My best friend was "trained" by her ex POS. He acted just like this. Literally looked like acting irl. It's weird af to witness. It took her finding female clothes that weren't hers to leave, not the beatings, emotional abuse, or mental control
Beatings and emotional abuse are presented as punishment or discipline. Or spun as though it's because they feel such passion for their partner that they lose control when they feel betrayed. The victim is made to feel like they're responsible for any given incident of violence by stepping out of line.
Cheating is just a violation of the terms of the relationship. You can't play that off as "I did that to punish you" if the victim had to figure it out on their own. And the whole obsessively passionate person who can't control their temper narrative falls apart when they direct that passion at someone else. That's why it'll snap a victim out of it better than beatings will. Cheating breaks the bubble abusers keep their victims in.
