Hey love the show guys! I always thought the big thing about newsstands wasn't that they were scarce, it was that in theory they sat on a shelf and were handled by employees and the public that weren't actual comic shop or comic book people in theory, so finding one in higher grade theoretically is much harder which I guess the scarcity of it isn't the number of newstands produced, but the number that would be a 9.8 that survived the newsstand selling process

Solo is definitely a superhero for kids. I remember being in the doctor's waiting room when I was 9 or 10 and finding a comic that had Spider-Man and Solo in it. I don't remember what comic it was, but probably an issue of Amazing Spider-Man. I loved reading it and thought Solo was so cool. Every time I had to go to the doctor I would search through the magazines and books for that comic and read it again. Thanks for bringing back that childhood memory!

Fan Expo sounds very much like the two major Australian conventions in which comics run a distant second to pop culture. And they charge $45 per day for the experience.
I love how, despite all the 90s accoutrements on and around Jughead, he still wears the paper crown on his head.

Another amazing episode Gentlemen, some news I found a copy of Spider-Gwen Ghost Spider 4 for $3 not including shipping with Conan on the cover one of Richards Show and Tell Books. Thank you for being so knowledgeable and guiding some of us through this journey.

It's weird that there are so many x-men fans and such few legion of super-heroes fans. Anyone who has read the legion books, especially the silver age legion run in adventure, knows that it was definitely influential to the advent of the x-men.

For the record, I did indeed pay the man in cash. When he gave me my change I declined the coins. I felt like he needed it more than I did 💀

Hey John! No debate!! You gotta get those mechanical errors at least registered on the cgc site within the 14 day window from when it was delivered to you! That way the whole process is on them, including shipping! If you’ve missed the window, maybe call them and see if they can allow an exception. If not, then you’re SOL and sell at a discount 😂

Great show as always guys. I have a question, when comics like that jughead do pages like avengers #4 do they need to obtain permission from the original publisher? I guess the question is those trademark?

Love the show! However, it seems that the 25 year rule has morphed into the 30 year rule? Last couple of shows have featured 1994 books in the 25 year slot.

Hey John maybe you should see if cgc will be accepting submissions in person at Comic-Con revolution where you could then take your book that needs fixed for their mechanical error and circumvent your shipping cost much like you did initially when you dropped it off because you didn't want to pay for shipping, perhaps if they'll be there and you can go drop it off there circumventing the shipping costs, but then of course you would have to be already going to Comic-Con revolution and/or have someone that is able to get you in to drop off the book otherwise the cost of the convention pass is going to cost more than shipping a book. But hey figured I'd mention it since it'll be coming up here in a couple of weeks and is local enough for Southern California Comic Book Folks like ourselves. P.S. So with the spiderman book do you see the paper sticking out in the imaging picture from cgc? It's not an excuse for it but would let you know if it happen in shipping. Can we just start calling that Gas-X paper lol.

I looked up the cert number from the video and the CGC image doesn’t have the paper sticking out of the bottom. So not sure how it could slip out like that post encapsulation. I would call CGC, and ask them for options. I think they will cover all shipping costs for mechanical errors (did with me in the past).

This is a great idea - as @omarnagi says, it was intact when the photo was taken. Going to give CGC a ring - it's definitely stuck where it is now.

I am a huge "Excalibur" fan. I used to have almost three complete runs of volume one! I would suggest that an Excalibur book doesn't really need to be named Excalibur, and I'm not sure how much cachet the name actually has. In fact, I would submit that there have been seven Excalibur series, titles aside: volume one, volume two, "New Excalibur," "Captain Britain and MI:13," volume four, "Knights of X," and "Betsy Braddock: Captain Britain." Volume three isn't really Excalibur, and I'm not sure why Marvel hung that title on it.
Anyway, I present all this to bolster my thesis: any X-Men adjacent team that is led by a Captain Britain is Excalibur. So the new "X-Force" has the best chance to be the next Excalibur.

Yeah, bring on the Adventure Legion books. I think #306(1st Substitute Legion)and 352(1st Validus and rest of Fatal 5) uare underpriced.

  • @glennsimpson_aka_bobbysaccaro

On trademark: So you notice how the DC TV and movies have that intro with all of the characters leading in to the DC logo? I'm thinking that's so DC's lawyers can, down the line, make the case that the public associates these characters with DC, and so any use of Superman by anyone other than DC will be confusing for the consumer, and therefore only DC should be allowed to do Superman stories. Preventing consumer confusion is the basis of trademark and I bet it will be used to try to get around the public domain usage.
