  • The Sontarans make their debut on Doctor Who in the middle of an English wood in the Middle Ages. The locals aren't too receptive! Classic clip from the 1973-1974 four-part story 'The Time Warrior', starring Jon Pertwee as the Doctor, with his new companion Sarah Jane Smith.

Jamie Olberding Definitely Sontarans. Stormtroopers miss every shot and are limited in numbers. Sontarans are the best sharpshooters around and can clone eachother en masse. They also love war and were born to kill.

Wonderful! I collected all the fallen pine needles at the cost of a few prickles, and used that and some of the green crepe paper we put under the tree to make a stretch of grassland, upon which I coralled as many of my toys and model combatants, cannons and weapons as I could find and did a re-enaction,missiles a-flying willy-nilly,of the Charge of the Light Brigade, having seen the film of that on the telly one evening.

Linx is the best Sontaran in either series or spin off vids. One monster has to be tougher than several or hundreds because it has to last a whole story. Look at Dalek vs Bad Wolf etc. Single Dalek has shields, traversing mid section etc. The Dalek Scout can deflect missiles etc because it would be story over if you just did what Ace did and blew it up on sight.
Getting back to the point. Linx is the best because he's the first, the costume is excellent, the story is good and the character is well written and believable. That unhelmeting scene is a classic classic Who cliffhanger. Up until Nu Who various costumes didn't fit or we got a Derek Deadman cockney Sontaran or the costumes just look unreal (The Two Doctors). Then they just became a comic relief so they done even count.
