I appreciate your effort in creating and sharing this. It is difficult to find accurate information on this subject. While I am sure your intentions were good, I did notice some mistakes. The following is a list of the most unambiguous errors: Edeleanu never named the substance amphetamine. He was not employed by SKF and was not the one to discover the pharmaceutical effects of amphetamine. He was simply the first to synthesize it and describe its synthesis in 1887 at the University of Berlin. Edeleanu went on to become a very succesfull innovator in the petrochemical industry and his methods continue to be used today. The discovery of amphetamine's pharmaceutical properties happened 40 years later. Therefore, amphetamine was not used in WWI. Gordon Alles discovered the pharmaceutical effects of amphetamine in 1927 and received a patent in 1932. SKF bought the rights and began marketing Benzedrine shortly thereafter. Amphetamine sulfate was only used by the Allies in WWII, the Axis powers used methamphetamine instead. Amphetamine sulfate is not "chemically modified" to obtain dextroamphetamine: Amphetamine sulfate IS 50% dextroamphetamine sulfate. The two isomers are just separated. Amphetamine sulfate is not usually "tinkered with" to get methamphetamine. Methamphetamine hydrochloride was synthesized independently and studied separately from amphetamine sulfate. Manufacturers offered it as an alternative in markets where SKF controlled the patent to amphetamine or in markets where amphetamine was unavailable, such as in Nazi Germany where the brand Pervitin was sold. MDA and MDMA are hallucinogens with stimulant properties. Gordon Alles subsequently also discovered their effects, and was rather bemused by them. An interesting fact is that the effects of more then half of substituted amphetamines are not predominantly "amphetamine like" (stimulating). This is not a mistake, just an interesting fact. I think it was, the abuse of benzodiazepines is BEYOND EPIDEMIC n the withdrawal of them IS HORRIBLE because you can't sleep. At least with stimulants, withdrawal produces lassitude n fatigue, and you CAN sleep

I don't think I could do it again. I don't know how I didn't kill myself or at least relapse on alcohol just to try to find SOME relief. I wouldn't wish benzo withdrawal on my worst enemy.
Valium was the mothers little helper. They handed it out like candy. My grandmom had a prescription. She became really dependent on it. Any time she tried to stop, she was hospitalized. Spent the rest of her life on benzos until she died from a stroke 10 years ago.
As someone who uses methamphetamine and dextroamphetamine too much, if I had a choice between methylphenidate and MDMA, I'd chose the MDMA. Methylphenidate might be more of a traditional stimulant but you can just tell it's not an amphetamine and MDMA is. I can see why you would include methylphenidate while distinguishing MDMA but yeah just my 2 cents.

Actually, I think you may be right. In the years since I made this lecture, I have learned a little bit more about that song, and I think it probably was meant to refer to Valium. That said, use of amphetamines, to increase energy and mood, and diazepam, to relax or manage anxiety, was pretty common in the 50s, 60s, and later.
10:11, it'd probably be ideal for progesterone oriented premenstrual lethargy... And mood elevation for the more uninitiated to amphetamines. It also can help with constipation, just saying. Other than that, I'm not sure how helpful it is for menstrual related discomforts 😉

Amphetamines and the decades of propaganda came up in our conversation in the hallway during the 1st conference break. We all agreed that “Faces of Meth” did nothing but shame those suffering far more than drug addiction. The individuals in those images were almost ALL homeless and suffering from the impacts of childhood traumas going back decades. Tooth loss is not a symptom of Amphetamine use. Nor are the dozens of other claims pumped out by groups like ‘The Montana Meth Project’ these are people who have investments in detox treatment programs and incarceration facilities. They make their millions $$ off the suffering of the poor. The amount of propaganda pumped out about Meth is staggering! Its sickening.

I once found one of those pills in my sister's room, among other products. I have an eating disorder as well, but mine works mostly with food I find "dirty" because of religious trauma growing up.

Concerta is methylphenidate XR, not amphetamine.
