I was worried about the new cast, but they all did such a great job. Was actually disappointed how little Margaret appeared in Season 3.
Yeah I loved Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret so it was a treat that she was the focus in the last episode
What’s wrong with little Margaret?
S,M I think they meant that Margaret appeared very little in season 3, not young Margaret appearing in the season.
Pitty because Helena stole the show, she really understood what was all about being Princess Margaret. She should have on screen much more.
I agree
They were NOT too busy partying to perform royal duties, the whole point was that they didn't have any royal duties.
Looks like a lot of parties except for QE
Say what? Isn't New England a crown colony any more? Oh dear…
He didn't have any royal duties but she did. She was a Princess
Well, actually, by partying they were performing royal duties by building relationships and connections. Why do they have the parties in the first place? The problem was they overdid it to the point that it compromised their itinerary.
Princess margaret was 35 in 1965.......helena bonham carter is 53.......playing 35
im guessing they are letting some years pass and then it makes sense later in the season??? idk
Agree! While HBC is an excellent actress, Vannessa carried the character much better with quite similar feature. HBC has a very distinct n identifiably HBC persona its hard to see beyond. Likewise, claire foy is far better as queen as she is petite! PP & PC characters were spot on though
susan kenneally their taking the piss, they should of kept Margaret from season two
susan kenneally that’s crazy that they have somebody that’s there 50’s playing a 30 year old
Marjorie Jonas ** they’re and should’ve
I wonder why the movie didn’t replicate her actual outfits since the trip was so well documented?
Exactly! They're usually so good about those fine visual details, but these were completely different. They clearly made no attempt with the White House dinner dress.
I guess that the actual costumes would have looked dated or unattractive to modern audiences so the costume designer chose period-appropriate outfits that were more flattering.
Copyrights of dresses may be.
@@johnnzboy I doubt it
Maybe the original designers wouldn't let them use the original designs.
Princess Margaret's tour in the States could a been a season on it's own! The second episode of season 3 was so much fun to watch. I was actually rooting for Margaret when she attended the White House dinner with President Johnson.
It's my favorite episode of the 4 I've watched so far!
It's so awkward when Princess Margaret kissed President Johnson in the party at the White House, but thank god, it didn't happen in real life haha.
@@milesskillman256 I had to rewind it to see if she actually kissed him on the lips. Ha. Cause it happened so fast.
@@edinburgh1578 I know. Makes you wonder if Princess Margaret and Queen Elizabeth were bred from the same parents.
Loved loved it !! She’s so real and just is who she is .... that’s trustworthy and authentic!! Somethg this country lacks in abundance
Princess Margaret was indeed a very beautiful woman in her youth. People don’t realize that now because she lived very hard & fast.
I love Olivia and Helena, but they should've done 3 seasons per set of the cast instead of 2. Claire Foy and the gang should still be in Season 3 since the timeline suggests the royals were still in their mid to late 30s. Then Olivia and Helena should have been in Season 4 to 6.
EDIT: After watching Season 4, I guess all the casts have already settled comfortably with their roles. I like them, especially Tobias Menzies, Josh O'connor and Emma Corrin!
I dunno, would require some serious makeup to make 35 year old Claire Foy appear like the almost 50 year old Queen in 1974 and to have Olivia Colman play the queen of today, who is over 90.
Their will only be 5 seasons. The next Queen is Umbridge from HP.
Helena doesn't fit here at all.
Jonas Santiago No , they announced that season 5 will be the last. It will have a new set of Actors.
Netflix's The Crown to end after season five with Imelda Staunton as Queen www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-51323998
Not sure I'm liking the new cast but prince Phillip and prince Charles are spot on.
Exactly n their acting is goood
Agreed. While I like the actresses, I think Margaret and Elizabeth were miscast; Elizabeth is good and grew on me but I do not see Margaret in the Helena.
Yes, the casting director did a fabulous job with those two
Tammy Cicero completely agree
Tobias and Josh hit it out of the park, for sure, but let's not forget Erin Doherty as Princess Anne. She is riveting. I hope that wasn't too emotional for you all.
oh how I wish they would've included the hollywood visit in the crowns episode, Judy and all the other stars would've been awesome to see!
A M Oh yes and her bad mouthing everyone. I never knew this but she has Tourette’s syndrome.
@@Mrchair-bk5ns who? Judy?
@@islezeus Princess Margaret. Read about it. The visit to the white house wasn't covered extensively. However, that visit in particular. I believe. I also read that Judy didn't like her very much.
Mr. chair she ordered Judy to sing and Judy put her in her place by telling her across the room “I’ll sing if she Christens a ship first!” lol 😂
@@SaxonC oh my goodness that's so wonderful! Thanks for telling me. :)
I wasn`t sure about the new cast. Initially came for Matt Smith (loved doctor who/11) and grew to love the show. Helena Bonham Carter and Olivia Colman did a fantastic job!
They are wonderful. People just need to get used to them. They are the right players for these times in history moving forward..
Claire Foy would not be right for this story content IMO. It gets grittier. Same with Vanessa. These two are the right ones at the right time.
@@m.e.d.7997 Claire Foy would have looked off next to an older Prince Charles. This is working out well.
I started to watch it for Matt but know, I love it♥️
@@lorraineb.4698 yes but during much of season queen Elizabeth would have been closer to claire foys age than Olivia Coleman.
Cc Yes, but each season spans a decade so it would be easier to have an older cast to begin the season so they fit their roles towards the middle and end.
77 pieces of extra luggage probably costed more than flying privately.
yeah, princess Margaret may have had a chaotic life but she got to have fun at least :D
Loved Helena's portrait of princess Margaret
As a little girl, I dreamt of becoming a princess. Thank god that dream did not come true. Imagine the burdens of protocol, dos & donts, not being to follow your dreams and especially the downer of not being able to love without The Crowns consent. 😕
You are right, just ask little Meg
You can always give up the tittle and enjoy the money.
@@Loostyc they cut you off the money as well! No title means they would have to work to pay their bills and lifestyle just like any other working class person. But yes, given their lineage, they could have it easier.. 🤷♀
@@emmkay80 they've got a lot of private money too.
@@Loostyc I guess so.. Cool! ☺
The very least they could have done is getting a blue contact on Helena, since they were doing a close up on her as a blue eyed child and then a brown (?) eyed adult.
Ana Flávia Claire Foy also had blue eyes and there were articles about how they tried blue contacts on Olivia Coleman but they just masked her performance too much. I imagine, having made the decision that the Queen could change eye color, it wasn’t that big a deal to decide the same for Margaret. That way, both sets of sisters had the same eye colors.
“Sheer fashion disaster” often just means you’re wearing what you like and want to, regardless of other’s opinion
I am actually disappointed as it will take at least a year for season 4...
No way?
Marian H I’m nothing than grateful. Hope they take their time and give us something great. Season 3 was worth waiting.
Marian H they’re filming right now
Ikr, I had to wait for what seemed like a decade for season 3. But the wait was worth it.
You can’t rush quality! I wish it would be sooner as well, but I also know I’d finish the season in a few days (and want more still!)...thankfully, there are many wonderful shows that will keep me engaged in the meantime
A stellar episode one of the biggest highlights of the season! Helena is a goddess!😍
It was an exciting era; never to be repeated I'm sure!! 🇦🇺🇬🇧🇺🇸
I would go insane having to be in the public eye. I can barely leave my house to go to the supermarket and often have panic attacks when I do.
Juanita Richards Same here!! It would be more like a nightmare than a fairytale for me.
I’d love it!! Everyone is different, some people just thrive in the spotlight!
I’m totally with you! I would despise being in the public eye like this. I can’t imagine my every move scrutinized, and having articles written about what I did wrong. I already walk around thinking I’ve messed up everything; I seriously do not need to hear it from the global media, lol 😂
I just finished watching season 3 and lived it!
When I heard that Helena Bonham Carter took the role of Margaret i was a bit surprised. But she gave an almost heroic performance which left me awestruck. I binged the whole 3rd series in just 2 days. And now.... waitie, waitie
Olivia Colman's acting was sublime. Soooo on point!
At a party at the Beverly Hills Hotel, HRH Princess Margaret sent a message across the room she would like to hear Miss Garland to sing. Well Garland put HRH Princess Margaret in her place. Judy Garland was appalled, both by trivializing her talent and Princess Margaret’s lordly tone. “Go and tell that nasty rude little princess, that we’ve known each other for long enough and gabbed in enough ladies rooms that she should skip the ho-hum royal routine and just pop over and ask me herself,” said Garland. “Tell her I’ll sing, if she christens a ship first!” lol
Ed in Burgh Princess Margaret was insulting and rude to many celebrities that even and she made the mistake thinking Garland would let her get away with it! lol Judy was very intelligent and had a quick wit! lol
That’s brilliant! I’ve seen a few Judy Garland interviews and can imagine her saying that.
And I oop
Never underestimate our American divas and their ability to hold their own on the world stage. Go Judy! 🇺🇸
Margaret Gust i agree! Glad she is not the Queen!
Favorite episode of the season
the must kept the old cast for this 3 season...because all the characters are ( almost in the entire season) in their 30's but all looks like people in their late fifties! Claire Foy is 35 , in fact one year older than the Queen Elizabeth in 1964, and Vanessa Kirby is 31 one year older than Princess Margaret in the same year, the same for Matthew Goode ( Armstrong Jones 41) and Matt Smith 38 (Prince Phillip) ..
Totally agree with u! I wouldn't have changed the cast at least untill season n°4.
I don't understand why they chose such old actors, like no offense to their talents, but none of them look the age they mean to play...Helena is in her 50s and she's supposed to be playing somebody in their early thirties? come on now
For real
the queen was born in the late 20s and season 3 was set in the 60s and 70s she would have been between the ages of 40 and 50 so I think the new actors were age-appropriate.
Season 3 takes place in the 70s. Queen & Margaret were in their 40s at that point. Season finale was QEII silver jubilee in 1977.
I went to Princess Margaret Senior Secondary 1981-1983 Surrey BC.
Having recently watch that episode of the show, I see the original clothes she wore was way more modest, simpler and less colourful than that in the show.
My guess, to make the sisters stand apart more.
Helena is brilliant!
My favorite episode of the series so far. On episode 5.
I love this show
I hope Ralph feines (hope I'm spelling it right) who played voldermort and plays the new M in 007 ends up being Philip in season 5 if they make a 5th season
He’s the same age as the current actor, so that’s unlikely. Would have to be someone older.
@@jourdainjardin846 yeah but couldn't they use ageing technology to make him look older?
@@madeleinedacey8489 oh didn't really think of that
I love her fashion 😍
At 3:51 looks like King George VI in a women's outfit
Helena bonham carter fascinates me, she has got to be one of the most talented actors on the planet and the role seems perfect for her and she perfect for the role.
I agree
Oh gosh!!! Helena is Margaret 😍😍😍😍😍😍 I'm definitely watching this.
Young Tony in real life is actually attractive
He had star quality and was attractive. I hear the Royal Family always liked him.
Lorraine B. Yes- I always think it was quite telling that the family continued to use him as their photographer even after the divorce. Some of the most beautiful photos of Diana were taken by him..
Yes they were both good-looking . But their daughter turned into a man.
@@wandaborowy9400 ??? Do tell. I thought their kids were good looking! Queen Elizabeth is close to them especially; Princess Margaret's daughter.
Yes he was! The actor portraying him, not so much.

Cant wait to see Margaret Thatcher and HM in the next season

Iconic
I was a bit worried about the new cast in season 3.
Both Olivia and Helena was outstanding.
Pity one have to wait for so long until season 4.
Agree. And what about Toby(Phillip)? He was marvellous as well!)
Thank God this came as the second episode! I was bored already by the new queen. HBC is easily the MVP this season, along with Josh O’Connor.
Oh boo hoo

H B C portrays her in a better light than she really was
She had a Genovia wave!!
She is a great actress, but I don’t like the fact that she doesn’t look like the real princess Margaret.
Neither did the first actress who played her in the previous seasons.
CATHOLIC THOT - At least the first actress had green eyes.
Well it matters not anymore. They picked her. A side note. The actress did meet Princess Margaret years ago before she died. There was an interview on the Graham Norton Show where she mentioned this and other incident where it was meant of like Princess Margaret would of approved of this actress playing her.
Helena is great actress and she did amazing playing margaret's role
@@Ellieee1117 I agree.
When I heard clancy Brown talking as lyndon b johnson all I could picture was Mr krabs saying "hey spongebob boyo I'm the president of the United states"
Would love to know more about their White House dinner with Johnson!! Did it really happen the way the Crown portrayed it? Limerick contest and all?! lmao!
Am I the only one who thinks the actors they hired for this season are way too old?
That is exactly what I have thought ! I love HBC but she is already in her 50's and she does look like a woman in her 50's! That is especially problematic in the last episode when she starts an affair with the young and hot guy. Margareth was in her 40's and could still be attractive and desirable in the eyes of 25 year old man. In the show due to HBC age it looks as if that guy was only after her money and status.
Jaekoff yes, they look 20 years older than previous cast because they ARE 20 years older , it would only work if the time jump had been 2 decades but season 3 is picking up in 1964, it makes no sense The Queen in the late 60s didn’t look that old & they’ve aged Olivia Coleman so that she looks even older than her 45 years of age
Yes, yes, and yes! I guess I am the minority here. Have tried to watch this show and I keep wanting to see the previous actors who did a wonderful job! I still don’t understand why the cast was changed. Whatever happened to makeup in aging people? I am done with this show.
@@angelaeason9366 do you think make up will make the 30 year old Claire Foy look like a 60 year old Queen Elizabeth? I don't get it all of you are too attached the the Old cast the point isn't to look like the cast it is the look like the real people. By the time season 4 ends we'll be in the 80's do so still think the same old cast will do?
The series ends in the late '70's. No, not really.
Please bring season 4...please hurry...
Not until next year bud
I know..just excited..love this show
I loved the host’s TOP!!! So gorgeous 😍
It’s a dress from vampire wife and it comes in many different colours :)
Natasha Reynolds thanks!
there's like 5 inches height difference between the actress playing younger Margaret and HBC hahaha
I Wonder if they'll have a scene in season 5 or 6 based on that time in Margaret's early 70s when she was so pissed (drunk) she stepped in a scalding hot bath and badly burnt her feet
I am such a huge fan of the crown and as all of you have, I waited so long for the new season just to be disappointed. It just didn't do anything for me like the previous seasons sad to say.
Interesting.
Margaret and Anne best part of season 3
That red 'N' on Netflix's logo with the black background gives me a weird ass optical illusion...almost like 3-D.
😍😍😍
“A royal hangover”.sounds like a hangover
She was beautiful 👍
Not on the inside
Part of me wished I had a lever to flip back the chair like they have on the Graham Norton Show LOL!
I always thought princess Margaret was taller than Princess Elizabeth. Beside Helena Bohnan Carter will remain in my mind as Queen Mother Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon. And roles for Lindon Johnson, Prince Phillip and Prince Charles was excellent appointed.
Artur - Prince Phillip and Prince Charles did a great job.
Tucson! Visited by a royal. That’s crazy
I would like to see at least one episode of the Crown dealing with a Canadian issue (patriation of the Constitution).
Tony seemed like a nice guy. Always smiling.
Ahhh, wouldn’t it be nice if all the smiley boys were actually nice on the inside too! (and faithful, and reliable, and talented)
Besides Tony having a baby with somebody else just before the wedding and affairs with young men, he also left her nasty notes saying she looked like a Jewish manicurist. Not a marriage made in haven.
@@magnamarianneczagany8970 Poor Margaret. I heard the Royal Family really like him though. HE liked them and was very nice to them all.

You know who would have been perfect to play Princess Margaret? Benedict Cumberbatch’s wife, Sophie Hunter, looks just like her.
In the same way that Corbyn looks like Brad Pitt.
OMG you are right!
Helena better get an award
Is the Crown series available on Netflix in India also??? please tell me
What is the map this clip is using? Something about that placement of Washington, especially, seems off or am I an idiot?
Rachel M It looked okay to me. In what sense did it seem off to you? I think a lot of those cross country trip trackers end at NYC which is higher on the east coast. Maybe your eye is used to that?
What tune is playing in back ground
Cadê os olhos azuis???
Nicely done but the music is really annoying. Lol
What’s the back ground tune
Helena Bonham Carter is an excellent actress and this isn't her fault, but much of her performance as Margaret -- when Margaret is out in public -- is camp. And when not actual camp, just excessively churlish. Margaret was obviously a complex person, but I doubt this characterization does her justice. I also find the portrayal of Elizabeth disappointing -- for just the opposite reason. I'm sure Olivia Coleman is an excellent actress but her facial expression barely changes throughout the 10 episodes of Season 3. I much preferred the previous cast.

You neglected to mention Los Angeles.
The dresses of Princess Margaret was different
Helena bonham Carter is a brilliant actress, but doesn’t princess Margaret resemble Helen Mirren much more at that point of her life?
Dame Helen would be perfect for later on the story, perhaps in two seasons
Mirren is 74
@@mandalorian8005 They have picked another actress who looks like she will be great for the part. I believe her name is Staunton.
Umm Helen is 75, Margaret was in her late 40s at this time... how is that a good match?!
Jourdain Jardin Helen Mirren looks way more like Princess Margaret, even today, than Helena Bonham Carter. The question of apparent visual age disparity is easily fixable by good makeup and sleight cgi. Need I remind you this is a filmed and heavily edited television series?

When an American is in America, simply in the presence of a British royal, an American can observe American customs and leave whenever they bloody feel like it.
It’s funny the Brit’s would even need a tour over here in America we’re in good shape y’all are our homeboys. Judging by the flame we get online from across the pond we are the ones needing to do some outreach 😂
I like H.B.C, especially in Forester adaptions, quite good but I just don’t see her as the best choice for this character. That princess seemed imperious and saturnine at the same time, while Carter only managed to appear theatrical and over the top, but that’s the film world... the actress who played the Queen seemed even worse.
What happens if you just decide to get up and leave her party
Felix Qt I was thinking the same thing. We’re not talking about Henry VIII here!🤔
Felix Qt in Great Britain or the commonwealth, you would have probably faced some kind of official admonishment, possibly disciplinary action if you were a member of the military or royal staff. But this was the USA, and royal protocol could only be “enforced” as a courtesy
"Fashion was very close to Margaret's heart." It's a pity the same can't be said for the hostess here. That get up is a sad cross between nursery panto and a z-list horror film.
Was that Mr. Krabs playing Johnson??
It sure was.
And Helena Bonham Carter played her character too damn well. I love her dearly.
So Helena was much cooler than her in real life
Who is number one?
Hard to feel sorry for second daughters and sons. They get all the fun and rebellion. Sure they are "prisoners" in their own rights but someplace in earth: we people are struggling to feed ourselves, doing whatever is necessary. I don't feel sorry for their struggles because that's life. Boohoo, suck it up!
As long as you take your own advice, don't you think?
The cost of the tour is incorrect. No way it was 1.50000.00 pounds. Get real.
