    Dont use AutoZone Plastic tensioner pulley, they will fail on you...

      Yeah . I've never had a problem yet tho put alot miles on it since then but

      If you can find the metal pulley tensioner, us it, possibly can get one at Napa or online.

    Be careful when you tighten that idler pulley bolt, don't over torque it. I've seen that bung break off from over torquing. (I used to work as a Saturn tech, I've had many of those timing covers off and seen that bung broken more than once.

      It happened to me I had to super glue bung on to stay on. Luckly It had enough treads the tighten bolt and new idler pully back on

      Thanks man, our job came out well due too proper torque specs. And cleaned secondary air system. Basic decarbonized the air ports and exhaust manifold. Check engine went off in two global good trips with resetting the faults. Let the car do that.

    Someone told me the cavalier and sunfire has the same idler pulley.

    Can you change that Idler Pulley without jacking the car? Are you raising the engine up? Those 5 bolts you removed, what they are holding? Did you put any thread lock on the bolt when reinstalling?

    • @KnuckleHeadGarage27
      @KnuckleHeadGarage27  Před 4 lety +2

      No you'll need to jack up the engine for sure to have room to get in there . This was a long time back so I don't remember much but um yeah also removing that engine mount because that too is in the way on it . I didn't use Loctite on the bolts I just installed them and never had a problem.
      It's very tight not much room to get in there

      @@KnuckleHeadGarage27 Thank you for the replay. Currently to jack up an engine looks too surrealistic to me (I'm a beginner in the auto repairs). I looked onto that part, it looks like it can be replaced without that very complicated from my point of view operation (engine lifting). I plan to do it once to practice (even bought an extra oil pan), but not now. Do you remember if you need to remove any other parts, besides those 5 bolts, to lift up the engine, or it is just them which hold the engine? My car is 2001 Saturn SL2.
