Canada is Canada's best kept secret lol
This Little Critic I agree 🍁
Yesss🍁🍁🍁
So true !
False. It's cape Breton.
Stop giving away all our secrets haha
Amazing how such a simple sharing of something nice attracts so many idiot trolls. For anyone ever of thinking of visiting I highly recommend. As Alexander Graham Bell once said “I have traveled around the globe. I have seen the Canadian and American Rockies, the Andes, the Alps and the Highlands of Scotland, but for simple beauty, Cape Breton outrivals them all.”
My mom grew up in Nova Scotia, we live in Montreal now, she always daydreams about how beautiful Nova Scotia was.
Make that trip happen for her ...I'm from nova scotia and it is beautiful...you only have one mother lol
Jonah DeleseLeuc I live on Cape Breton and it’s absolutely amazing
@@prateek7746 the main ones is retail fishing or construction.
It’s beautiful! You have a place to stay in Cape Breton if you ever decide to visit!
Canada is a country that have tons of place for people to explore, what you see in this video is only a tiny tip of the iceberg~
Love the video.. wish it were longer! Cape Breton is magnificent and has beaches, mountains, pine forests, harbors full of colorful boats, ferries, wild animals and wild blueberries, and Tim Horton's coffee! Also, it's not unusual to see kilted bagpipers making music out on the hills. From the moment you cross into Cape Breton, you can see and feel the difference. There's Canada.. and then there's "New Scotland".. a whole different world!
Nat Geo doxes Nova Scotia.
Oh no! Now we will all flock there and eat all the lobsters!
STAY THE FOK AWAY FROM OUR LOBSTERS >:c
Nova Scotia has some of the best smoked salmon and scallops.
have to get threw me first ;)
It's actually Cape Breton Island you need to thank! Nova Scotia is just the mainland. 😋
Great video about Cape Breton. Nice story about Glenora's Glen Breton Whiskey. The video did not shown much about the iconic Bras d'Or Lakes...but then again a hard to truly experience all of Cape Breton's magic in a single visit.
Proud Cape Bretoner here!
Good ol' Nova Scotia. Proud to be a Haligonian! And Canadian!
I am Somali🇸🇴 by nationality and I would like to visit this island
It ain't no secret now.
Double negatives
Newbs so true
It's the ugly secret
It was never a secret because Its popular here were I live in nova Scotia
LOOOVE the Cabot Trail!
My Late Grandad was born In Cumberland NovaScotia He Married my Late Nanna in England had my dad then met up at pier 21 in 1945.
I live in Cape Breton. For those who are thinking of coming here, just remember that in some of the roads around here the pot holes are the same depth of an actual cooking pot.
After watching your videos about Canada, I cann't wait to go there
Been to CBI, it's gorgeous, drove the Cabot Trail.
flon57 rode it on my motorcycle.. Newfoundland is gorgeous as well.
Nature is good for us. This video is just another example.
Isn't it wonderful! Thanks for watching 💫
Wow Alistair absolutely stunning. My kind of living. And slow pace you betcha. I would move there in a hot minute. Thanks so much for sharing. It's a wonderful day!!! 🦅😀🌻
Isn't it such a beautiful place? Thanks for watching!
Would love to see more... And i live here...lol.
But seriously, i do love when people discover this province and are open minded. For another less talked about bit of awe: the view from "the lookoff", which overlooks several counties... Also, Grande Pre is gorgeous with its wineries... But my heart is in the city... With a bit of CBI mixed in there...
That was great but not long enough to do NS justice! So much more that they didn't show.
Would have liked to seen more of that Cocoon Tree Bed ;)
I miss Canada lived there for 9 years 5 in NS 4 in BC...
Kev Puk which did you prefer?
I only lived in NS for a year but have visited BC a few times.
I agree with being curious of Your comparison preferences between the East and West coasts of "Canada"?
The real secret about Cape Breton is New Waterford. It’s like the mutant child that we keep hidden in the basement.
I'm living here ..❤
Looks fantastic
Nova Scotia is beautiful! Would you want to visit?
In the morning if I could.
Oiiiiiii This hit close to home!
Now I wanna move there. So serene. Unfortunately, is a bit pricey
Wow. In nova scotia the brewery owner will personally give anyone that drives up a tour!
I am Somali🇸🇴 by rationality and I would like to visit this island
Be cateful of racism. I do not want to scare you, but it can be a factor there -- at least it was when I was a kid in the 80s.
You should be fine as a tourist. Living there in certain parts could be problematic.
Good place to visit...better place to live
My home! Saw some people I recognize too.
It's kind of an exclusive community, even I only have a great grandmother from there.
Aww I wanted him to get to Sydney
I heard that they cut that part because not even the subtitles guy could figure out what they were saying
I just watched a travel commercial on the National Geographic CZcams Channel
1:04 info
1:40 wildlife
2:02 cities
grew up in Big Brad'or nothing like CB anywhere else.. well maybe Newfoundland hahaha
how can you live in a big, stressful city like toronto if you have this masterpiece of nature?
... uh ... maybe you need to earn a living?
Put simply.... It's too isolated. There are too few high paying jobs out there compared to TO. Slow pace of life, miserable winters, it's so salty that brand new cars rust out in less than 5 years, pair that with the fact that there's literally barely anything to do except look at the coast line and drink. Eastern Canada is pretty but it is certainly not for everyone.
God I am glad to be Nova Scotian My Cape Breton family
Nova Scotia looks fun and the food looks even better except I can't eat it I'm allergic to all that good seafood except fish I want to go there sometime!!! And Iceland is also on my list.
We hope you get to visit soon! Thanks for watching!
Nat Geo came twice sailing through seal island bridge this year
Nice ad.
Best kept secret now for everyone to know now
2:28 I was expecting this

Right? Would you want to visit?
National Geographic yes !,

Where's the secret? Been there 2 out of the last three summers, and would go back in a flash.
That's the GOOD part of it...
Steve Irwins long lost son.

Try Devon Island, Canada. NASA loves driving their Mars rovers around it.
I live hereeeee
My mother’s side of the family dates back to 1630s in cape breton. Sadly my grandfathers sister inherited 200 acres and lives in Boston and plans on selling the family farm. If only I had the money
Newfoundland is the best kept secret in Canada,

I’m one of the lucky people to live there :)) Anybody else?
Nooo!!! It's only a well-kept secret if it's a secret, damn you!!!
i live there 😊
Great.. now I want lobster
I remember one particular visit with my dad in Sydney Mines.. he bought a bucket full of lobsters fresh from the fishermen's boat, and cooked them up for the whole neighborhood. What a day that was!
Show the Winter tho

Best Secret? If it was you guys for sure wouldn't know
In certain areas they even have their own language! I mean it's still technically English but you wouldn't know it to hear it
Not one mention of the man eating fish monsters that rise form the deep every new moon, and feast on the flesh of any who do not sacrifice to the Cod God, Dagon. Now THAT'S how you keep a secret!
Oh wait.. Dammit.
New Message Cod themselves are just brain dead though

Alastair Humphreys started in Dartmouth not Halifax Nova Scotia - there is even a sign on the nearby ferry terminal saying so and Cape Breton is only a part of Nova Scotia
I can't visit
I live there
Hehe well it’s not much of a secret anymore😂
S Candina via
CANADIAN
The people there have a slight Irish accent intertwined?
Taz Begum Mostly Scottish settlers I believe.
@@darrylisaacs6110 - yes, mostly Scottish. But today they all have some Irish in them, and a bit of English as well.
Umm it's basically Maine,where I live,and you don't need a passport to visit.
Stephen Cody way better than Maine
Unless you are from Cape Breton...then you need a passport..lol Cape Breton is way better than Maine, been there.
Boom on put this country in water
Pls stop exposing us
Because of what the healthcare system gets away with... 🤫
No.!! They’ll all want to come here and we’ll be over run by tourists.
Alastair Humphreys can you try to speak english?
I personally enjoy BC more.
CargoRay no...before Christ
Island?
Pat Colbourne Yes, Cape Breton Island.
Annoying narrator that detracts from the beauty of the region.
All people thanks God thinks guide please.
Cape Breton is objectively a sh*te place. Looks beautiful from early September till maybe late October if you are lucky, but not a place to live if you care about the success of your family -- wait for the cold embrace of winter till April. Born, bred, and escaped Sydney River. I'd like to see Nat Geo make a video about the flooding in Sydney, the crippling unemployment, or the intolerance against the Mi'kmaq, or what's left of french culture.
Not to mention rich yuppies seeing videos like this and driving up costs of everything. Great place to visit I guess if you want to do the tourist thing, no reason to live there unless you aspire to be an alcoholic and want to blow all your money on beer then complain that you got no money.
That's great, but I bet it is still very noisy from people. Please preserve quiet places around you.
Everyone, please watch my little nature videos. There is no talking in them. Shhh!
as long Justin Trudeau is the Prime minister or any Far left Democrat in position, I will never go
ElectroPals LLC
Why not
I don't understand you're point
Pray Unceasingly he just wants to take everyone's rights away
ElectroPals LLC
You're right dude he does but I still don't understand what that has to do with visiting Canadian sights? Don't let the man keep u down bro!
Well, we'll see you in never because the majority of us enjoy left swing politicians.
BORING - Just like so many out lying areas, they have a slower pace of life where the people are more friendly. I'm sure that is not unique to this one place in Canada, and it is certainly not unique to other countries in the world. Can't believe Nat Geo put their name to this. It's nice but not that special.
Have you actually been to CBI? If not, please go and experience it yourself. If you have, well, I guess you do not enjoy natural beauty
this is such bull shit , I lived there and its horribly poor . there is no work, so drugs and alcohol were rapid. and they were only nice to you because you were leaving ,I'd never meet such closed off anti social people in. my life.
