Does Practice Make Perfect? | Getting Faster On Your MTB

- One of the best things about mountain biking is being able to ride such a wide variety of trails when we go out on our bikes. For a lot of us, an everyday ride will involve hitting multiple different trails, most likely only riding each one once. While this can be a lot of fun, if you want to work on your riding skills and try and gain speed, repeating one section or trail can really make a difference. Isaac headed to @BikeParkWalesOfficial to put this to the test, and see just how much faster he could get in one day!

More geared towards mid-expert & jumping. Not really useful to intermediate XC riders.
I tried it before, I think I got slower though because I’m so unfit 😂
Apart from the obvious - riding, the feeling of progression and increased confidence is the best thing about a day in a bike park.
Great video guys!
I would love to see a video involving the stretching and warm ups you all do before a ride, my wife is getting into MTB so I know she would love to see this!
We know the don and rich are quick but what's Isaacs background? Dude is dialled.
Isaac does have a background in the gravity side of mtb. He raced mtb 4x from 2008 to 2013 and reached elite level
Brother what an awesome video. I like how you kept it real even showing when you wipeout. Lots of people would edit that part. I did learn a few things. So keep up the good work. We need more videos like this one. Rock on my Dude. 🤘🏻🤙🏻
Great video , i love the breakdowns of the sections and what makes your lines faster and or worse and how to go about them, plus the added touch of the technical adjustments on what you did on your bike really shows what goes on to make your times faster as a newcomer living in the states and in the mountains of georgia ; this is like reading the gospel in my eyes LOVE TO SEE IT THANKS ALOT ISAAC.
Do a vid where you change something on someone’s bike and see if they can tell what has been changed
I second this
Incredible. At some point I will run these trails. Nice video Isaac
Repetition for sure is helpful to increase speed on any given trail. Especially as I am first getting to know a trail, if possible I like to run it a couple times in a row or at least several days in close succession. As an example, a local new techy downhill trail was opened in the last year where my first run was around 4 minutes, but after 20+ runs on it over the last 6 months I have trimmed that time down to 2m48s. Still a whopping 20+ seconds off the KOM, but dang fast for me and a huge improvement over time.
Excellent video Issac😊
Great video and great riding. It’ll be great to see a video covering enduro racing too 🙏🏻
Before he said his final time I took a guess that his final time was 3;05 and bammmm nailed it haha. Great vid!
Excellent Job Issac. Man your riding technique is awesome. Even your first run was quick, but shaving off 35 sec is phenomenal.
Glad you didn't get hurt on that jump because it looked worse on camera. What impressed me is that you didn't get shook up and still send it harder. Great job brother!
Nice one Isaac!
Gun rider Issac. Hats off to you the way you got up after that stack to
Issac chap, killing it 🔥👏
You can only get better if you keep on practicing! 🤘
😱👉🏾8:30 Glad you're ok bro. You guys do some scarry shit sometimes, without even realizing it. Be careful man. Still a great ride though👌🏾. ❤&✌🏾to you all.
Yep, can't beat practice. I race BMX and you wouldn't believe the hours spent learning a track. Whole sessions are spent learning a single straight too. What's also important it re-visiting it. I have to practice consistently in order keep all in my head. If I don't practice for a couple of weeks, there's a couple of seconds gone.
Think i saw you guys today at BPW.. (24th August)
gret video
Isaac's riding tho 😳😳😳👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Right. WAY better than 95% of us. Useless video for the majority of riders.
@@rider65 I think that it's on the contrary for the usefulness of the video. What he explains is actually the way that each one can try a trail, and then try to look for ways to try new lines and repeat parts of it in order to learn new movements and body/bike dynamics.
In essence, how to be your own bike skill teacher, for your bike skill level.
It's not to copy, or be at Isaac's skill level.
Which was still insanely good, IMHO, and absolutely beautifull to watch.
so isaac rips on an mtb, was a pro roadie - does this make him the ultminate gravel rider?
Are you running tire inserts? Those seem like very low pressures for the speed your reaching
Yep a rear insert and I have enduro sidewalls front and rear on this bike.
That feels hard for me as I am around 68kg and on an XC race bike with light sidewalls I'd run 18-19psi so this is chunky
Are you guys able to make vids about jumping different features such as tabletops, lips or drops etc with correct form..if so I reckon it’ll help a lot :)
Hi Joel! We've got several videos about drops, jumps, and the different techniques you'll need on different bikes on our channel. We'll pass your comment on to the team though to see if we can come up with something new!
Haha I had a day similar to this, feeling better and smoother until I hit a gap jump wrong and broke my wrist 😂
22 and 24 psi being high, holy smokes guy must be made of helium.
i dont know how you guys ride in that slop im slow in the perfect conditions!
Your thinking about it wrong.. in DH simply let go of your brakes and follow the mountain you'll either make it down in glory and win or crash and die
Yooooo and no im not a robot
⛔🤖⛔
I’m 900 liked 😂😊
