to his own understanding of the song. Like Memory & My Heart Will Go On, his covers are always full of hope & grace at the latter part. What I love from Zhou Shen when he is covering either BIG songs or any songs, he always put his own color, not following others or the original ver. while respecting the song fully
我曾聽一位台灣逐漸展開「第三眼」的小女孩說,，她終於瞭解梵谷了。因為梵谷看得到氣流的動向，如同她目前可以看到的，所以梵谷的畫作只是在表現他親眼所見，只是世人看不見，不能理解甚至恐懼他所見。還有，開「第三眼」的小女孩說覺得梵谷也能聽得見世人聽不見的聲音或是話語，因為他的獨特，被銓釋成幻視和幻聽，因此梵谷把自己的耳朵割了，他不想與眾不同。在那個年代裡，這是精神異常的表現。現代的我們，已可接受有人高過於一般人的感管能力，梵谷生錯時代了！

其实，他能理解这首歌，正是因为他自己曾经的遭遇就像是梵高的遭遇，多年前他的嗓音不被大众接受，承受了很多的压力甚至是自我怀疑。但幸运的是，他现在终于被大众接受了。

To me, 深深has one the world's most beautiful and mesmerizing voice. However, nott everyone will understand (appreciate) and maybe they never will, just like Vincent Van Gough's art work or personality. The Singaporean writer who is critical to 深深''s version seemed extremely emotionally attached to the original version. In fact, " Vincent" has always been one of my favorite English songs throughout my growing years. However, I have an open heat to want to listen to 深深's version. He will have his own "understanding " and interpretation of this classic song. And I will listen and appreciate his voice like any piece of art.
Jack, Zhou Shen sang 2 songs together on that June 18 Gala..... actually a medley making up of 2 songs: Vincent and then another song by Chinese song writer/singer Pu Shu called No Fear In My Heart. Those 2 songs had to be listened TOGETHER and NOT SEPARATELY so as to get the MESSAGE of what Zhou Shen was trying to convey to us.
That also explained WHY the first song Vincent was very very short, in which Zhou Shen was trying to relay to the audience, just like Vincent Van Gough (and his works) was misunderstood/under-valued by people of his time, and led a miserable life, how could people of our time ever know/understand the ridicule, humiliation and grievance that Zhou Shen went through from his childhood to the present day because of his singing (i.e. he was bullied in high school about his weird/high pitch child voice, and that he dare not sing or choose singing as his career, mistreated/mis-managed by his agent music company for 6 years before he broke away from the contract to form his own company).
Then in the next song No Fear In My Heart, Zhou Shen used the song to fully express his emotions(i.e. his frustration/anguish), exhorting himself to let go of himself, reconcile with himself, set off again, and be brave to be himself. it was about not giving up hope, and just be oneself, does not matter what others said about you and drive for one's goal and destiny. In that context, No Fear In My Heart is almost like the Chinese version of This is Me that Zhou Shen sang earlier.
So the 2 songs needed to be listened/viewed together in order to get what Zhou Shen is trying to tell us.

It is great ZS managed to carry this zong so well bcos this was a hit n classic song in the 70s... N great for him to reintroduce this song again to the new generation who has not heard of this song before. N he managed to nail it without changing much to the original songs👏👏👏

个人觉得：周深这首的英文发音吐字略显粗糙，但歌曲本身的演绎还是很有特色和情感的速～～母子俩在最后提到英文发音时，也很有默契地没敢深谈，很温柔了😄

周深唱的没有原创者好听，Don MclDonLean唱出一种悲伤，加上他民谣的吐字有那个时代的特点，所以让人听着非常感染人。不过他几年后再唱也没有那个味道了。但是周深唱出了星空的美丽，和对画家的怀念，那种理解和惺惺相惜的感觉只有原创者才能唱出来。
