    "Shambala" is the name of a mythical utopia, like Shangri-La and other fictions. I was a little kid when Three Dog Night were top of the pops. I remember hearing their songs on the AM pop radio station my parents listened to. Three Dog Night featured three great vocalists fronting a great rock-funk-soul band. They dropped over twenty top forty hits including three number ones. When you're ready for more from Three Dog Night, check out "One", "Never Been to Spain", "Joy to the World", "Eli's Coming", "Celebrate", "Out In The Country", "Black & White", "Try a Little Tenderness", and "Ain't That A Lotta Love" along with many others.

    Shamballa is a mythical Buddhist kingdom that is said to exist somewhere between the Himalaya Mountains and the Gobi Desert. In Shambhala, all of the citizens have achieved enlightenment, so it is the embodiment of Tibetan Buddhist perfection.

    Joy to the world is a song that stays in your head. It’s not the Christmas song.
    One. That’s the loneliest number. This band had 3 lead singers -awesome catalog.

    Big time band, with a crazy amount of hits. One, Joy to the World, Never been to Spain, Black and White, Eli's coming.... harmony central here. Enjoy!

    When it's cold outside, people would (some probably still do) have a dog sleep on the bed near their feet to keep them warm. If it was even colder, they would have two dogs sleep on the bed. So the name "Three Dog Night" indicates a very cold night. 🥶

    Definitely do more Three Dog Night, I grew up with these guys on the radio all the time. They had many hits "Mama Told Me Not To Come" "One" "Black and White" to name a few. Thanks Biz!

    Great band! I was born in 1969. I remember my parents, aunts & uncles sitting around the kitchen table playing cards, and probably doing stuff that I didn't know what was what then. 🤔😁 They listened to this band A LOT! One of my dad's favorite bands. Thanks for this reaction and bringing back memories for me.

  • @vickieray
    @vickieray Před 2 lety +1

    My very first concert in 1973 ♥️ They were amazing!! My Dad loved them too so he went with me 🎤🎼 What a great memory ♥️ They have 3 vocalists and are known for their 3 part harmonies. You can pretty much just pick a song from their massive catalog and it’s a great song. I would suggest “Liar, One, Eli’s Coming, Out In The Country, Never Been To Spain, Try a Little Tenderness or Mama Told Me Not To Come” That just scratches the surface!

    You should watch some of their live performance videos. They were all over the radio in the 1970s, but they put on great live shows. They didn't write their own songs, but they did a mix of covers and songs written for them by some solid songwriters of the day.

    I have heard two different pronunciations of the word spelled SHAMBALA. One is the Three Dog Night version of Sham-ba-la. But I think the natives of Tibet and Nepal and Bhutan, the area where it is supposed to exist, they pronounce it Sham-bala. I think that sounds more real, but the TDN version is probably a musical decision.
