- Martina McBride sings at the 2002 Rose Bowl Parade, a short time after the 9/11 attacks. I sat down and watched this video, and at the end I had tears rolling down my face. Not just watery eyes, but tears.
And I really like and appreciate her rendition of the song. The band backup was excellent, and her singing was very emotional and appropriate. She didn't add undue embellishment that's indicative of contemporary singers, if you know what I mean. And of course, she didn't alter the lyrics!
Chris Matthews gets a thrill up his leg when listing to Barry Soetoro give a speech. I get a thrill up my whole body when I hear such a heartwarming and emotional rendition of this song.
It's regrettable that there are so many Americans today who feel no connection to this nation or their fellow American, feel no loyalty or pride in this the greatest nation on God's Green Earth, or any sense that it's worth defending or fighting for, or even a sense that "The American Way" is right & just. I pity them, and I hope they will soon find the same feeling of patriotism and appreciation for this nation that I feel.
This is a re-posting of this video that I found from someone else. That user chose to turn message adding off because people were discussing politics there instead of music. But I invite both.

the difference between Martina and other artists when they sing any American theme songs... is that Martina truly sings from her heart and soul and we can feel it pierce right through our own, it's truly, sincerely, and genuinely heartfelt. she's singing it because she's proud to be American and she's not doing it to show off her vocal skills like the others do.

Does anyone remember the movie; THE DEER HUNTER ? Remember the very end, when the group of friends were sitting around the table after the funneral, and they started singing GOD BLESS AMERICA ! I never cried so hard! This song and Silent Night always get to me! AND - Yes, Martina's voice was beautiful! Strong and full and right on!!!!!!!!!!!

What a voice she was gifted with! You can tell this song is coming from her heart. Some artists like to push they're voices to bring attention to THEMSELVES!

I remember sitting with my wife watching that live. When Martina finished, I looked at my wonderful wife and she had tears rolling down her cheeks. That rendition was indescribably beautiful.
Every time I get down about losing our country to the left, I listen to this. Remember, folks, this was right after 9-11. When we were all one.

I love this Country so much when i hear Martina McBride sing this song it doesn't have to be the 4th of July, or any of the many Holiday this great Country has, it brings tears to my eyes, and i just want to give my all to keep this Country safe...i served my Country in the Navy, and i go out and vote each time they hold our elections, i don't care if you vote for Mickey Mouse just go out and vote so we don't shame those great brave Men & Women who gave their lives so we have that right to vote!!!!
Once at work i asked a fellow employee if he actually went out to vote and he said give me one good reason to vote...and i told him because too many good Men and good Women died for you to have that right!!! and He said "Your right that is very true"!!!!

She was singing this song not long after 9/11 2001 when the World Trade buildings were destroyed...when this country actually was fighting together for one cause....is it possible we will ever get back together again without having something like the world trade buildings come down??? What will it take??? when will it end??? we can always find something wrong with the other side...but can we find a way to all become Americans again??? God Bless this country that i see slipping away to God knows where....i have lived in this country for almost 75 yrs...i just want America to be here for the next guy who like me wants to live a free life....Serve his Country....and serve his God!!!! Lets get rid of the dividers in this Country and i am talking about the Biden's , the Trump's and yes even the Obama's of this world...and let's put someone in charge who will actually heal this Country....because it's my home sweet home...

People are complaining about her eyes, which are stunning by the way. This appears to me to me that someone recorded this with a video camera as they watched. Also, think about the video quality in 2002, there have been advances. That is why I think it is a bit washed out. In addition, this had a backing track, likely because it was performed on a network coverage of the event, so her vocal, which is incredible, was fed right into the board and mixed with the backing track for this live broadcast. Beautiful. I just love her.

The saying that we should seperate church and state was brought about by a speech Andrew Jackson made, but he was saying that it should be seperate that the govt should not interfer with what church you should worship at. I am proud of my fellow citizens,,,not proud and havent been proud of my govt for sometime. I love this song, always have, always will. McBride has a tremendous vocal, always impressed me. Lets remember why and how this country was founded,,,,,it was founded by dissent. The Constitution was formed and authored for one reason,,,to allow the citizens the right to dissent and have recourse against the govt and its actions and/or policies. Thats America,,,not getting line just b/c someone says to.
