    When mentioning "J", Scarface is talking about J. Prince (James Prince), not Jay-Z (like video description is suggesting). J. Prince was the CEO of Rap-A-Lot Records.

      +TheMadKat14 Maybe I'm missing something, but he's talking about J telling him about Rick Rubin not liking him, right? Geto Boys were on Rap-a-Lot, and only one album came out on Rick's label, Def American, and that was in 89-90. That was way before Jay-Z would be around. J Prince would make more sense in the context.

    If NWA never broke up then Death Row never happens, Ruthless becomes the biggest label. Maybe Snoop, Nate, Warren G, Dogg Pound etc on Ruthless with NWA, ATL, Kokane. Damn. What would've happened to Pac? Would the East v West pop off? Would BIG and Pac be alive? Would Ice Cube drop social issue albums like he did, especial Death Certificate? NWA breaking up changed a lot in hip hop, directly and indirectly.

      +Jay Pxxzy LOW KEY FACT. i aint eem think about them in the trap wave. But yeaaah 2000's Three 6 + Jeezy/Gucci raps + Lex Luger sounds = trap. Maybe we can even go as far to say T-Pain lmao

      startervisions Mystic Stylez was more horror core themed just like everybody else in the 90's Memphis underground. You can't discredit DJ Squeeky and DJ Zirk for creating that trap sound either. Three 6 was influenced by them and sampled their songs. Check out DJ Zirk - 2 Thick and you'll see what I mean.

    • @lordjoyous
      @lordjoyous Před 9 lety +7

      +Jay Pxxzy the fact that you would disrespect them like that is unforgivable. i will say their production style is very much copied today and niggas act like they dont know who 3-6 is. but they were always hated on. cash money and no limit were huge while hypnotize minds was barely making noise and they made waaaay better music than pretty much anybody from the south in their prime. i just wish they released more albums through out the years

    His song "Game Over" produced by Dr. Dre is still on rotation. Legendary.

  • @theDavidChannel1
    @theDavidChannel1 Před 9 lety +36

    DJ Yella doesn't get enough credit for the production on NWA's albums. Dr. Dre just sits back and collects all the shine but Yella was involved in the production of EVERY SINGLE NWA joint. From NWA and the Posse, Eazy Duz It, Straight Outta Compton, 100 Miles a Runnin, and Niggaz4Life.
    Not to take anything away from Dre's immense talent, but Dre's sound did change drastically when he left NWA....that was no accident....Yella played a big part in crafting NWA's signature sound.

    • @theDavidChannel1
      @theDavidChannel1 Před 9 lety +2

      Keyser Soeze Dr. Dre's sound did change when he left Ruthless. Listen to all the NWA projects then listen to Deep Cover or any other Dre project that followed. His sound had totally changed. A lot of Dre's stuff sounds the same now if you ask me. That was not the case back in the NWA days, there was much more diversity in the music....what's the x-factor here? I can only think of one: Dj Yella

    • @theDavidChannel1
      @theDavidChannel1 Před 9 lety +4

      Keyser Soeze To write Yella off as simply just an "assistant" is silly. There were many "assistants' in the creation of the album; engineers, mixers, others behind the scenes. If Yella was simply just another one of those people he wouldn't be included as a member of the group. NWA is 5 guys, not 4. I highly doubt they included Yella just for the hell of it. He was obviously important enough for them to include him in every facet of their image. To dismiss him as just a guy just turning knobs and pressing buttons for Dre is giving him less credit than he deserves.

    VLAD, hire me to be your visual director!
    1. Rule of thirds is more than just a grid. Don't have the subject facing the screens edge, unless he's leaving the frame.
    2. Cloverfield shake-cam - love the concept but I didn't get why it was used here.
    3. The reflection on Scarface's glasses! why, why, why?
    4. Is that drumkit Scarface's first set up he used to conceptualise the first album? Nope? Get rid of it.
    5. Interviewer doing most of the talking was strange. Scarface was awkward but did his best in light of this. Maybe have cuts of yourself if you're doing 75% of the talking when interviewing.
    I could go on. Hope new material is better, this is the first vid I've watched of yours and it hurt.

    Deeply Rooted (very Dre sounding production-wise)is giving The Diary a close run to my ears, but Brad needs to get Dre in to produce his next album - that would be a masterpiece in theory before a note had even been recorded !! 'Face fessin' up to Rubin not liking his flow shpws he has both a sense of humour & a sense of humility too!

    Tribe called quest, NWA, grand master flash furious 5, Ghetto Boys, outcast, Run DMC, Wu-Tang all great Hip Hop groups. My Favorite would have to be Tribe called quest, they had a longer run than most of those other groups I mentioned. They took me from my teens into early manhood, the Africa movement was the best movement in Hip Hop in my opinion, everyone was wearing African necklaces and high top fades. Coming from the West Coast, we respected most of the East Coast Hip Hop Movement along with our own Gangster rap.
