Great points! I started 25 years ago. The basics haven’t changed with the exception of social media. We don’t have a website but we were well established in our first location before the web was a big deal. I did jump on Google and social media heavily when we moved to start a second location in a town where I knew no one but I don’t run ads or anything. It’s more of a social proof and resume I guess. Not saying websites don’t work. I will say that word of mouth is still king once your established. The downside, for me, with google is the screening. Everyone calls and many aren’t our client base. But in the beginning you grab every job you can find!
What I would add to this is get a very good accountant! They’re worth every dime!
I started with a $500 Mazda pickup, a cheap small trailer, a used residential John Deere, trimmer and handheld blower.
