      Thanks very much. I found a bunch more cards over the summer when I was digging out my old boxing magazines. I use to just collect the guys who were in the WWF from 82-83. There was an old baseball card store in my neighborhood that had a bunch of wrestling cards so I would buy them one at a time here and there. I never sent away for them. I kind of wish I did now.

      Ha ha thats cool! I usually hear from ppl saying things like “Since I’ve started watching your videos, I’ve noticed quite a decline in my savings account” and others asking me to stop making videos because I’m showing them things they never knew existed and never would have known about or bought if not for the vids. To me there’s nothing worse than buying the same thing twice. I’ve done that several times forgetting I already own it. Especially the Japanese issues. Many look alike and those are expensive. A few times I had to look at my own video to see if I have it or not lol!! But I guess when you have countless thousands of magazines and don’t look at certain ones for several years you forgot.

      @@prowrestlingmags i've managed to purchase 58 from e-bay!! 3 different lots over the past couple years. mine were from 81-90, & some of these "new" ones go back to 74, so that's really cool. even have an un-named arnold schwarzenegger selling weider products on an inside back cover. i also picked up the classic nwa "globe" belt from e-bay. as a kid, i must've made about 50 belts out of cardboard, tape, tin foil, & the "gold" side of caramilk wrappers. that corporate machine is to my south, i'm from montreal, but i hear you loud n clear. i'm keeping my vhs tapes, dvd's, vinyl, etc... can't thank you enough, take care brother! • @prowrestlingmags
      @prowrestlingmags  Před 7 měsíci

      @jdbankshot ahh nice, it’s a relatively easy hobby to keep up with because there’s 1000s of different wrestling mags out there. Sadly, theres a handful of leeches are looking to suck all the fun out of it by price gouging people. Requested by many friends of the channel I made a video on “prices” to help give collectors a price range to prevent them from getting ripped off. It’s no way an official price guide, but I will give you a generalization. Probably the most scummiest of sellers out there are the ones who are selling graded magazines. What a joke that is people are spending 500 -$900 for a graded magazine it’s baffling.
      Yes! I also like the belts from the territory days, I have several. NWA 10 lbs of Gold, the red TV belt and the Florida heavy weight belt which was one of my favorites as a kid. But my very favorite of all is the WBC boxing championship belt. The boxing belts are phenomenal. And yes, I remember myself and my friends making many cardboard belts, some got pretty elaborate too. We use to go to construction sites and look for thick cardboard boxes and paint can lids. The round paint can lids made some really cool belt plates lol. The kids of today will never know the struggles of the 70s and 80s kids because there was nothing out there to buy except for magazines and programs. Thanks again for watching my friend. Glad you’re enjoying it.

    Hey Bill, I was a bit concerned because you had not posted for a while and I emailed you a while back but never back. Now I know why. I am very sorry for the loss of your friend. My sincere condolences.
    I do believe NWA Wrestling programs from Florida did morph into the Grapevine in the late 1970s. Up until the late 80s the Road Warriors were just jacked. They were still big guys afterwards but they truly looked like superheroes through most of the 1980s. Crockett made a huge mistake when they didn't give the Road Warriors the NWA World Titles in Chicago at Chi-Town Heat. It really hurt them in Chicago after that. I have told you before I never liked the Dragon gimmick Rick Steamboat either. I thought his best look was pre WWF. He and Jay Youngblood were a great tag team, under appreciated in my opinion. I want to say that Harley Race defended the NWA World Title at MSG against Dusty Rhodes in 1980 and pinned him. That would have preceded Flair defending the title in 1984 up in the northeast. I am glad you showed your Superstar Graham magazines. I was a huge Superstar fan. He had so much charisma and I have been a long time fan of working out and bodybuilding. It was a sad day to hear he passed. It never gets old when you show your great collection. I could spend days down there and never get enough of it. Before I forget, congrats on 1,000 subscribers. You deserve many more and you will get them with this channel. You are doing a great service to all of us who grew up in the era where magazines were the way you got all your wrestling and even boxing info. Take care my friend!

      @Pro Wrestling Mags I sent the email again as well. Yea, I remember when you had just a handful of people watching. But, boy, did your channel grow and deservingly so. That pic of Bruno in his 80s still jacked is inspiring. I am always looking for some sort of motivational edge when I work out. There was something special about going into a book or drug store and seeing all the magazines available. It was a tough choice for me as a kid when I saw multiple wrestling and boxing magazines as I had only a buck or two to spend. The Wrestler was always my first choice. You couldn't go wrong with it.

    • @prowrestlingmags
      @prowrestlingmags  Před rokem +2

      Ok yes i got your reply email. Oh the pain of not having enough money as a kid to buy 2 or 3 mags was very real. I remember always having $2 to buy two magazines, but one day when I got to the register to pay it came to $2.50?!?! Mags outta nowhere jumped .25 each and could only get one, lol I was in shock. When you’re 10-11 years old that’s a lotta money. I liked that the boxing mags only had 6 issues a year, international boxing and world boxing came out on alternating months for it was earlier on the wallet.

      Oh the magazines I own complete months and years are from the Stanley Weston London Publishing years 1966-1993, in the upper 80s the magazines took an extreme nosedive. Awful covers, awful coverage, the expansion of cable tv exposed many of the territories and the magazines stopped going to the smaller Indy shows especially when the territories closed up they only covered the major 2-3 companies. The new owners who took the mags over in 1993 destroyed the magazines. Cut the size down to a comic book size, used cheap paper and totally disregarded the high standards that Stanley Weston set with only using top quality photos. Sadly the new company printed any and every photo they took. Over exposed, underexposed, blurry it didn’t matter they printed it. So I was done with them after 93 with the exception of a few cherry picked issues here n there..
