"All footage captured in-game" is the PERFECT intro after all the speculations surrounding the announcement trailer. It seems like the overall AESTHETIC is a MASSIVE improvement to Cities Skylines I, which will hopefully bridge the current gap a bit between workshop-heavy custom-asset builds and fully vanilla builds, and bring an all new level of satisfaction to everyone - console players in particular!
October 24th CAN'T COME SOON ENOUGH - I can't wait to create content in Cities Skylines II!
We can't wait what you'll be able to create in CS2 too haha!
Cool thing I noticed - a possibility to choose between EU and US theme. It might be for transit vehicles, but perhaps also roads and building types. If it's the case, wow!
MAN. i just hope it doesnt end up like ksp2 where it wont run on many computers. the lod, the trees, the terrain EVERYTHING looks so much better. no more sillyness. it feels like a mature game! Im kind of excited about the road building tools- the better splining looks great!
@@dollin9515 I'm a bit concerned about performance as well, but contrary to KSP2, here we actually get to see rich, working features months before release. At least I'm pretty convinced the Sim City killer is becoming even better ^^
â@@anbi7418 they have a lot of time before the game comes out so I'm sure they'll be working on stuff until then
I chuckled when I noticed the skyscrapers at night switching between different LODs... and the lights being completely different, when they were moving camera closer to them V:
The scale improvement is insane, in cities 1 tall buildings don't really feel tall, but the scale in cities II with the fact that you can expand your city massively in contrast to simcity for exemple is so good.
Yea I find that too but itâs impressive what you can do when you start focusing on the scale
Not to mention that some buildings had very weird proportions; adding workshop assets turned it even worse when using the zoning approach; you'd see 4 story buildings taller than a 10 story vanilla building. This is much more realistic and beautiful.
Theres ALOT more mid rise buildings.
that really helps in allowing alot better skylines.
Now can actually have it gradually build it's way up to tall buildings instead of suburb, suburb aaaand 40 story building.
â@Gary Gardner Stop complaing about pre-release, imagine complaing about a unfinished game.
@@VanillaV4 Are people not allowed to voice their concerns about anything anymore? "The game is unfinished", yet they're already charging money for it, not only is it absolutely fair to make observations and critique any product that is actively generating revenue, it's *your* duty as a consumer.
While there are obviously easy to see improvements to it such as the assets and overall aesthetic, a lot of the problems from I are still clearly present. Population density seems to work just as illogically, those big skyscrapers obviously aren't going to have thousands of cims living/working in them, and low-density residential buildings will probably still have 3-4 families per house. All of this will be fixable with mods in the future, but a game shouldn't rely on mods to be rewarding.
1:17 one thing I always loved from simcity that I always wished was in the game was modular utilities that you could upgrade instead of building dozens of identical buildings next to each other. Iâm so happy you guys are implementing it in the new game
This 100%.
Me too !
Yes! You could have really realistic cities in just vanilla but couldn't run from having to have 2, 4, 8, 16 of the same buildings. Glad to see this issue being addressed.
I didnât notice that at first this game just get better the more you see it
Luckily mods made it possible to customize every building
Iâve never played this game and Iâve never been much of a builder in other life simulation games but my hat genuinely goes off to those who can build something as intricate and beautiful as a whole city

All the modders from the first game should feel a huge sense of pride in their work being celebrated and recognized like this. The game feels familiar yet new and vastly improved under many aspects and i'm sure the modders will have a field day with this one aswell. I also appreciate the more realistic art direction of the game aswell as the bigger focus on building upgrades/extra modules. It looks as though it will be possible to make beautiful looking cities even in the base game aswell.
Beautiful trailer, really looking forward to the release. Once again a round of applause for the modding community.
@@ThomasGardner-cp2ox what about laying off the small bug you noticed in pre-release footage.
â@@ConnorLinleyI watched on my phone and I thought it was like construction or road repair and I got excited đą
@Gary Gardner Stop being such a sour puss seriously. This game took so many great mods and implemented them directly into the game. Looks to already come with: Industries, Parks & Recreation and Universities. It is blatantly obvious they have done away with silly restrictions considering the amount of unlockable squares. The engine looks.. GORGEOUS and you have to sit and nitpick that two cars turn around which is almost guaranteed to be because they lost their connection.
Yeah, give them money
â@Gary Gardner you the type of person to fume at the gta leak for not being finished
It's absolutely amazing! You really listened to what the fans desired and you built that. Thank you so much already
all those new road building tools look super nice. one of my biggest issues with the first game was not having enough control over road/district placement, and it looks like it's being fixed in 2
Oh wow, the trams, the bridge building tool! Super excited!!! Cannot wait for the fence reveal trailer!! â€
Yeah the game is beautiful!! Awesome job Colossal Order đ

The train police are gonna be really happy about this one

It's nice to see a lot of the popular and highly functional mods making their way into the base game (like precision engineer and parallel road tools). I'm really hyped for the new roads.
@Gary Gardner Looks like they're making a U-turn.
â@@ThomasGardner-cp2oxmost likely a bug
â@Gary Gardner road accidents? Because iirc they introduced speed bump so i guess they now implement road safety
â@Gary Gardner could also be a feature where some road is removed and the cars turn around to find a new way to their destination
@Gary Gardner It's a feature ;)
I have a idea for the sequel and you better add this to the actual game and it comes out *custom city building* Where are you make custom roads custom buildings custom trains custom interior everything you want in a sandbox game, and I want to make buildings in housing more realistic, so add a feature where you can go inside the houses and decorate the inside or maybe you wanna make a custom inside for your office space you can do that too Thereâs so many possibilities you could do with a sequel. In this is just the ideas, I hope you add to the actual game
I have to say, whoever created this trailer did one hell of a job. simple and effective writing, well chosen gameplay clips. It shows the things fans of the first game are really excited about. it has a nice narrative to it. The music choice is superb. Simply a really good trailer. Well done!
As a Cities Skylines player for over 6yrs, I can truly say my jaw is on the floor. I play this game as my ME TIME. I load up Spotify, grab a coffee & play âmy gameâ for a few hours. It brings me so much peace and calm. I love intricately working on areas to the smallest details, and then just watching as Cims enjoy the landscape I made just for them. Oh Iâm just so happy this is coming soon. Huge huge fan â€
You are going to be dissapointed the day this releases. If you pay attention, is just CS1 with a few additions. They didn't even change the zoning, we will continue having empty spaces betweeen buildings if the street is not perfectly straight and the floor perfectly plane...
I feel ya, because that's exactly what Cities Skylines is for me :)
Really looking forward to what the second installment will bring
@@blackcid I gotta agree with you, while I enjoy many different kinds of games, city skylines is my go to always! I feel on console this game will be very content lackluster on release like city skylines 1 was.

As a player from Simcity to Skylines and enjoy in it for several yrs with all DLCs, we've seen the game starts from vanilla to the final. Thousands of idaes in mods that we've been used would be ready to see in Skylines II, and we're still hunger for more. Please show us the outstanding performance and build another milestone!
I'm impressed, I'm glad that the trailer for Cities: Skylines II is all the best from the first part and some ideas from the steam workshop. You are the best developers, you listened to the opinion of the community of players and did not change what is not broken. Looking forward to October 24 to play this wonderful game of my youth.

0:16 -If I'm interpreting this correctly, it means you can change zone density without destroying all the preexisting buildings, and the density will change organically. This is great!
0:35- Zoning depth increased from 4 to 6 blocks. Also, you can create intersections by crossing existing roads. Minicircle interchanges.
0:54- It seems that upgrading from a road to an avenue no longer requires you to destroy buildings on both sides of the road. The upgrade will be on the left or right of the road, rather than in the middle.
1:19- difficult to confirm, but it seems that zoning options have improved on curvy roads. This is my biggest issue with the SCL1: the inability to define minimum plot sizes on curved roads.
shut up
also a rail yard at 1:19. I dont think that was possible in the first game without mods.
loving everything about the in-game footage so far, but can we talk about the soothing trailer music? It's so peaceful
cities skylines 2 delayed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S bruh đđđđ
The realism is what makes it for me. Love that we moved away from a cute quirky style to a more realistic one. Can't wait for the release!
That's pretty much all we needed! Otherwise it's a perfect game. I also hope that it'll be easier to mod too and that they'll incorporate some of the best mods in the base game
But it still has Cities Skylines personality too and doesn't look completely generic.
â@Gary Gardner What's wrong with the cars at the beginning? If you want to see the detail go to 1:37 instead, I think they're pretty damn smart looking, especially compared to the pixel-y bubbles base game Cities called cars. And if we're being serious here, I don't want to need a computer capable of rendering 4k movie quality graphics for 30k vehicles per map.
Trueâ€
@@ThomasGardner-cp2ox Dude, are you going to make this reply on like every comment? One little weird thing in a sea of high hopes? Come off it
Amazing improvement from the first game, excited to see how far we can bring CS2 with mods
Reason behind mods because the game was lacking. Donât look like nothing lacking here. Aka no need for mods
Unreal engine after all but mix with unity. Make simcity great again
@@Truckdriverplays there will always be a need for mods, a base game can't think of everything
@@Truckdriverplays I disagree. Even if the base game is as good as this video suggests, it will be way better with mods. I have no doubt they will support mods in this version.
@@chesterholland5909 It's not using Unreal.
0:40 Cool how they implemented NĂ€sinneula (the Needle of NĂ€si), the tallest free-standing structure in Finland (Tampere, where the game is made) and at present the tallest observation tower in the Nordic countries at a height of 168 metres (551 ft). đ
The first game was honestly revolutionary when it came out in 2015. What I always missed was a multiplayer mode. Would be fun to work on the same city together :)
I agree, this is the only really missing feature
Here it is already necessary to choose whether to move towards multiplayer or towards increasing the functionality of the game, I think the developers have already made a choice in favor of the second in the first part
8 Years? its been that long already? lol
A few noticeable details:
- At 0:16, that blue thing on the lower left hand side of the screen is a petrol station/gas station. So the teaser speculation was right lmao, there will be stations to refuel.
- At 0:51, on the roads GUI, there is a section labelled 'P'. Might mean we can create designated parking spaces for motor vehicles. It has also been suggested in the comments it could be 'P' for pedestrians, we'll have to see.
- At 0:56 we see what has caught my attention the most and is a gamechanger. On the bottom left side of the residential zoning GUI there's a section for 'Theme' depicting the US flag and the EU flag. Means we get to theme our cities with buildings from different places of the world, which will most likely be expanded to other areas.
- Also, at the same moment, we see finally MIXED USED ZONING, with commercial below residential buildings.
- The darker the color, the more density. Can be seen also at 0:56, with light green showcasing a single-house and the darker ones showing more built up buildings with one of the dark-greens having commercial below.
- ALSO at 0:56, on the lower right hand corner, we can see a half-attached road! It will be interesting to see how it affects traffic flow.
- At 1:07, it seems trams can also be themed, with the US and EU flag appearing on the lower side again.
- At 1:09, you can schedule individual public transport lines (in this case a tram) to also run at night. Will be interesting to have a basic core of the transport network working 24h.
- Overall, being able to expand infrastructure adds a lot of dynamic to the game.
Wondering what "Residential/office signature buildings" means.
â@Gary Gardner lmao did you get fired from the dev team and are salty or something, how many times you gonna post this comment?
Gary Gardner would make an excellent NPC name
I interpreted P as pedestrian roads, but you may be right, too
Cant you already do the theme thing with stuff like district styles?
0:57 you can see the residential options from low-high density, as well as one having a blue ground floor and the rest green. This to me shows that thereâs commercial / residential mixed use zoning. Office is now purple so I donât think itâs office / residential mixed use zoning.
I can just say that I'm absoulutely blown away. The whole level of details is just incredible. Even just things like the coal power plant being a realistic size now will make this game into a fantastic and realistic city builder. I'm super excited. Can't wait to play it.
I'm definitely gonna need more RAM though. 16GB feels like it's bottlenecking my pc
@@orinblank2056 I've been running 64GB of RAM purely to play CS with many assets. No other game.
My brother in christ that's not a coal power plant thats a nuclear reactor.

I just really love how the developers are always listening to the community, probably more than any other development team ever.
Beamng drive devs are a force to be reckoned with in this aspect, itâs nice to see one other dev team doing the same.
Lmao every time a dev releases an improved game or update, this comment appears.
Eh sure they are listening to the community by giving that community overpriced DLC
@@SpectorEuro4 agreed. lets go check out the price of cities skylines right now with all the DLC. GL justifying that. Are the devs at paradox making $300k/year?
@@SpectorEuro4 Sure, it's Paradox, but also have you seen how many things are in base CS2 that were DLC in CS1? It's a lot. I'm sure the DLC factory will start up soon enough but the base game definitely seems worth it.
Awesome graphics and a really awesome game, you can't compare it to the first part, just great.
And that the cities glow realistically at night, you did an amazing job.
I love that unlike most sequels, this seems to be a sequel largely building upon the first game and all (or some) of it's DLC. I saw snow there, and several features from other Cities 1's paid DLC too! Being able to seamlessly merge tram/rail lines like that looks so nice too, and I'm loving the aesthetics and graphics!
not only is there snow, but its seasonal based, so your not always in winter anymore.
and the populair mods they have integrated in the games is awesome too
After adding 15 dlc I'd say expecting these features in the next game is a minimum. I wonder how they will monetize the game now, I'm guessing there will be a race track DLC or something
@@flounder I think they mean series like The Sims, which is notorious for leaving out even the most fundamental DLC features from sequels so they can sell the same DLC again for the new game. so this one incorporating a bunch of key stuff in the basegame is a nice change.
i think the base dlcs will be snowfall campus and industries
This honestly looks like it will be the best city-builder game ever made. I cannot wait to play this!!

And I can't wait for you to add some goodies to the workshop for it!
Don't get hyped, buy on release, or pre-order. Modern gaming burns too many people to be worth getting hyped.
2 months already passed!
Editor: So how epic do you want your Trailer to be?
Paradox: Yes
I wish there was a "super-duper extra realistic mode" where every single thing had to be constructed first. Even the roads wouldn't magically appear with a click; they would need to be built, along with buildings, before they could be used. This may take more time, but it would provide an extra level of satisfaction for me, and possibly for you as well.
For the first time in ages I've watched a new game trailer and actually am convinced this is going to be amazing. Actual game footage and amazing features months before release - teaching other game publishers how you're supposed to do it!
Absolutely. They aren't killing the grid, they're immortalizing it. The road tools look next level. Connecting a turning overpass without mods. As a truck driver, the truck detail is amazing. I can't wait.

Props to the team for this heartwarming trailer. As a long time player of PDX and Cities I must say: looks like a piece of art.
How is this "heartwarming" when this glorifies the removal of nature for the sake of buildings, industry, and massive roads? XD - Yea, I know, it's a videogame about building and creating systems, I really dig them too. But the tone is so wrong in terms of what is actually happening in the video. - I hope there's plenty of options for greenery like parks and stuff, as even in the real world things like shitty buildings and factories are being removed, especially roads are being removed and closed off for pedestrians and cyclists in many places. - This game seems to live in the late 20th century or something.

excellent show - but big fright at 1:45: did it really say October 24 instead of October 23???đź
@@ichnixnutzername it says october 24th, 2023 in the titleâŠ.
â@@ichnixnutzername October 24, 2023
never pre-order tho
So beautiful and incredible, can't wait for October!
This was written by a Jehovaâs witness
I just can't wait for this to come out! Also, do you still keep your DLC's in Cities Skylines 2?
One of my biggest hopes for CS 2 was that they'll come up with something better than the zoning squares but it still looks great.
same
Same, I was hoping for a more organic way of zoning
Sameeeee. Kinda bummed
Would have loved to see that too with triangular zoning although I can see why they didn't as it seems like it would be a bit complex to add with Soo much already going on
I would really like to see more flexible types of zoning. Having each zone be either residential, commercial or industrial but no mixed zoning is so restrictive, especially if you want to build more European style cities.
It's great to see that you guys have incorporated some of the popular steam workshop mods into the base game! Giving the community what they really want.. excellent stuff.
Haven't been into a sim city style game since the original genre but I'm actually kinda looking forward to this! Looks really fun!
I hope there is an ingame feature to place props and Beautification anywere, nothing is more frustrating then to fill a gap between a plaza or a stadium with a bunch of trees.
Iâm so hyped!đđ€Ż
Same
Looking forward to you making my cities look terrible đ€Ł
The fact that you started this off with âAll Footage Captured In-Gameâ is so appreciated!
Being on PS5, Iâm so happy to see slope percentages whilst building roads and all the wonderful tools that PC players have, already embedded into the base game!
The lighting, shadows and trees, look incredible. Can you choose what each building is being built?!? Oh man, this micromanagement level of detail is going to ruin my marriage. đ
I havenât been excited for a new release in years! THANK YOU!
Looks great, I'll definitely get it,... but why would i buy a "pre-order" for something I can download anytime ? Are you going to run out of "1"'s and "0"'s ?
I hope they built all the major mods into the game? As the control of crossings, traffic lights, drawing road markings, etc.
I'm rewatching the video on 0.25x speed and every 10 seconds I see something new that makes me jump from excitement. Amazing job! Can't wait to get my hands on C:S2!
WOW! Good call. I'm going to do that right now.
No way. It is actually real. The amount of work you put in is just crazy. Thank you Colosal Order for bringing us this gem. I just cannot wait to try it myself. đ
I wonder if people noticed that the density of these trees is much higher, which makes the whole view more realistic.
only 4 months to play this beautiful game.
I love building cities, thank you for your wonderful game
WOW! I cannot even place my excitement into words. The features and assets shown already look absolutely amazing. Cities: Skylines 2 is going to be really special.
I am really happy with the developers based on this trailer! They listened to the community and had great use of the term "if it isn't broken, dont change it." They added small refinements to what worked already and made the game look amazing! I'm do so excited and I really hope it doesn't turn out like KSP2. I think this is the game we've all been waiting for!
All I'm missing are biking infratructure options. But this looks epic!
I never played Cities but I had to cry after seeing the trailer at the Xbox Games Showcase, thank you for this ^^
Please, please have mixed zoning!
Having high density commercial and residential nearby is really hard in cs1, that (noise in general, especially regarding public transport) really was my only major critique with the first one. Trailer looks awesome :)
0:56 It seem that it is indeed in the game! The selected option has a blue part in the bottom and green on top
I love this! What Iâm finding funny is that even though Cities: Skylines I was made partly because of the failure of SimCity 2013, Cities Skylines II is looking a lot like what we were originally promised SimCity 2013 was going to be. Iâm beyond excited and canât wait to give Paradox my money
they already have my money! pre ordered hehe
Amazing thing is, just how badly EA bungled Simcity and all it took were these guys to dethrone them. Listening to customers and not attacking them really does matter.
@@elilla331 The only thing I wish Cities Skylines had was Simcity 2013 modular system. It made the game so much more engaging when I could customise the look and outcome of certain buildings by adding additional pieces to the set and have it impact its surroundings. Adding more police units to have more coverage, expanding classroom sizes to cater for growing school population, etc.
@@ty1291 Those weren't bad features at all. But one of the big reasons why they had that was because of the tiny ass maps.
@@elilla331 Yeah I figured and it kind of went hand in hand with the poorly implemented agent system. Tis a shame.
yeahhhhhhh ima need off work for october 24th and maybe all of November
I have just started playing City Skylines, and loving it. That too without Vanilla build.
Looks so good! Also so many things that were previously done with mods now look to be in the base game. They are truly looking at the community and what is popular. Very cool, can't wait
This looks amazing! The fact that they seemed to have added all the mods like move it and themes etc is unbelievble! I already love this game :))
I'm genuinely so hyped for this game. Didn't play the first one, but I have wanted to get this for a few months now
I'd like to see your city attract or be able to build corporate headquarters in the city. For example if you are dominant in the oil industry you can build an oil corporate headquarters. You can have an option for a campus style or skyscraper campus.
I really liked the Industry DLC for CSL and it felt almost like Transport Tycoon, it only needed a few extra features like a supply and demand system, and as you mention, a way to plonk down your corporate HQ and perhaps an associated founders statue đ
I love how realistic the building models look now. One of the only few good things of SimCity 2013 were their building models. So seeing that Cities Skylines II has similar styles, Iâm pumped!!
Looks so similar to the first game while feeling much more modern, with a throwback to what could only be partially achieved by graphic mods on the first game. Can't wait ! I feel like i will instantly get to grips with the tools and new mecanics
I hope the flow of time is synchronised between all elements this time, and that it runs on my laptop at least as good as the first game can (probably wasn't too hard to beat CS1 in terms of optimisation and efficiency)
Just from the trailer alone, you'll know the developers love the genre. They actually incorporated a lot of the ideas from fanmade mods and maybe even made it better, we'll see when it's out. I'm so excited for this lol.
For those that played Cities in Motion and how beautiful those games were this remind me of those... just sitting and watching the city live so realistically is something amazing Colossal Order can accomplish. Super excited to play this. Please lets future proof it and lift the limits? =)
I don't think I could be more excited! I had to pause probably 30 times throughout the video to appreciate the details. So many improvements!
