  • The Skoda Slavia is here to take on the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, and is relying on power, punch and practicality to make its mark. Renuka Kirpalani drives the 115hp, 1.0 TSI versions to tell you all there is to know.

    Guys, just think like this:
A Sedan is more comfortable, has a better ride quality, has better handling, has lesser body roll, has more boot space and is also cheaper than an SUV.
SUVs, on the other hand, are becoming more and more expensive day by day. For me, an SUV without AWD or 4WD doesn't make sense. I might choose an SUV for better ergonomics (practicality), higher ground clearance, and most importantly, AWD or 4WD capability, which you might not get in a sedan. Sure, I agree, Sedans and SUVs have their own pros and cons.
BUT GUYS, PLEASE OPEN YOUR EYES, JUST DON'T SPEND 20 LAKH OR MORE FOR AN SUV, BECAUSE EVERYONE ARE GETTING ONE (I've seen many people buying Creta, Seltos, and Hector like that, including my close friend and are dissatisfied).
We have already killed some beautiful sedans in our country (Civic, Corolla, accord, jetta, passat, ETC.) 😣☹😭.
Even many are now on the verge of extinction (Camry, Superb, Octavia, City, Amaze, Verna, Ciaz, Elantra, ETC.)
Companies are even not thinking of bringing sedans now. SKODA AND VW still have faith on us. Thanks to SKODA and VW for finally bringing sedans (SLAVIA & VIRTUS) in this huge SUV jungle.
PLEASE, think once before buying an SUV spending more than 20 lakh. I'm sure, you might have your own reasons, but once check a Sedan also before buying anything.
PLEASE do not kill sedans any more.
TRUE SEDAN LOVERS/ENTHUSIASTS, HIT THE LIKE BUTTON, TRUE SEDAN HATERS, HIT THE DISLIKE BUTTON. LET'S SEE HOW MANY ACTUALLY LIKE SEDANS AND HOW MANY LIKE SUVs.
I've just shared my opinion, you all are open to comment on this.

To be honest, highways in India are getting better day by day. There is always an argument. city has pothole so buy compact SUV. Compact SUV is not solution. Asking for better road is solution. You are paying money for better in the form of road tax. This is why I ditched Tata Harrier over Honda City because there is 8 lakh rupees difference. I can put that much worth of petrol. With 165 mm GC, 5th Gen City has never touched bottom so far. Slavia would certainly fly past those pothole.

I just wish indians realised how much practical sedans are than those pseudo SUVs meandering on our indian roads. Not everyone has to do 50kms of offroading to reach their destination. Sedans are the true cars leading every aspect be it performance, comfort or space.

Great Video. Happy that a few companies are still giving us great sedans while the others only care about SUVs. Really impressed with the car, love almost everything about it. I just wonder why Skoda (VW in general) is making it’s car look back-heavy. We’ve seen this in the Octavia and now the Slavia. Whether this is for rear impact protection or simply to increase its length, I’m surely not used to seeing a Euro Sedan look back-heavy when seen from the side!

The car is beautiful no doubt but the 'digital' cluster will be a constant reminder of the cost cutting that the VAG group has to make. I mean look at how much space there actually is in the cluster and how small the display is compared to the available area. I was really happy that the Kushaq didn't get it as the analog dials of Skoda are quite pretty and in my opinion look better than this new low-quality display.

Wonderful review. Well summarized Renuka. However the rear seat review in terms of leg space etc, from a taller person would be more accurate for car buyers..

At certain angle in the video, the bulge in the front and rear wheel arches are awkward. Needs a visit to the showroom to check that. The aggressive front is good. The wider rear end is good for Indian market to carry more luggage or luggage+pet(s) if the boot gets enough ventilation. After many years, Skoda has this segment up for grabs.
