- Sharing snippets of our life and seasonal homesteading tips!
We are child-free homesteaders living on 20 acres in beautiful Wisconsin. Here’s a look at our week as spring is springing…
A NOTE:
I originally started specifying “child free” in my “day-in-the-life” videos to be transparent. I never want anyone to feel like they’re not doing enough, especially if they have young kids.
However, what I learned is that there’s a subset of homesteaders out there who often feel left out in this community. The “typical” homesteader has children, maybe even a lot of them. And as people who don’t, our life looks different. It can be hard to relate sometimes, even though we have so many other things in common.
So if you are homesteading WITHOUT kids: welcome! Turns out there’s a bunch of us!
If you are homesteading WITH kids: I think you are amazing! I’m in awe of you!
I love my life, and I love being able to share a different perspective here. Please know I am throwing absolutely zero shade at people with children. I’m always happy for anyone living the life they wanted, no matter what it looks like. 💗

I love everything you all do! YT, Instagram, and your book are all so inspiring. Please make more videos :D
I really appreciate that, thank you! 🥰
This was awesome! Felt like I was hanging out with a like minded friend. Can’t wait to get rolling outside; though we’re also zone 4a-b (Canada), it’s not quite as mild in our neck of the woods, yet.
You’re doing beautiful work! Onward!👍❤
Thanks so much! 🥰
This was a great video! I need to dig up my rhubarb so this was helpful to watch someone do it first. This spring will be my first time raising chickens and I'd also like to start composting. Can you do a video on how you compost with chicken manure?
Great video! New subscriber here and my husband and I are just starting to get into the idea of gardening and started 600 beefsteak tomato plants. Would you ever do a video on how to grow tomatos successfully from seed to harvest?
We seriously love your videos and how thorough you are on every tutorial 🙌🏻
Thanks so much- I really appreciate that! 😊
Congratulations Carl, on your hard cider!! 😁👏🏼
Omg!!! Pleased share recipes!! ❤❤
I am dying laughing at how you just said "this rhubarb was covered in so much bird shit last year I didn't dare move it" so funny! Love your videos. Love your Freeze Fresh book too!
Thanks so much! 😊
I love watching every single thing you and Carl do on your homestead ❤️ I found you on IG and am just now transitioning to watching you on CZcams, too. Question: do you do any videos that aren't voice overs?
Thanks so much! I don’t, no- that style doesn’t fit into my life very well.
Fun video!
You can divide your rhubarb every 4-5 years I do here in mn great show it nice to see people gardening in zone 4 too
Oh that Angel food cake!
Apple cider looks amazing
Thanks! 🥰🥰
Wonderful Crystal and Carl! Crystal, what variety is your Bush Cherry? Good luck to the rhubarb in its new location ❤
Thanks so much! We actually have 3: Carmine Jewel, Juliet, and Wowza.
@@wholefedhomestead thank you ❤️
Wow, what do you do with the apples from 60 trees?!
We’re not sure yet. 😂😬
It’s still a young orchard but we’re going to have our hands full someday…
@@wholefedhomestead Oh my! I have 3 apple trees and that is way too much for me, lol!
@@wholefedhomesteadmaybe you and Karl will start a cidery someday 😆😅
❤❤ loved this video. Could listen to you all day!
Wow, lots of good work and food!
This is inappropriate, perhaps, so forgive me, but you mentioned no children. Curious if that would ever be something you’d talk more about. I didn’t have children until my forties, so I lived both the child-free and child lifestyles. I didn’t know I’d love the hard work of child rearing as much as I do.
Thanks! I did mention in the video description why I give that disclaimer on these videos 💗
Since you make a point of stressing that you are child free, do you mind me asking the reason for you being child free? I’m a new subscriber, so I don’t know your story. I love your content so far! Thanks!
Thanks! You can read about that in the video description actually! 😊😊
@@wholefedhomestead Oh, Im sorry, I should have checked.
