- Wizards and Warriors new animated fantasy documentary lore video will talk about the world of Wheel of Time created by the late Robert Jordan in a series concluded by Brandon Sanderson. In the first episode we will talk about the Second Age, the age of Legends, when the humanity reached the peak of its potential through the One Power of the Creator under the leadership of the Aes Sedai, and how the hubris and greed of some allowed the Dark One - Shai'tan to enter the world to corrupt it, leading to the War of Power. The Light is led by Lews Therin Telamon, the "Dragon" and his attack on the Dark One leads to the Breaking of the World ( • How the Men Broke the ... ). In the aftermath of the breaking, the Aes Sedai rise to power and the humanity starts to slowly rebuild itself, until Ishamael attacks again, leading to the century-long Trolloc Wars. ( • Trolloc Wars - Wheel o... ). In the aftermath, a number of False Dragons appeared, only to be promptly defeated. One of them was crushed by Artur Hawkwing Paendrag Tanreall, who become the greatest conqueror of the Westlands, Alexander of that era ( • Rise of Artur Hawkwing... ). With his death, his empire collapsed, leading to the founding of most of modern states. One of them- Cairhien was led by king Laman Damodred at a later date and his pride and sin led to the Aiel invasion and Aiel war, which, in turn, led to the birth of the Dragon.

I always knew the Wheel of Time would be recognized as the masterpiece it is. RIP Robert Jordan you may be gone, but your world lives and breaths.
There are neither beginnings nor endings to the reading of the Wheel of Time.
May you shelter in the palm of the Creator's hand, and may the last embrace of the mother welcome you home.
@@MEDUSA99akaEROS My brain is having difficulty envisioning RJ sheltering in his own palm.
what a lovely read ty
@@andrewfelsher7872 even though i have read that many a time, rather nice to read it in a comment section ty
Dude.....hearing you read Gitara Moroso's Final Prophecy literally sent chills down my spine. Thanks, now I gotta go read all 15 books all over again!
Just started rereading them myself.
After the third time, I don't have another one in me for a decade or so. ;P
Yeah, that for some reason stirred up more emotion than I ever felt watching the first season of the TV series.
Ah yes, I knew in my heart without a doubt most of the WoT avid readers would feel the same way just hearing Gitara's Last Foretelling...so here we are rereading our beloved book series all over again for only The Creator knows how many times already.
The longest drug out fantasy series of all time 5 books would have been enough each book could have been 4 to 500 pages less if you're looking for one of the most boring Series that has ever been written I still can't believe how this series is loved by so many people there's some books in the series that are so boring you can't even finish them I just don't understand how it's the most beloved series of all time😂😂😂😂
I never read the books. But I guess that the next video is when the actual story starts, and everything else preivous was just the backstory of the world.
The Aiel War takes place 20 years before B1, and during the prequel novel (that should be read later)
Technically, the first book's prologue takes place during/before the Breaking of the World. But, yes, the series proper begins about 20 years after the birth of the Dragon Reborn. And the prequel novel starts on the day of the Dragon Reborn's birth with the events at the end of the video.
The lore is mostly revealed throughout the books.
You are correct.
I suggest you try the book - they are really good imo
There is a nice passage in the books about the Aiel War. Viewed as a huge invasion by the kingdoms, the Aiel considered nothing but an expedition to punish the treekiller, and having done so, they left. They had no interest in the fight, it was merely a police action against a criminal. Since the criminal was a king with an army, well the Aiel simply had to go through those obstacles first.... Aside from the treekiller, it wasn't even personal.
Not to mention only 4 of 12 clans participated iirc, and those 4 clans didn't even send their full strength either.
@@georgeeast5502 Yeah, one got the impression it was something the higher-ups sent the kids out to do, get them out of their hair for a bit....And of course the subtext being the Aiel didn't need to take it seriously, their military prowess was simply so far beyond that of the wetlanders that there was no need for a war footing.
So funny the coalition declared victory when the Aiel did everything they set out to do and the Coalition suffered terrible losses, with Cairhien basically burned to the ground and who knows how many nobles from multiple kingdoms slain. "We did it Patrick! we saved the Westlands!"
@@thuzan117 You're right! I had almost forgotten how the Westlands 'declared victory' when actually the Aiel had simply killed Laman, decided their duty was done, and went home. The Westlands hadn't won anything or even seriously inconvenienced the Aiel, and the level of cope slowly revealed as this became common knowledge in the books was really funny.
he really got how folks and stories worked in days past and showed all points of view, some may say long winded but i do be liking the river vibe of a meander
Robert Jordan created a world you can stay lost in, the books can be tedious at times but its the journey not the destination. Absolutely my all time favorite book series.
Yea I never heard of it until the show but I really like the lore
The journey is very, very tedious.
It can be tedious at times but the series really is most excellent.
I was in the USN coming back from a WESTPAC when we pulled into Australia.
I went to a bookstore for the last book in this series when the proprietor informed me Robert Jordan passed. 😢
I, a grown man, cried in that store I was so sad.
At this moment I have tears recalling that moment.
Journey before destination? I see what you did there, fellow Brandon Sanderson reader hahah
That's true... if the journey itself is actually interesting.
So happy to see this, as someone completely fresh to the world and the lore im loving these videos.
You're managing to follow along all this, paired with the initial episode? I don't. =/
@@mokarokas-1727 it is alot to take in if you have not read the books, he adds this like baby food in the books and you get a better sense. stories of old are all over the shop in nice bite size format. plz go to dragon mount etc websites and just enjoy the whole lot :)

Thanks for these great videos. I read all of the books about 3 years ago and I miss them. Seeing more contents on youtube about wot makes me happy. Love it
I never got the chance to read the series, but only from those videos, it looks fantastic, deep and complex. The sort of series I love.
Lore is better than the series itself.
@@Alejojojo6 I disagree. I read the first 6 books in 3 months, and then waited for every book with baited breath. I was disappointed in several instances and the fate of 1 of the main characters was not good, but the series is very much worth reading.
If you read quickly and have the time, it's certainly worth it. Be warned there is much filler, and the last few books were completed by someone else who frankly took the story in directions I did not expect, tying up way too many promising subplots to 'get the damned thing finished', and it's obvious. He's also not half the storyteller Robert Jordan was, and it shows. It took me longer to get through the final books by Sanderson than it took me to read the first ten or so TWICE, because Jordan is bloody verbose, but very engaging, whereas I found Sandersons completion books more closure than enjoyable.
"... never got..."? It's not going anywhere. You can still start anytime.
You ALWAYS have a chance to read the series. It's still in print and there are audiobooks for those who just want to listen. The Wheel of Time is still spinning.
I love this video. No major errors that I can see regarding the story, and worldbuilding and such. I LOVE the quotes around "pushing" the Aiel east lol.
But I do have some nitpicks regarding wording and such.
1. Luc (and Gawyn) were First Princes of the Sword, not "First Sword Princes".
2. Elayne is spelled with a Y, not an I.
3. IIRC the description of Malkier as bordering the Blight on three sides is 100% accurate, but the map/graphic shown doesn't really show this - it looks more like the Blight is to the north, the Waste to the east, and west is an almost meaningless term wrt Malkier's borders.
4. I don't think the water-sharing occurred during the Breaking. It occurred during the Aiel wandering before they settled the Waste. But considering that they outnumbered the Jenn by that point, I think far too much time and too many generations had passed for it to be considered part of the Breaking.
5. The Waste is often referred to as "The Three-Fold Land" but never as "the land of Three Folds".
6. The Blood Snow was called the Battle of the Shining Walls, not "Shimmering" Walls.
7. Shael entering the battle pregnant did not break "her commander's ban". It broke Aiel law and custom.
8. Shael was dead when Tam found her. The idea that she was alive likely comes from the TV show's depiction. But considering that there are many book-accurate points in these videos that contradict the show, I wouldn't think you'd want to prioritize consistency with the show over consistency with the books.
9. "Accepted ones" is a weird phrasing. They'd just be called "Accepted".
Good catches there
I would like to add: Malkier is a place, Malkieri is a people.
@@thinkingsoutherner731 Yeah, that too. I had to cut off the nitpicks at *some* level lol.
Maybe it's enough to improve pronunciation in movies. Please note that the film is made by people of different nationalities. 😊
@MargaretAdams-yw9lk being of a different nationality doesn't change how words are supposed to be pronounced. Yes, I know that some language cultures have trouble with some pronunciations, but that doesn't make the altered ways the right ones.
I call for malazan being covered. Really the most epic battles and sieges. Also very hyped about the main series of wot being covered
Oh man, the most epic of epics. Also I don't know if anyone can describe a battle like Steven can. I love the detail he goes into for the units and how they fight and their equipment etc
Yes! Oh man that would be cool. It'd keep them busy for months working on that series! Coltaine's Chain of Dogs would be an awesome story to cover.
@@highfist6754 man that would be epic. Could do an hour easy on just that. I need to reread the books, it's been so long. Nice name too!!
i would be happy with a cartoon vibe, just an awesome series
As a non book reader, I enjoy these videos as much as I enjoy the show without any expectations and disappointments from the show. I am having best of both the worlds. Thank you.
The video had some graphical errors, and the pronunciation of some of the Countries and peoples are off. Because RJ decided to spell things a say them completely differently. But it is awesome that you are doing this. Really good series. And your coverage adds a lot of context.
Really enjoying this channel diving into WOT, thanks
These books are very long, but it makes the immersion that much better. By book 4 you are so invested in these characters and they still have soo much to do and experience. And Rands character is so fing good. Matrims my favorite, but Rand was the most interesting. It's just so well done. He is just the sweetest 19 year old farm boy. Just the stereotypical swell stalwart guy you can always trust. Just like his father Tam. Then the journey begins as his world, his mind, his heart and his soul...literally...are shattered. You go thru soo much with him. You laugh, you cry and you worry as he descends into madness. All while he unites the world for the Last Battle. His failures and losses become his greatest weapons and at times his madness is the only thing he can trust. It's just so fing heart-rending and glorious all at the same time. And that's just the Main, Main character out of 5 Main characters who have equally compelling storylines. Then theirs all the secondary, tertiary and supporting characters that make the world feel real and lived in.
The biggest flaw of the show is they do not have enough time to develop characters like Perrin, Lan, Rand, Egwene, and Verin. The result is these characters come off in the show as kind of sulky/spoiled/stupid, rather than the well paced series of events that shapes them in the novels. I found I was glad I had read the books, as I could remind myself of this fact and not despise Rand as a whiny bitch, or Lan as a soppy Emo with not sense of real duty. Neither of these characters are like that in the books, they're brave and strong and hugely damaged by events and they are great characters you root for, watching the show by itself, you aren't going to see that.
Yeah, thats always a problem with adapting large fantasy books into a show. I'd be down for an almost word for word reenactment. But I can't imagine how much that would cost and who would watch it. And I stopped watching the show when Lan starting crying and beating his chest at that funeral. It's kinda a small thing but it's so NOT like Lan to cry really at all, let alone like that. And that was just the tip of the iceberg that ruined it for me. They assassinated every character in my opinion. Perrin having a wife and then killing her....cause he love egwayne or something? Sooo stupid.
@@alexcavoli6191 Perrin kills his wife by accident when they are both fighting a trolloc at close quarters, there is subtext that they have marital tension due to either a love triangle or a crush involving Perrin and Egwene. It's kind of weird, and I am unsure why they made Perrin married in the first place, it adds nothing to the character, and then having changed his backstory PROFOUNDLY, they have since ben shoehorning him into the Perrin of the books, and his reactions to this are all wrong for a guy with his trauma. It's the second worst decision in the show.
The worst of course is Rand, who comes across as a pouty spoiled jerk, which is fine because that happens for a little while in the books too, a natural reaction to having literally the fate of the world dumped on his shoulders. But in the books, this happens slowly, and first you get to see brave strong reliable honest Rand, tough as nails, locally famous archer and defender of the flocks, loves his dad, loves his girlfriend, has a great if bucolic future ahead of him. In the books when he reacts less than heroically to having his entire universe upended by people he does not know or trust over stories he likely thought were for children, it's a natural development.
I am quite certain I recall mention of somewhat similar mourning rituals practiced by Lan at some point in the books. It was actually IMO a good way of showing how he is a hugely passionate and emotional man, who keeps himself under rigid control because he must. When by tradition he is permitted to let this slip, well that's a natural result. I didn't mind it. My real problem with Lan is we have never gotten that iron disciplined mighty warrior monk character set in our minds, before we get to see his reality assaulted by events. So instead of looking like a rock struggling to remain strong, he looks like a soppy emo wimp crumbling when times get tough. He goes through a similar copy phase in the book, but by then it's remarkable, and you realize how big a deal events are if they affect Lan. Bad screenwriting there, IMO. Didn't bother me, as I have my head cannon of these characters and remind myself of who they are as I watch.... But I shouldn't have to, and its a disservice to viewers who haven't watched the show.
The rest of recasting is very good. Moraine is perfect Thom is perfect, Matt both actors lol) has been good, Elayne is good, egwene is good, Alana could not be better cast, Liandrin is perfect, The children of the light inquisitor makes me shudder he's so fucking evil---perfect
@@charlesparr1611 Agreed. They did a piss poor job. And yeah the Lan thing might have come off better if it was like a moment alone between him and Naeneve to also showcase that they have a special bond and is able to feel vulnerable around her at least. Or in a conversation with Moirane mixed in with a little exposition about his past and how the pain and loss just keeps piling up for him.
My cousin tells me they have Perrin carrying a sword and his eyes didn't permanently change color. WTF am I right?
And I don't remember the Inquisitor. I remember a few dudes in white but honestly I kept hitting the 30 second forward button cause it was so hard to watch for me. Was it the guy who some how managed to kill like half a dozen sisters? Which is insane, how'd that go down. Would have been a way better show watching him hunt down 7 Aes Sedai.
And I think they did the Perrin Wifey thing to start the whole axe vs. hammer debate raging in Perrin's soul. They had to show how he is worried about his size and strength without getting in his head. I think it was ham fisted and stupid, but I think that's what they were trying to do.
If you don't forget the names of half of them
These are are so much better than the show on Amazon. At least it the stories of the books.
Season 2 is a vast improvement over Season 1, just like how the Great Hunt was a vast improvement over Eye of the World.
"We gonna kill the leader of Cairhien!"
"Right! Who is the guy?"
"Uhhhh... I don't know!"
Of course they knew his name, but none of them had ever seen him in person. Once Laman bounced from Cairhien and the other nations joined the fight, it was hard for the Aiel to figure out who was in charge, especially with the rotating overall command structure the Wetlanderes went with. Once they did they terminated Laman easily, with great prejudice!!!
Thanks for this very clear breakdown. Vey informative
I love that these videos are more lore-accurate than the series.
An EXCELLENT JOB ❤❤❤ Most well done!
I really enjoy the WoT videos being a long time reader. If you do another franchise I’d love to see Dragonlance! Keep up the great work!
There are so many parts of this series that could be a show all by themselves, The Aiel War being just one of many.
It'd be so easy to map out, start with the back story of why the Aiel gave Avendoraldera to the Cairhienin (they'd need to borrow from Rand's visions), maybe throw in some Aiel history of how they came to The Three Fold Land and end with the birth of The Dragon.
Could easily be done in 5 or 6 seasons
Yeah, this is the real problem the show has. Even if you edited the hell out of Jordan's story (and somebody should, the guy doesn't know much about controlling a story, from what I can see---but the story is good lol, so you don't mind so much), you could still easily make 30 or 40 separate 120 minute movies from wheel of time. And you would be missing a lot.
Love these books, soon 30 years since I've started reading them. Good video, keep em coming :)
Absolutely amazing as always 🔥🔥🔥
Anyone else notice how unsustainable the borders of Andor would be IRL? I think maybe I've watched TOO much K&G 😅
The lands to their north are pretty depopulated, so they only really need to worry about their southern borders. Also Andor is known as one of the most military and economically powerfull nations around, so that also explains their existing borders a bit more.
To their south(-east) there is no real major power close by, rather some small independent cities/towns like Far Madding or quite decentralised nations (similar to the polish commonwealth in our history), where there is more infighting for power than unity vs banding together against a bordering nation. And ofcourse their alliance with the White Tower means that when the White tower mediates in peace talks (or enforces peace), it will generally be more favorable to Andor.
@@MDP1702 I know there are extenuating circumstances, It's just really weird to see a preindustrial feudal polity have that level of border gore without conquering more land to secure it or getting gobbled/vassalized by other powers. Rather like Middle Frankia after the Carolingian civil wars. It held Charlemagne's seat of power and many of his veterans settled there, but it still only existed as an independent state for a little over a decade. I'm just laughing because that was my first thought seeing the map 😅 Most of the states post-Hawkwing have really sensible borders, given the geography and historical precedent, Andor just stands out, lol
@@TorvusVae I'd personally see Andor more as a centralised eastern Frankia rather than middle Frankia, considering it isn't really threatened from the north, west or even east.
@@MDP1702 That's fair, I'm not super familiar with WoT geopolitics, I was mostly just going off geography and the borders K&G drew on the map. But I'm looking at a more detailed map on the WoT wiki that corroborates what you're saying
Love this channel! Cant wait for more mongol!😊😊😊😊
Amazing attention to detail! Great for book-lovers and show-lovers alike
Thank you for the video!
amazing work... very interesting and detailed ❤❤
It's the battle of the Shining Walls, not Shimmering walls. It's the Blood Snow, not Red Snow.

Better than the TV series
My friend forced me to read the first book more than 20 years ago and I instantly got involved in the story. I saw first episode of the tv series and there were a lot changes so I stopped watching but I think I should watch it because I've waited too long for this to come to life. I love these videos please keep them coming and I feel like its time to reading the books again.
it improves steadily in my opinion, but it's also IMO impossible to film while being fully faithful to the plot. I think it's worth it, the second season has all been really good, though changes from the source are still there.
I remember when a friend handed me the first book, I looked at this 3.5" thick small print beast and said "seriously?'. She didn't even tell me it was a series, she just said 'You'll love it. At page 50 or so all hell breaks loose and just Does. Not. Stop. hundreds of hours to read them, never regretted doing so.
Yeah the books are amazing and I've reread them about 5 times because I enjoy it so much. Unfortunately the TV series is the biggest waste of money I've ever seen. I quit it by episode 4 because of how much they butchered everything. I've followed a bunch of reviews about each episode since and can't believe how much is changed and what nonsense it has been replaced with. Give it a go but just temper your expectations.
Don't bother with the travesty that is the Amazon series. That is Rafe's Wheel of Time, not Robert Jordan's. Yes, some things needed to be changed. They changed way too much, though. Lord of the Rings movies were pretty good adaptations of the books, and it worked fine. The showrunners just wanted to put their views and ideas into something they don't belong in...in my opinion.
Magnificent ! 👏🏻
Such a great video- you guys could also do the First Law series, by Joe Abercrombie! Detailed battles like those in Adua or beneath the Heroes would be amazing to see!
Great stuff guys
Thank you!
Janduin was likely a ta'veren, able to make people listen to him, and that's why he was able to gather 3 other clans and convince his own to undergo this expedition of punishment.
That would help explain why Rand is double ta'veren. He gets it from his bio-dad and his previous incarnation as Lews Therin Telemon.
Got dammit man, this is the best time of year.
You guys should cover the Malazan book series. It has similar themes to the mist born series and Wheel of time.
I've recently read all of the books and then instantly re-read them and I have no idea how you came up with all of this knowledge this is insane whether I believe you or not is questionable but still wildly impressive and entertaining good job please do more I beg you
You need the wikis to keep track of everything. Or to decide what you want to talk about, use the wikis to find where to go in the books and reread what you need. Or just reread the whole thing knowing what you want to talk about.
I had to use the wikis extensively when reading or listening to the books.
The only nitpicking I have with this video and most is pronunciation. Since Reading and Kramer changed the pronunciation of some of the names as they narrated the books I assume Jordan corrected them. Therefore their pronunciation should be cannon. After listening to these books so many times I can say the names like they are my family and hometown so any other pronunciation just bugs me.
Really hoping a video on Dumai’s Wells is upcoming.
As you see, videos are from the most distant events. There will be some episodes between this and Dumai's Well for sure
Great video
Gitara Moroso, arguably the single most influential Aes Sedai of recent times.. the one most responsible in setting things up for the series.
And..a question to those who watched the show: did they make Nynaeve younger and Egwene older? Coz i hear that they made them candidate Dragons too in the show despite their book ages being nowhere near the right date which Gitara Moroso clearly set out for Moiraine and Siuan?
No, Nyneave's age wasnt changed much. But Egwene's was changed to be around Rand's age, like 20 something in order to fit with the Lore's age of the Dragon. Egwene is still young and apprentice to Nyneave and the ages really dont change much.
They messed up in the first season cause they wanted the mystery plotline of who is the Dragon, but alot has been improved in the second, theyre correcting the path
the show takes pretty substantial liberties with the plot, and IMO the overall aesthetic of the books. That's one of MANY discrepancies already showing. I haven't really decided if I think it's any good. It's worth watching, I think, but they seem to be missing too much characterization to early on for any of the later more complicated plot lines to ever be incorporated. Some of the casting is awful, Rand in particular looks perfect and completely misses the mark in terms of personality early on. Perrin's entire backstory is different, resulting in a very different man who is now being shoehorned into reactions that ring hollow. Lan is, and there is no other way to say it, a bit of a whiny emo.
Moraine is perfectly cast, can't imagine anyone doing it better, as are most of the other Aes Sedai. You hate Liandrin on sight, as you should based on her canon personality.
It's uneven, but hey it's just a few hours, and its certainly better than watching reruns of friends.
The abortion that is aired in Prime has very little to do with the book series, only the names actually. If they changed the names, they would not have to pay rights for the series. Of course, if they didn't have the name, nobody would watch it (barely anyone is watching it as it is).
@@vanneli It's actually doing okay for viewership, well enough that the execs had no problem green lighting the second season, which is now underway, even though that team is historically brutal about cancellations.
Also, there are a couple deviations from the books, and I would say they aren't well considered, but the story is essentially unchanged, the characters are mainly similar (and where they aren't, it's not terribly egregious, although I would not have made the changes myself), the world is pretty much the same, the lore is pretty similar, and so far the basic plot lines are identical, while many of the minor subplots have been pruned.
It's not that bad. It's better by far than I expected, but then I wasn't super attached to a silly fantasy epic such that I could be triggered by pretty minor shortcomings and mildly dubious directorial and writing changes.
With the exception of Rand, and to a lesser extent Lan (I hope he stops moping, but then he did mope in the books, it was just set against a lot of serious bad-assert before that, so it hit better as being out of character rather than just emotion) the casting is really good, the special effects and set design are better than I expected, and some of the key moments of the series have been very well handled, notably the meeting with Thom Merrilin (and his casting) was perfect, and the encounter with the innkeeper darfriend girl was picture perfect. That girl was perfectly cast and handled the role extremely well. Matt has been less a part of the story than I expected, but that is likely down to last minute changes made first season after the actor was apparently a complete disaster and a real problem on set. Now that he's been recast (which was a bit jarring as I had no idea of the IRL drama before the new actor appeared), I like the new actor better, and I suspect he will begin to take a major part. Lanfear is chilling, Ishameal is suitably diabolical, and it's too early to pass judgement on Aviendha, who is at least n regards to appearance exactly what I expected of Aiel. The mass combat scenes are well done, anything more detailed like major character combat is kind of iffy, but thats common when you can literally have all the stunt and fight guys playing the 'armies', but you rely upon the actors for some of the moves. Aviendha's fighting was a bit too flashy, but then that comes from someone who knows how to fight, and I suspect most viewers will think its awesome. Very Wing Chun/wushu flowery stage crap. Myself I would expect Aiel to fight much less extravagantly, and with a lot more fatalities per technique.
All in all it's far from perfect, but its worth watching. Anyone who expected word perfect from the books should realize that would be THOUSANDS of hours of show. Tens of thousands actually. You could get fifty one hour episodes out of book one with ease and it's the SIMPLE book with almost nothing political or subtle about it.
The show ignores the book entirely aside from using some of the sam names. The only character that resembles their book counterpart at all is Elaine
Thank you once more for making this videos. One detail that I think you got wrong, Tigraine/Shaiel dies giving birth. The Second Captain of the Illianer Companions (the special forces of Illian) Blademaster Tam Al'Thor found the baby as he got away from the stench of death.
Daaaamn, that ending was good!
Umm ......can we get some more of these alternate history videos? If you'd be so kind
KEEP MAKING THESE, CAN I RECOMMEND THE BATTLE OF TAR VALON
"Murdered by the court bard". NOthing too strange about that. NOpe. Keep on moving folkks
I'm worried about the show. I have been since they cut out meeting Mordeth in Shadar Logoth. They cut out a ton of the Shadar Logoth story and also decided to cut all of Caemlyn and that has me worried.
SPOILERS
The meeting in Shadar Logoth is where you meet the other main villain that will haunt our heroes for the rest of the series and it's not Fain. That single encounter puts Rand on the path to figuring out how to cleanse the power and they cut it...
Actually, they are not cutting Caemlyn - the fact that we've gotten name drops of location and characters, not to mention Elayne, is proof. I suspect at this rate, they're doing one new major city location per season, so Caemlyn is a little down the road. As for the Shadar Logoth stuff, yeah I am not sure what they're going to do, but they have only had 8 hours of screentime to tell this story. While we as book readers know the multitude of threats, factions, powers, cultures, ect. that exist in the world, in reality, there is no way to show them all and do them justice in the show. There are also other opportunities for them to bring back in Shadar Logoth, as it was revisited several times in the books, so it might happen!
@isaacnicholl7912 The studio chose the length of episodes and the number of episodes per season. With the amount of money Amazon has to work with, time to properly flesh out the story shouldn't be a concern. The problem is that the showrunners want to tell THEIR story, not Robert Jordan's. Too many changes to fundamental story principles have been made for it to be looked at in any other way. Makes me wish a real fan with a few billion dollars would buy the rights from Amazon so we can get the series we deserve instead of this travesty.
Let the Dragon ride again on the winds of time...
Why was this video buried? I have the bell icon and everything…
Hail too the Dragon!
Some random dude started a war by cutting down a tree.
B R U H
Bologna and Modena: hold my bucket
The US vs the British: hold my pig
Mexico vs France : hold my patisserie shop
honduras vs el salvador: hold my football
You left out the battles on the slopes of Dragonmount, where Shaeil was killed and Rand born.
the pronunciations in this are wild, i read the audio books and hearing the pronunciations in this distracted from the story
Wow🍻Well done🖖
Do Mass Effect next!!!!
The R isn't silent in Cairhien; the H is.
I love this videos because i really don't like how the creator made the world in the books everything is so tense and boring to read but this makes everything easier
I do enjoy these vids, they are well made as ever, however the pronunciations need a little help though, as someonen who struggles with such things, i had to spend ages trying to find the proper way to say a lot of names.
A good video even for one who have read the books. However I would think that the picture of Lan was a little bit too old and that of Niall a little bit too young. And of course for viewers who are not familiar with the lore the term "children of the light" may not be so easy to understand.
Pretty sure Lain is the one who almost became king, and that sibling rivalry drove him to go along with the invasion idea.
Mr. Fairheart, while a "great man", was just a douchebag darkfriend.
Thanks for continuing the series. Having fantasy stories told in your patented style is amazing.
Edit: wait, you guys went with the show version of Tigraine's death? May I ask what decides which you're going with (in any of your series)?
What now? 🤦 saved me time watching more if they're referencing that shit. 👍cheers.
Post for the youtube gods, and to show more people that these story is amazing and not a cheesy and just bad Amazon Serie.....
This video has a number of glitches. They should probably fix them.
Apparently it’s a good thing I didn’t read the books because I really like the show and I think the lore is fantastic. But book readers complain and hate on the show but continue to watch it every week
Book reader here and the tv show runners did indeed murder the story. But the WOT has a multiverse in its lore and that's what the tv show falls under for me - just an alternate universe. I was highly optimistic for it but have stopped watching it after the first season. The changes from the original story were just so bizarre it was barely recognizable.
@julianlora_ tbf, even as they butchered the 1st season, the second season has been alright so far.
The high points have been the new actor playing Mat, an accurate portrayal of the Seanchan culture, and great fight choreography.
I am reader thankful for all the complaints made by fellow readers so that I am saved from trying the TV show out. Wouldn't want to torture myself
Ive reread the books a couple of times, and trust me the second season is doing the books justice. The first one was a mess but it can be forgiven. Just enjoy the show brother, complainers are gonna complain regardless
Don't worry about it buddy, adaptations are always a bit divisive. I'm a long-time book reader and season 2 is great (season 1 was a bit meh) hope you have fun with the series you're in for a ride!
Woo-hoo! Blood Snow lets go! "He Comes! He Comes!"
Did laman know the tree history before he cut it
He probably knew it was given to them by the Aiel, he would not know why (the Aiel only knew because of the Ter'Angreal in Rhuidean) or where the sapling came from.
He wouldn't have cared anyway, the Cairhenin are so corrupted by daes dae'mar it would make no difference even if he knew the entirety of the situation.
Never read the book series, but seems like the author is strongly influenced by the middle-eastern and eastern beliefs when it comes to naming preferences and the main storyline. Throughout one video, one can see so many distinct names of certain places and characters, taken without any modifications. Though, bear in mind that I am not criticizing this particular preference.
Hehe, he was also heavy influenced by a certain british author about which W&W have already made a lot of videos...
If I remember, Robert Jordan had served in Vietnam, so maybe this is the case
@@marcbartuschka6372 Tolkien? The place names yeah, but the character names are pretty unique.
My mistake, I did not make this clear: I mean less names but more settings (incl. at least one scene) and creatures.
It's Artur Hawkwing. Not Arthur. But otherwise its a good video.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Yassssssssss
❤❤❤
In short, the invaders won and those who lost declared themselves victorious by putting them to flight.
The losers didn't even put the Aiel in retreat. They just followed them and nipped at their heels till the y crossed the Spine of the World. Then they put the spin on and declared victory. The real warriors, like Lan, knew that the Aiel War was an unmitigated disaster for the Wetlanders.
I don't think it is ever stated how Shaiel died. From the childbirth itself seems as likely as anything.
I think he said she delivered the child before she died on her injuries. So I think that means she was not dying because of the birth but because she was hit by arrow, sword or spear. But yes, since he said the wind did blow away the cloth with which she had covered her son it sounds as he came across when she was already gone..
@@marcbartuschka6372 Yep, Shaiel died alone and Tam found her and her son after that, I think maybe even attracted by Rands cries.
I love these videos, I do hope however that the they will be improved. Some of the names are incorrect, misspelled and/or mispronounced.
This was literally entire Dragon Age and Song of Ice and Fire....SMH...at least I know where they got the ideas.
I think the tedium as its been fefefred fo here is a misnomer. A large oart of creating an epic like the wheel of time or for thay matter tolkeins lord of the rings is woeld building. That takes rime to get the relevant geography esconced in the readers minds. This also plays a large part in defining varuous characters in the tale and explains a lot of their thought process. Wrt to the wheel of time , the only problem is the sheer number of chsracters and sub plots which ultimately prove vital to the main tale but its quite a task tk keep up with them.
damn the Aiel really smoked a dude for cutting down a tree
And gringos destroyed an innocent country and made the idiot 20 years unsuccessfully taming barbarians just because some dude demolished a pair of buildings.
At this moment in the books, there is only one tree of life remaining (there were plenty more during the 2nd age), and the tree that Laman cut down was born from the one of the few remaining seeds of that one. That tree was essentially "holy" and cutting it down to make a throne from was essentially sacrilege and huge insult to the favor the Aiel had shown the Cairhienin. Honour was extremely important to the Aiel, worth dying and killing for.
@@adamnesico I'm pretty sure it wasn't about the buildings, but the people in said buildings.
Reminds me of a certain blue people Avatar movie.
@@KaiHung-wv3ul Still was a complete overreaction.
I read all the book, twice! Wish paramount would have hired this creator to help make their show.
This video needs to be re edited.
Can somebody please tell him it's pronounced "eye-eel"
Lan looks way too old in that image 😂
🙂👍
W
Gondolin.
Why is your animation so choppy and laggy here?!
It's Artur not Arthur
Please get a proofreader.
again, I believe the pronunciation of Aiel is not Eye-el, but Aye-Eel. the el is a long e sound.
Ok thank you spoilers at the end.
1.3k
I Love these videos, but oh how the pronunciation gets on my nerves..
ARRR TUR ARRR TUR NOT THURRRRRRR

Imagine going into battle heavily pregnant, -5 for humanity.
I think she did it due to the profecy and because she wanted to stay with her husband (Janduin). The Aiel laws actually forbid what she did, but she convinced Janduin to make an exception for her.
@MDP1702 Shiel didn't know the whole prophecy. All she knew was that she had to leave Andor and live with the Aiel. She chose to go with Janduin on the police action, most likely because his ta'veren nature compelled her to do so. The Wheel always makes sure its Will is done, no matter how we mortals try to change things.
Sand ninjas.
Sand Zulus is a bit more accurate, but I like ninjas, so I'll allow it. Lol
I've always hated the aiel, overpowered ginger shits would be scattered by cavalry.
I don’t know.
Almogavers were similar and they mopped the floor with the turks.
Cavalry was one of the few ways to fight the Aiel more effectively, but the aiel also adapted to that.
@@MDP1702 how?
@@adamnesico Using stealth, ambushes, terrain unsuited for cavalry, use of missiles (bows, javelins, spears, ...). Also Aiel are apparently almost as fast on foot as riders on horseback (creative license).
@adamnesico The same way unhorsed cultures beat mounted warriors in our world, better use of terrain and tactics.
Why does amazon shamelessly ruin so many franchises with their piss poor adaptions? its depressing
