With the last story it is very easy to point the finger at the mall and blame them. Yes they should have checked all the cameras, yes the door should have an alarm on it, but that situation would have never occurred if not for the family’s negligence.
When Mr B was saying that he had early symptoms I was like “oh that’s no big deal that shouldn’t effect anything” then he mentioned that he has episodes where he gets lost and sits and asks strangers for help, that is NOT early that is smack dab in the middle and one step away from fully formed Dementia.
As someone with a family member who has Dementia, never in my wildest nightmares would I EVER let that family member take one step outside without someone being right next to them, let alone have them walk all the way to a mall by themself. Even if the family didn’t understand what Dementia truly means or is that, in my opinion, is completely on them and unfortunately they had to learn a brutal life lesson on how Dementia works.

My grandma has dementia and I swear listening to that story and just imagining the horror for that old man made me tear up. Not only is it horrifying to suddenly start forgetting things coz of the early signs of dementia, but it is also extremely scary to be stuck in a place like that. He just sat there and I don't even want to imagine how he passed. He was in basically a maze.

The mall story is the Mr Ballen story that has stayed with me the most. It's so sad.

I can literally feel the anger and disgust in your voice.....I couldn't agree with you more about these people being so lazy or just incompetent at their jobs for these fatal situations that should have been easily avoided.
    R.I.P. 😔

The first story, that accidental death could have been avoided if the operator made sure that Gordon was going in the right direction, but it was too late , that's why it's always good to double check ✅, you never know what important information you could miss, no matter how proficient you are, RIP to Gordon. The Second Story, was an unfortunate death that Irvin experienced through radio active equipment, but too much curiosity And after having 2 chances to go back to town and home to stop your curiosity and leave this area alone forever, but you went for a 3rd time, the barrel fell on your foot, causing you to go to the hospital and you lied and didn't the doctors the truth that could have helped you in some way even though it was already Dead, But still RIP to Irvin. The third story, too much time was wasted before the Cops was called, and the Camera's should have have been searched through and through, to find that missing clip earlier when it just happened then when they found the clip later on, the security should have kept doing their check up ✅ and double check ✅ and check ✅ again until your shift is over, because that's your Job, that could have saved the life of Bernard from ending the way it did, check ✅ in the maze area where they would probably find Bernard, RIP to Bernard.

They made the pay high because they knew the risk of the job that's more than likely the reason people work there in the first place. Shh U wouldn't catch me out there. That money isn't worth it if you're risking your life just to get it.

I think a lot of times standard procedures become similar to Highway Hypnosis.. This happens on long commutes where we as humans tune out most of the journey along our drive and remember little about the trip. When something out of the ordinary happens our standard operation in our brains gets out of wack and you have people forgetting babies in their cars or messing up on jobs when we have tuned out.

The thing with radioactive material is, you can't 'turn it off' or whatever... Different such materials have different 'half-life's, which is how long it takes for the radioactivity to wear off. That's why a lot of that kind of stuff is boarded up somewhere. Usually warehouses or underground, but some absolute mother fs are pouring it in the ocean or in lakes or somewhere in nature.
Lake Karachay is/was a lake in the southern Ural mountain region of Russia where those motherhubbards dumped a hell of a lot of nuclear waste last century and it became so f'd up that just standing on or near the shore for an hour would kill you. Afterwards they gradually filled it up with concrete and other stuff. Radioactive stuff is properly f'd up and the pieces of sht that are/were irresponsible with it need to burn in hell. Many of them probably just figured, they won't be around when it inevitably becomes a problem, so 'whatever' or smth...

The last situation was just as much the family's fault as anyone else's. Blaming it strictly on security seems like everyone's go to and you claim why apply to a job and be lazy but they may have been trained by someone lazy who glossed over the tunnels. The family knew his condition and chose to ignore it. You have to treat people with that condition as you would treat a child. The daughter should have taken him or the wife should have got him from the house. You wouldn't send your child to the mall on their own so why send someone with dementia who could get lost just as easily?🤬
Should the door have had an alarm? Yes. Would i be able to pick one random grandpa out of a fuzzy video in a mall with 7 stories and probably thousands people coming in for lunch breaks? Hell no! Could police check his cellphone ping and determine he was definitely last seen at mall? Yes but not helpful in a seven story building. Everyone dropped the ball but y'all only say oh the poor family😭(which had the most control over the situation btw).
Yeah I found your toothpick, boss. It looked lonely so I tossed my sandwich wrapper down on the floor with it. Hope we don't get critters down there.😅
