ARoss, looks like you need a tool I stretched miles of fencing with, once you perfect it you can eliminate a bunch hardware, I would buy 4 of them,I used them for 30 years,it's called the chain grab puller,it will stretch any wire fence, compact and no cables or gizmos, that one tool, good job, from an old pipe welder.
Out of it all all I have to say is!!! Man you got you a good hand seeing Dakota push and pull and work the wire through with you and even welding in other videos, being right there with the next step and prepared that’s a must have he’s definitely part of a dying breed!
Dan and Mark at SWI Wyoming and Florida ara great group of boys. Glad they started their youtube channel to help spread proper ways and tips on fencing
Problem is their prices

It looks great, and yes god bless Dakota for being patient. As biz owners, we never remember to give credit where credit is due. I like to thank my guys by buying them a tool or gift card once in awhile. Small bonuses go a long way my friend. A steak at lunch on Friday on the job changes everyone’s mind set as well as yours.
Great job Austin, you and Dakota did a good job getting the fence all stretched and fastened up. Looks great, thanks for sharing with us. Fred
Thanks! And thanks for watching!
Great job on the fence. You and Dakota can be proud., I am 77 years old and one of the things I really like about you is the PRIDE you take in doing the best job you can, unlike so many young people today. As for that corner post idea, would it have been beneficial to put a pipe inside a pipe and make it a giant roller? I look forward to more of your videos. God Bless!!
Also when loading a roll of wire. Make your vertical pole for the spool removable load the roll then install the pipe. Just an idea. Great job as always Aaron
Great job as usual, thanks for sharing.
That's a good looking fence. Nice job.
When we used to pull up long sections of Pig netting(Pig net plus two strands of barbed wire on top, one size fits all fence, we used to have sheep and cows to look after) we used to use two lengths (usually 50 metres each), tie off the ends and then pull to the middle. We used box strainers at the ends of the runs and coners. The Hayes Wire strainer was the tool of choice and worked well with the high tensile wires we were working with.
Awesome channel!!!
Wish some of my young apprentices and fitters, welders had your drive!
Great looking fence !
We use steel wedge stretchers. And come along. This stuff is super easy to install. Always lay the bottom of the wire closest to the t post. If you lay it up it gets hung on the t post
Looks amazing man
Nice job sweet looking fence .
metal clamp fence puller is nice. a wood stretcher wont clamp the horizontal wire very well, the metal will.
Thanks !
Like the fence video's ! I'd like to try one some day.
Awesome job… I bet they’re happy with it.
Another good video!
Bom trabalho, gosto muito dos seus vídeos, abraço do Brasil.
Very good Video 👍👍👍
I welded 13 of those ratchets (that is used with electric fence) on one of the end post. You could probably get away with half of them. It works really good especially if working by yourself.
I’m stubborn too. I made a corner work with sucker rod and pipe over it.
Its ridiculous how good you can weld and how easy you make it look. 😳
He's a sweet man.
you make it look very hard,
Austin another great Video. Was curious if you have or if you could make a video of the step by step process of putting bids together for for a job. What you price for and why you include it.
Thanks for sharing!
Do you have any recommendations on how to attach cedar planks on the woven wire fence?
Looks good!. But as they say learn as you go!. I stretched miles of 6’ to 4’ no climb. But we all learn in different ways!.
Your fence grab tool is called a "hudas"? Man you Okies sure do talk funny (JJ). Love the channel, btw. I'm fixing to learn to burn. 👍🏻
Hey ARoss love the content . Where do you get your piping from and what wall thickness do you get ?
Good job I missed the feeding of the wire in that corner. Did you have to feed through by hand. Also is the fence to keep ducks in? If not that bottom 6 inches will rust and break over time because it is so close to the ground.
You're learning. But, go buy the bar that has the wedges that ya drive into the pockets for pulling the wire. Way easier. Make sure the bar is on your side, so when you're done and gonna drive the wedges back out, the bar just falls on the ground and there ya be done. Keep at it, Hand!
You're fence stretcher made out of wood... the bolts that go through the 2x4, if you weld a small piece of strap steel to the head of the bolts and drill a hole in the end of the strap to run a screw through.... then you'd have the same set up as your metal strecher with bolts that dont fall out and get lost and also you wont need a backup wrench.
So I'm thinking during the discovery that the corner pieces weren't going to work (in their original configuration) that a workable modification would be to cut off the top pipe mount bracket and slide a pipe of a larger diameter down over the corner piece pipe (with some grease), creating a roller assembly, then weld the top bracket back on and to the corner post of course. Then pull the fence around the corner with the pipe assy. rolling as the fence pulled around it. Works well - in my head anyway...
Austin will you sell us the plans for the wire spool platform gizmo you made?! I need that!
If you do the 2X4 sreader use "T-Nuts" then you can put the bolts in with one person from one side. And on the metal version if you weld the nut instead of the bolt then snaing it out from bewtween an existing fence would be much easier.
What about winner it could pull you braces out of the ground .might what springs at one end to stop this problem
Looks great what you use 6010 6011 or pipeline rods I’m not there to smell the smoke
Nice work, clean look. Now if the Land owner will Keep the brush & trees out of the fence line.
It’s extremely hard to keep the wire plum when you pull from one end. I tie off on both sides and stretch from the middle with two come alongs and two stretchers then stitch the wire back together.
Hey Austin, I’m a high schooler and am wanting to get into welding on a pretty low budget and I was wondering if you new anything about a Lincoln Vantage 500! It is a stick/wire welder and I think it is also a generator, but I don’t know, so that is why I’m asking! I think it would be a good welder for a first rig, but I don’t know much about welders or welding! Any help is needed! Thanks!
How’d those clips hold the wire tight?
Is 60 in v mesh good for horses and do you service Louisiana
A company called Ken cove makes really nice really affordable stretchers if you look at their design with their wedges I'm sure you could build one Austin
Always have extra bolts for your stretch board and lots of washers those threads don't last... unless you like loose uneven wire.... great job...more than one way to skin a cat
Look into something called an easy tie security tie that is for chain link as far as attacking them to 2 and 3/8 posts 2 and78 3 1/2 4-inthe truck that is required is about $100 but that's something you might be able to use future in your fence building
Why do you use a 6010 vs 6011
Thanks Keith
Hey Austin, What size hog rings ya using? I have been wanting to do the very same thing that you done on this fence. Just never figured out what galvanized hog rings size would work.
I think I ordered the 12 ga by 1 1/4”before they are squeezed shut
Weld a mount that puts the roll of wire to the side of the truck.
Should make you a collapsible gin pole, to help lift sheot, such as that wire
How do you keep your posts so straight? Are you driving them with a skid steer or setting in concrete?
We do both. On this job we set the majority in concrete. From my experience, it is usually easier to keep them in line when setting them in concrete. But it does take longer doing it this way.
Hello sir so I've been interesting in welding don't know if I'm to old to start I'm 44 I know how to weld and all that fun stuff just never thought about doing it for a living buy ever since I've been watching your CZcams videos it got me pump lol well if you don't mind do you think I'm to old to get doing it thank you sir and have a bless day
And my name is Peter not Larry lol
👍👍
Hey Austin, I have a few questions; 1st, why do pipe welders put the remnants of the electrodes back in the bucket. 2nd, how do they remove the slack on the inside of the pipeline. I would like to have answers to that because I wonder since I follow your youtube channel, with great pleasure by the way. In advance my heartfelt thanks for your response and with kind regards, Christian Bos.
I can’t answer for Austin, but I pick up my electrode remnants because if you’re building fence where someone will be mowing next to that fence you don’t want those little pieces of rod being picked up by a mower and thrown into somebody, or someone’s window, etc. Also those pieces of rod go in my scrap iron container, why waste it ?
ARoss- where can I get pipe like that? What is it exactly? Tx.
If you had a Bobcat, your spool device mounted off to the side of the front plate would allow you to lay the fencing against the pipe. All that man handling looked like you were straining enough to cut buggy washers.
FYI always wrap wire twice around the pipe 🙏🏽
One week too late! I did this last weekend, and had questions. I am running a primeweld tig200 on my predator 8750 generator. I COULD NOT get that thing to run right. I had all the settings correct, but striking an arc was a serious pain in the butt. Once I finally got an arc struck (running 70-75 amps - 1/8 6010) I kept blowing holes through our new 2 7/8" pipe. What a pain. I have to stretch fence on the inside of two 45 degree corners sunday. Hoping it goes smoothly. I sure coulds used that tru8ck mounted fence reel last weekend. Boy, the right tools make the job so much easier. Where do you get your weld-on clips? I can't find them anywhere locally (I'm in NE Texas). Gonna make my own sunday if I can't find any before then.
I have read that alot of the Small inverter style machines will not run cellulose rods very well maybe try some 3/32 7018
👌👍👍
Hard to tell by video but it looks like from the point you unrolled it that it goes down a turns left. If the roll was turned so it was coming off the opposite direction it may have roll through the corner. So side that unrolling would be closest to truck, at the corner it would already have natural curve in same direction. In theory I may work better.
Put that thing on roller bearings man!
I am 69 fixing to be 70. I need to put up about 3400' of 6' top rail pipe fence around my 12ish acres and then add more cross fences. I want the 4-6 gauge 2"x4" hole panels welded on all to keep the coyotes and foxes to a minimum. I have only welded in ag class 53ish years ago. I will have to do a little at a time due to being on social security. Yes, I have some money to get started well, I think. Would it be worth buying a big diesel generator welding rig and all the other stuff and doing it myself? I hope I gave enough information. Edit: Also, how do you allow for expansion and contraction? Sorry, put this same comment on an older video.
SWI is Siiiiick.
Never mind I should have watched vid before I ask questions I apo
Hallo sir I need pipe fitter job how to apply
Should have made rollers to act as corner pieces.
Clean looking job! Nice work fellas.
Watching, everything except fence stretching.
They make galvanized steel flat bar and pipe straps to cleanly secure the end of the wire to the Post so it doesn't look so ghetto and amateur with all the wires wrapped around everything... Get it together man.💩👌
I want to be you when I grow up
Love your presentations but dear God son learn to use a spud bar to help you lift. Am 67 and facing back surgery. Learn to save your body with leverage, I waited to long to learn and paying for it now.
Les tubes aurait besoin d'un bon coup de peinture🥵🥵
