I'm with John 100%. I absolutely LOVED Bill Sienkiewicz work on New Mutants. It was a breath of fresh air at the time. It blew me away and I've been a fan of Bill's work ever since.
I, too, find Warlord appealing and end up taking a few home from the dollar bins when i see them John. 😉

Warlord was popular enough to get a toy line in 1982 by Remco. Very short lived, tried to compete with He Man.

CBCS at a con is reminiscent of seeing a bunch of nerds at a school dance alone in a far off corner. I swear to God I saw tumbleweeds blowing back and forth in front of their booth at the last con I attended

John, you are absolutely right. This is not a 9.9 I feel it is a gift grade because of whom the book is being promoted by.
I care about the Warlord. Grell's two page layouts are legendary and his writing was always on the nose. Great variety of topics, gents. Keep 'em coming!
Richard said CGC doesn't make their money off the secondary market. But CGC DOES make their money indirectly off the secondary market since they charge a percentage of FMV for high value books.
Read those Vampi books. They're actually pretty good.

A long-time writer on a book is like marriage: after a while some of the spouse's initially endearing traits can become irritating. Byrne constantly referring to Sue Richards as "the distaff member of the team" during his FF run soon began to bug me, and others too judging by the cease-and-desist demands in the letters pages.
I'm with John, for me the Sienkiewicz art on New Mutants was so different that it brought me back to the title. It's like he was able to visually distil the characters.
Regarding The Warlord, one of those someones who kept reading it was me: my first issue was #10, then I found the issues I was missing (plus First Issue Special #8) and didn't stop until it was cancelled. And I bought the various attempts to restart the title over the years as well. Grell's art first drew me to the book but I stayed because the character developed in interesting ways and his supporting cast was intriguing. Even the backups were good, like The Barren Earth and OMAC by Starlin (I think). And the book regularly printed my letters, always a buzz. I didn't even mind when Grell revealed that the last two years of his scripts were actually by his wife Sharon - she did a very commendable job. But sadly I don't see this title coming back, even with Travis Morgan's son as the current Warlord. I feel that it's era has passed.

So…on Vampirella, I’m a huge, huge fan of Vampi and have collected pretty much everything there is to collect from Warren to Harris to Dynamite and I’m Gay, so she does “speak” to both sides of the aisle. I just really dig a lady who can kick ass and while she’s had a couple of makeovers, when you learn that Trina Robbins’ had a deft hand in the creation of Vampirella’s costume (not that she ever envisioned quite how skimpy it could get) I don’t feel quite as skeezy as I might, knowing one of comics leading Feminist creators was there at the inception and played an active role in birthing the Vampi we know & love today. 🦇 🧛🏻♀️
Somebody on Reddit was asking what type of variant covers would hold their value, and I told them I think the sexy lady covers stand the best chance, IMHO.
Over the years come to know the first issue special from DC. When I first started buying them, I thought they were all first appearances but sadly I came to learn that they are not. Could you give a little information about what started the first issue special from DC, and any other information you may have about that comic line, thank you so much

I feel like, knowing how much people have paid for high printed 9.8s vs. 9.6s, for example Wolverines mini series and other books too, along with CGCs grading of 9.9s and it's recent scams makes me wanna down grade my collection and just keep mostly raw books. Unless I got a high dollar book like FF #5. In which case I'll grade, just in case I need to make some money a little quicker for whatever reason.
Recently I got a fine condition DD #1 but that book's going STRAIGHT to CBCS BABY!
This whole 9.9 thing is annoying, just makes the hobby more convoluted when it doesn't have to be. If they ever do introduce 9.9s they should've waited for AI grading to do it. Idk I got too much to say for a comment on CZcams. Cheers!

Ohh interesting you’d think they would’ve displayed it there’s an auction company that has very high end books on display at a convention near me
Automatic comics also looked at their 9.9 on CZcams and there was some color loss in the green above Nightcrawler he said it could be from staple pushing cause he said the cover is glued over the book which I didn’t know
But ya they probably didn’t want people closely looking at that book
I don’t trust to send to CGC .. want to do sketch covers this year and I’ll send to CBCS for that something is very off about 9.8 and 9.6 not getting notes and now there’s a 9.9 screening and Matt Nelson saying oh it’s possible your 9.8 is a 9.9
What how why wasn’t it a 9.9 the 1st submission but 2-3 resubmitted tries and a 9.9 is possible

Was going through a short box i got for a dollar per and found xena 2 from topps. I hate xena comics
I read the first couple of Warlord stories then gave up on it. Horribly contrived.
