As opposed to normal fire, which has never killed anyone in the history of ever.
The "fire + poison = explosion" reasoning was absolutely classic alchemist logic lol

It wasn't poisonous enough. What if the person who bought it had tried to kill somebody and they'd lived? Nobody would ever buy poison from me again.

Jon, the water moves it closer to the centre, and can be used to move your potion exactly into the outline for a tier 3 potion. So at 14:00, if you had added water, you'd have created a very high quality fire potion instead for the exact same ingredients. So sometimes ever so slightly overshooting the mark, and adding water is a great idea. Plus, the recipe book remembers any water you've added.
Same for the healing potion he made immediately after, it was definitely going to be Tier 3 and if it wasn't it would still have been Tier 2 (that would have been Tier 3 if it was watered down a bit).
Additionally what really helps with seeing where you're going, if you align your potion icon line with the potion effect line (the lines that point towards the centre) you'll have an easier time seeing where your result is going
I feel sorry for the poor knight who will use the potion to feel cool in the desert and freeze the whole camp.

JON! It is not a 'weak' potion, it is a 'great value' potion, remember your own marketing!
You'd probably love the entire atelier (French word for the workshop/study thing) series
quick tip for getting T3 potions: use ingredients so you move your potion marker "past" your intended target. remember the water/cooling item will always move the potion towards the center of the map, (not backwards along the line). If you notice your potion marker, there's a thin line that points to the middle of the map. There's also a line that appears by the goal marker, that also points to the middle of the map. Line those 2 lines up, then use water cooling to slightly nudge the potion to the goal from the back. T3 every time.
I can honestly say i had my eye on this one for a while, mainly because of the artstyle. It really seems like a must buy for me from what i see.
It’s currently good for a couple hours. Wait for updates as there’s not much progression and it’s lacking in variety. Hopefully the devs will start releasing updates soon cause the last and only update since I bought it was in Sept and it was just bug fixes and video settings.

It's early access but there's enough that points to exciting content to come.
The demo is free, although based on an earlier version. You could get that to scratch the itch until the full game is closer to where it deserves to be.
Jon! Try tipping the thing above your cauldron when your potion marker is away from your start point. It's easier to get teir 3 potions every time than you might think 😉

It’s all about making the tough decisions a president has to make and allows for a wide range of social and economic views. Really great writing and world they’ve made too.

I've been looking for a good shop keeper game ever since I played and fell in love with Recettear: An Item Shop Tale 10 years ago (and I didn't realize it has been so long already...). While this doesn't seem to scratch the same itch, it does look rather nice.
That game was so fun back in the day. Minus the combat part which felt a bit janky.
You may want to take a look at Moonlighter.. you fight at night and run a shop selling the drops during the day, was pretty good
And now I’m hoping he’ll do the restoration potion cheat to fortify all of his stats into God Tier ⚔️

this game looks so cool, its unlocking all the memories of me in grade school making potions out of mud and random plants in the ravine.

I dunno why that line made me chuckle. Just imagining a knife wielding zombie.
Aim to go past the potion, then use the water to bring you back towards the center. Use whatever is left on your path to make adjustments in a direction perpendicular to the direction towards the center of the map. In other words, water will always bring you to center, so if you leave yourself a little too far to the right, once water brings you to near to the middle, you use your remaining path to the left to make any final adjustments to bring you into the center. If you're careful, you can get a tier 3 potion every time, for cheap.

the teir II fire potion at 13:50 which he could have gotten to tier III by just adding a tiny bit of water annoyed me far more than it should have.
Having the ability to scribble on your recipe notes is a wonderful thing to add and I hope that goes in their next update so I can get it.

the brewing very much reminds me of the drink mixing mechanic from The Red Strings Club
This makes me think of a purer, more focused version of Recettear or the Atelier series without the main plots (such as they are actually plots in most entries).
This is a lovely little game and I've enjoyed playing the start of it. I do hope they finish it up soon and well. It has a lot of potential, but it doesn't seem to have progressed much in the last 9 months.

i really like shoppe keep, a lot different to this, but fun nonetheless. you play as the shop owner in an rpg, sell supplies and such, it’s in first person tho.

I literally had this exact game idea like 4 years ago.
I think if you watered down the fire potion @13:56 a bit, you could've made tier 3, because the potion in progress always waters down to the center of the "map"

Careful who you brew potions for Jon. Certain people will cause you to lose reputation, like that guy who poisoned the vegetables.
Presumably you'll end up having to run from the 'law' who assume you're a witch......
