When i use to dye my dreads back in 1990 people use to laugh at me because no one did that, but heyi kept it anyway. Rolling on to 30 years later. Everyone is doing it.

My ex-bestfriend called me nappyhead back in 2000 when i first went natural. We're no longer friends...and I saw her recently and guess who is natural and nappy headed now? She is and it goes to show that some people are ahead of the pack/trends. That is why I always do me......they'll catch on later lol

y'all had me on the floor! the number 1 lesson I have learned is this: if you want blonde, just go for the bleach. forget the box dyes unless you want to look like 👀

I use the shimmer lights purple conditioner sometimes but not too often since my hair is really the same color now and doesn't really get brassy anymore

Looks great! So you bleach it and then tone it? What if I'm going for the bleach blonde look.. Maybe a shade darker. How would I tone it?
You can use well t15 instead. I recently tried it and the blonde is a pale beige blonde and a bit darker than this and I like it!
It's beautiful. However, you didn't allow the products you used to be viewed too long. They were shown to quickly to actually view the proper product. but as I stated earlier, your hair looks beautiful.
Your hair looks amazing. I have a box dye but after watching your video I will do the bleach and toner instead. I have sister locs and I’m six months in. Is this a good time to bleach my hair? Thank you
thank you! going for the bleach method is better in my experience. the box dye will not yield the results you want and both will damage the hair anyways. the only caution I have is to only leave the bleach on for 20 minutes max and try to apply it quickly (5 mins max) for a total process time of 25 minutes.
I'd also advise to try the t15 beige blonde toner too. that's what I use now. good luck!
How do you wash all the beach from your hair? My locs are v long, and I'm worried I won't be able to get it all out.
you will have to thoroughly rinse your locs with water and then maybe get a neutralizing shampoo and slather your hair in that? for me, I typically do 2 washes (one with regular shampoo and one with purple shampoo) after bleaching. it's a lot, but it gets all the bleach out!

Did you observe that dying your locs made it loc faster! and made braid pattern to disappear quicker? How often do you dye your locs?
I bleach and tone my roots every 2 months. I actually dont think the dying made it loc faster. I think if you allow the hair to be out, it will loc faster (as opposed to having it in twists/braids/styles)
@@Braidlocs i think it does because it does dry your hair out a bit, even if you condition.

twice. 1st time for 20 mins. 2nd time for 10 minutes

What was the products you used at the end the video went to fast on that part?
wella t18 toner + 30 vol developer. but I would recommend 20 vol developer for the toner.
Do you remember the name of the blue powder you used?
unfortunately it did not have a name. I bought it from the store in the bag like that

first round, my locs were dry; second round, they were wet

it was a blue powder bleach that was sold in a clear plastic bag at a beauty supply store in Paris. there was no name lol.

Love your color...Color will only lift so many levels/shades...if you have dark hair you will never achieve blonde from color period....Blonde color will only turn hair Blonde if you are naturally very light brown or lighter...if you have dark hair bleach is the only way to achieve Blonde hair...licensed colorist for over 30 years
I have so many questions .. So I’m natural black. Never bleached . But I tried to dye before knowledge that it has to be bleached first . Ok so I can mix the bleach and developer together and do the entire head first right . Then after needed time (30-50 mins) I’ll shampoo and rinse that out . Then I let hair dry, once dry I can apply hair dye ?
And when do I apply toner ?
Hi! I think you should split your hair down the middle, do one section of bleach for 20 minutes, rinse out. Bleach the second section for 20 minutes, rinse out. Then shampoo with shimmer lights purple shampoo (leave in hair for like 10 minutes). Then you can add whatever hair color you want. If you're going for the blonde that I have, then you add the toner (wella t14 & t18 depending on what shade of blonde you want) after shampoo. Condition with the garner fructis sleek and shine conditioner from target et voila!
You may also want to use 30 volume developer so that you can get the lift you want. I would don't leave the bleach on your hair for more than 30 minutes max (taking into account the time it took you to apply it).

@@jaymills7377 I think if you're going for a blonde look, the purple in the shimmer lights purple shampoo helps to tone the hair for blonde. But if you're gonna dye it red or something else after, it can be any shampoo.
all you need now is some blue contact lens to go with that blond hair and you are set lol
Which powder bleach did you use ?
for this video, the bleach came in a clear plastic bag from a beauty supply store with no name. after this, ive been using the ion sensitive scalp bleach from Sallys
