From the base models, to the M3, these cars are a blast. But with costly maintenance and it getting harder to find a clean body, would you own one? Comment below!

I've had my E30 for 8 years now and honestly, they aren't expensive at all if your willing to learn and do your own work. Plenty of OEM and aftermarket parts out there and great community support. Excellent and easy car to pick up and build up whether you want to spend a lot or not.
Do you think its a good first car ?
@@emrylshah8062 100%. Theyre easy to learn, a little more expensive then they used to be but there is alot out there for them and they are a joy to own
i want a e30 wagon i’m 16 btw but my dad thinks it’s unreliable and expensive for repairs if i do the work myself is it expensive?
@@pditty9259 Listen to your dad. Not even kidding. Take his advise.
@@pditty9259 Got an E30 as my first car.
It's reliable, that much I can tell you.
It simply starts and goes, each and every time, and has had far less issues than any other car in the family.
However, they're not without issues. They're not mechanical, but they've got weak spots in the rear arches, trunks and sunroofs.
The arches and trunks are known to rust pretty badly, so they might need repairs, and the sunroofs have a tendency to let water in, if any of the drains in the roof are damaged, your interior will get flooded.
These aren't major issues, and can be fixed relatively cheaply, but can be a bit of a pain if you can't take care of them quickly.
As for repairs, they're not expensive, provided you know how to do them yourself.
However, do read up on the different engines they had, I personally would either recommend a 320i - 325i with the M20 engine, or, a 318is with the M42.
The other engines are quite weak comparatively.
So you want a g35 coupe, 65 mustang, bob cat forklift

Truer words have never been spoken, I miss my e30
Nah, they were entry level yuppie cars. Unless you're talking about an M3. An e28 or e24 is more perfect ;)
@@sparkeyjones6261 na the e30 was build to race, and it did that well. Also was in rally and did pretty good
@@-l-l3187 You're talking about the E30 M3, which was indeed successful in rally and touring car racing. And, certainly there's some grassroots racing involving 325i's. But, BMW didn't design them for racing. The rest of the cars, the 318, and other 320 variants, which were sold in the largest numbers, and seen everywhere were entry level yuppie cars. That said, they're still awesome cars. They did a lot of things a whole lot better than most of their competitors in that price range in the 80's. I'd definitely recommend them to someone who can care for a 30+ year old car. But, the most perfect car BMW ever made? nah...... unless you mean the M3.... then I agree.

The sedan is unloved?? I thought everyone loved them! They're like mafia cars :
I find that surprising too... I personally think the more door car is better
Fuck the sedan
I passed on a lot of coupes before I could find a nice sedan
I love the sedan. I had a 1990 325i black over grey cloth. That was a hot hot hot car. I just bought an '88 325is coupe. Love it but would have loved a sedan more.... just sayin'
In my country, the 2-door owners dont even look at the 4-doors, and I have owned both when I was younger. The coupe is just so much better

As an E36 owner, I've long wanted an E30 because yes they look great, yes they handle well, and yes they just do have that sort of nostalgic magic to them and the carryover 'halo' effect from the legendaryness of M3 going for them.
But the main factor that's attracted me as someone who wants to build is their WEIGHT. At under 3000lb curb weight, they're very light by 'modern' standards, which means every gram of horsepower you add yields a larger performance dividend. You add 50hp to a 3200lb E36, you'll feel it sure, but add that same 50hp to a 2600lb E30 coupe, you'll REALLY feel it.
would u recommend an e36 as a first car?
Is it really that heavy.

@@UpRyZeHazard My dad. I mean, he didn't just give them to me, but somehow he always knew where to find them.
I guess mostly junkyards. If you can find the guys running yards who are into this type of thing, I'm sure there are still some around.
how was it as a first car be caused im looking to get my first as an e30
@@osieldolores3618 I suppose it was sold cheap because it had a bent valve. My dad & uncle fixed it up for me, then it was my issue. I can't say it was a great experience, but I also didn't have much experience at the time. I really wish I hadn't gotten rid of it, but life kind of makes it happen.
I guess if you know how to work on them, & you want to put forth the effort, you could have a nice project. Just keep in mind, most parts won't be cheap.

Purchased a 1990 e30 325i a week after watching this. Took the garage spot of my 1997 e36 328i Cabriolet.
I'm just now learning about these cars. Would like to find one, but the low mileage nice ones have hefty price tags. I owned a 66 GT Fastback Mustang in the early 80's. It had a 4 speed, and was in mint condition. Wish I never let it go. I currently own a G35 coupe, which I enjoy. I also still own my Mustang LX 5.0, which I bought new in 1987. It came stock with 225 horses, and 305 pounds of torque from its fuel injected V8. Doesn't sound like much now, but then it was one of the fastest American made cars at that time. My 66 was quick, but the 87 was a little faster, and the G35 even moreso, If I knew then, what I know now, I would have definitely taken a closer look at the E30. Not that I would have been able to afford it, but 234 horses from a 4 cylinder then was quite impressive. Thx for sharing. Great video!

I bought a stock prefacelift one that was the baby of the range for less money than what kids spend on phones today, everyone mocked me for it.

I waited until they were getting old but not yet a classic as it was the e21 that was sort after at the time so the e30's were ignored, but I knew even then these were a classic in the making and soon the demand would catch up.
Four to five years later it did and you couldn't find one going cheap to save your life, best part is the same people that mocked me wanted to buy it, fast forward 11 years and I still have it and still telling people it isn't for sale.
