- Today's adventure took us to Salida, the Heart of the Rockies! (July 17, 2022)
Salida has grown from a railroad maintenance center into a bustling mountain city. Today, the area is famous for it's art culture, hot springs and outdoor activities.
My family and I are on a mission to learn about the history and geography of where we live by visiting every town within a 4 hour drive of our house. We live in Pueblo West and once per month we are going to venture out and explore the great state of Colorado, one town at a time!

Thanks for the background and history of Salida. I've found myself passing through the town headed to fly fishing the upper Ark, backpacking in the Collegiates and volunteering a couple of summers with the Colorado Trail Foundation. I've had several relaxing meals at the Boathouse Cantina after spending some time in the backcountry. Thanks for the virtual tour!
