I was at this match with my Dad. I was 10 years old and was sitting in the Double Decker trying to keep warm. Trevor Francis was my hero and he didn’t disappoint. What a player he was. RIP and you’ll never be forgotten.

I was at this game as an 11 year old Leicester City fan... It was freezing, pitch was ice, they certainly wouldn't play the game these days. Leicester were a decent side but Birmingham tore them apart and can can remenber how brilliant Trevor Francis was, nobody could get anywhere near him

I seem to remember a local business man giving Kenny a Triumph TR7 for either his hat trick or scoring the sixth goal. Happy memories, nice to catch a glimpse of Frank Worthington too.

As I remember it, Paul Banks announced the giveaway for the scorer of the 6th goal in a match, and the very first game was the Derby (away) when we won 5-1. Think you are correct about Burns bagging 4!
During half time in the following Saturday's home fixture, Jasper Carrot took on some cardboard cut out Derby players and was "tripped" in the penalty area.
Jasper took the pen to get the 6th goal! lol

@@GG-zy8el no, Blues beat Derby 5-1 ( 2nd october 1976) kenny scoring 4 (connolly the 5th).. but all Burns collected for that match was the match ball a bottle of whisky and a piece of derbyshire pottery. the car was put up by Paul Banks for the "6th Blues goal scored in any match". Blues achieved the feat on December 4th 1976 vs Leicester with Kenny scoring the 6th goal, the car was presented to him on December 6th or 7th and it appeared in the Birmingham Post on Tuesday December 7th. kenny i believe sold the car and split the money between the players. In the Newspaper Paul Banks quipped perhaps i shall ask for 7 goals next time all scored outside the area and with the left foot. ( i have both newspaper cut outs)

I remember watching this on MOTD at the time. I think there was another high scoring match featured - Arsenal 5 Newcastle 3 with Malcolm McDonald getting a hat-trick against his old club. I also remember seeing Kenny Burns score at Anfield after a very rare mistake by Ray Clemence. As a Liverpool fan, that was my favourite season, because of the league and euripean cup wins, but also because of great matches like this one.

Francis played almost anywhere upfront for Birmingham, he'd roam all over left wing, right wing, central... that was the beauty of him, he could pop up anywhere on the pitch for Blues. Cloughie i think played a more rigid system and was spoilt for choice with players at Forest.
