  • Boss BC-2 British Combo Drive Guitar Effects Pedal overview at Full Compass Systems with Boss Product Specialist, Robert Marcello
    ML-2 Metal Core
    With its extreme gain, the ML-2 is the most potent and heavy distortion pedal ever created by BOSS. It easily delivers massive distortion and gain with heavy lows for playing Nu Metal, Grind Core, Industrial, Hard Core, or any genre that requires crushing sound. The ML-2's ferocious and biting tone will complement and cut through any blast beats your rhythm section can create.
    Features:
    • Ultra-heavy distortion with sharp-edged attack for crushing metal riffs
    • LOW control for heavy, low frequency sound a la 7-string guitar or dropped tuning
    • HIGH control for screaming, metallic tone
    • Road-tough BOSS metal construction
    MT2 Metal Zone
    Features dual-gain circuitry for thick, tube stack distortion with heavy mids and lows and long-lasting sustain. A 3-band EQ with semi-parametric mids takes your sound to the extreme.

    Well met, Hey just a shout out to Robert Marcello here, i love your style and good controL playing :o) and the pinky over technique on your lead run while the first three hold it down , thats really cooL and provides a whole ton of speed :o) and the tone you got here reminds me of the unmistakable powder Puff crunch of a diezel hagen DAZ ! yeah! Well and the maple fretboard, it really provides a thick pallette and lively base for these pedals to chime in with their abilities to push the envelope. Well loved it. Great to hear these pedals in action and what they can do with a great player. Thanks.

    Only way to demo a pedal is to play through one yourself. All sorts of tone modifications are possible depending on your amp and guitar. Even when I go to a vendor to try out effect pedals I still feel like it's all up in the air until I plug it into my set up.

    People talk shit about this pedal.
    It takes a long while to dial it in. Remember, if your amp has a clean input you have to balance your input gain on your amp in addition to not overloading it, bass, treble, mid. If you just plug it in and expect the best, you'll be mad. It takes a while, set it up right and experiment - all set ups are different.

    I had a metalzone about a decade ago, but sold it when I needed cash.... Now that I wanted to get some of my pedal collection back, I got a new metalzone. Yes, if you can get the large assortment of analog circuitry to naturally create distortion, it will be slightly more full than any pedal, but the zone is more versatile and costs significantly less than a room of stacks. To the guy who mentioned, only "TS or OD?", the statement is far too general to be applicable even 20 years ago.

    If the object is to reproduce a particular style, preference is the rule of thumb. If you are looking for a distortion that has a rich gain stage yet retains the tonal characteristics of your guitar and amp with a maximum degree of flexibility + signal boost the Metal Zone has been set the standard for how many years now? The Zone can justifiably be called classic.

    • @PatatoKeftes
      @PatatoKeftes Před 7 lety

      "rich gain stage yet retains the tonal characteristics of your guitar and amp" definately not the metal zone. The metal zone gave people gain back in the day for not a big amount of money and that's what made it popular and what keeps it selling today making it a "classic", definately not because it was a very good sounding option. Nothing wrong with it for the money but you can't be dellusional.
      Of course boss can make better sounding metal distortions but they sure will cost more and for that there are other companies already producing excellent options.

    • @garymorrison4139
      @garymorrison4139 Před 7 lety

      You are commenting on an effect pedal as if it functioned in isolation from the amp and instrument. What savvy marketers rely on is our willingness to believe that if we keep upgrading effects we car rescue ourselves from falling behind by spending less time working to improve and more time shopping for new stuff. By referring the Zone with "back in the day", it sounds like you have fallen for the myth that art is like commerce and driven by technology If you are spending good money trying to create a better sound with effects you are buying something. Consider backing up the signal chain to your guitar and remember that your ears are wired to your brain hopefully not to the market place's self serving conception of "progress". I am tempted to say that the older the effect the better. Less is more.

    • @PatatoKeftes
      @PatatoKeftes Před 7 lety

      gary morrison"Back in the day" refers to the era when the only amps producing metal sound were very big and very expensive and high gain pedals was for most people the only affordable choice.
      Where did I say that the pedal works in isolation? It is better to have something that works well unconditionally than something that will put you in a shitload of settings- hunting and setup configuration changes just to be audibly acceptable.
      If you have tried all other metal pedals and noone floats your boat then stay stuck with your metal zone, its your opinion and its respectable.
      And where did I say that I like the new stuff instead?
      Old or new if something is shit, its shit.

    I think if you don't have a bass player the ultra heavy saturated distortion is great. If you do have a bass player (and you haven't mixed him out) then you will probably be lost in the mix. I use a OD-3 or the philosophers twin with my guitars. And the ML-2 with electric ukulele. Seriously some sweet slide tones with an electric uke. However the high saturation could be good for some undertones/pad like sounds ambient stuff like that.
