    Top gun metal gear gundam is still one of the best series/ova for the franchise. The animation, the combat, is absolutely amazing and holds up to this day. Story is a bit silly at times but still holds up decently in my opinion

      how so? I've never read it but I did think they were very chill with Kou helping an enemy soldier while deserting the ship way too downplayed in the original material.

      @bobbyewing311 Spoilers below
      Kelly and the Valvaro are rescued by Gato, who has strapped literally every gun he could find to his GP02 in place of the nuke he left on the ship. And Kelly takes... A certain kill that was Cima's in the OVA, leading to Kou getting the tar beaten out of him for his role in that death. And no grudge against Cima by Kou and the albion crew.

    Captain Synapse isn't an alcoholic. It's just that he's the captain so he can't afford to be hung over in the morning or even drunk off duty because if there's an emergency he needs to be at peak condition to serve as captain.
    Also, anyone else get TOP GUN vibes from 0083?

    35:40 There's a tendency in warfare to build weapons to fight the last war. But in 0083 the EFF wasn't just building to *Fight* the last war, they were building the ships to *_LOSE_* the last war.

    The RGM-79N GM Custom that you called a RGM-79C which the Custom design was based off the GM Sniper Custom, GM Commands (ground and Space) and the Alex.

    My personal theory is that this is a case of the people who became the titans command structure causing operation stardust from the start. Some media i have read said that delaz had a tendancy to rationalize things and that his withdraw from the last battle of the one year war was more an act of trying to save his own skin. But regardless chima's fleet was at some point involved with the planning of operation stardust and its possible that she or other in the employ of the future titans planted the idea as well as suggesting the means to execute it. As AE is well established to be more interested in military contracts as provides weapons to all sides during the grypes conflict i suspect that the titans planed all of this first by finding out the details of the Gundam development project realizing the nuclear armed gundam plus the navel review was the perfect way to discredit Adm. Cohen and destroy a large portion of the forces that were not loyal to them and out dated hardware, giving them an excuse for more funding to build their own force, ie the titans, the colony jacking and drop is to cause a lot of damage, what they hit didn't really matter as its the act of destroying something on a massive scale with a colony drop thats important its the justification for the titans and their brutal methods (the solar system 2 part is probably to stop it and show that their force is better than the gundam development project, if it succeeded great they are heroes if it failed they blame the damage on zeon and they have permission to do anything to stop another one).

      Thanks for the detailed response! I think in the plot to assassinate Gihren, there is mention that the colony Mahal was used to create the Solar Ray. Mahal was Cima's home colony and since then held a huge grudge against Zeon and contributed to her turn coating. The incompetence on EFFs side certainly helped !

    Earlier this year, a friend of mine and I went over this series and discussed what else could've taken place. Eventually it was settled on this, a detachment of the Delaz Fleet infiltrating Side 3 and attempting to assassinate Darcia Bahkarov, stage an uprising, and sieze control of Side 3. Once accomplished, the remainder of the fleet would return to a hero's welcome and await the arrival of Axis.
    However, the commando team would be thwarted when the very forces they thought would join them instead would fight against them. Leading the defense of Bahkarov, Shin Matsunaga.

    Any chance you'll cover the alternate retelling which one of the directors made into a manga? 0083 Rebellion. It really makes many characters simultaneously less and more dumb. And Nina's infamous "Woman Moment" feel a little better explained, though not totally excused. Has some fun crossover with the 08th MS team movie and IGLOO.

    Say what you will about Operation British, but Gihren at least aimed Side 2 at an actual military target. Meanwhile Delaaz's goal was _explicitly_ to kill as many Earthnoids as possible.
