I refuse to thank NISA because they kill us on these low print runs 😂. This game hasn't been in stock ever since I pre-ordered the EU LE months ago.
It's in stock as we speak, only 30 copies left on the ps5 now though and 60 odd on the switch. They did put a few more on as they were sold out awhile ago. I don't mind how nisa EU does it though because they list the games early and you have ample time to order. Trails into reverie CE was listed months before the release date, maybe even close to a year to get your preorder in.
Square enix EU and tecmo koei EU are far worse for getting hold of their collectors editions I find.
I'm working my way through the Crossbell Arc now. I've only played some of the first Cold Steel game and still have to get through the Sky Trilogy, but I cannot wait until I get to the point where I can play Reverie. I have the Special Edition pre-ordered in the mail and it will happily wait on my shelf for me until I finally catch up with the series. What a wonderful world they created!
I'm also at Crossbell, recently finished Zero after the Sky trilogy, now i'm into Azure and then the Cold Steel, as i didnt want to play them out of order i had to wait a lot until we had the Crossbell games!
@@feiwong3634 yeah I waited until the Crossbell Arc to release mainly because of ease of access. They are perfect on the Switch. I wish the Sky trilogy would come to the switch too!

I'm slowly getting into the Trails series and just recently finished the Sky trilogy for the first time. Sky the 3rd is my favorite, so it sounds like I will like this one when I eventually get to it.
i got into the trails series last year, i did nothing but play and play through all the game, it really had a hook on me
im really excited for this game, crossbell and erebonia are my favorite arcs so i can tell this game is gonna mess me up emotionally
one hope though is i hope the calvard games are translated quickly
THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE GAME. If you've played everything up until ToCS IV, going through Liberl and Crossbell, too, then you have to play this.
I have wanted to play this in English for a long time now, and I'm glad I can replay it now, with all the character and NPC dialogues. Since the one available way to play it before was the Japanese copy with English overlay method, and by following a strict pattern to play it without freedom to roam and talk to whoever you want, it was difficult. But now, that will change. It will be a blast, for sure!

With Atelier Marie's remake being released 1 week later I just don't have the time to play this one even on VERY EASY mode.
I have the time so I will play on VERY EASY mode and grind to MAX lvl ASAP else I cant one shot bosses
Actually max lv is 180 BEFORE the POST game and since the FINAL dungeon only has like lv 150 to lv 160 enemies IN it you still won't hit lv 180 on ALL 40 party members then even with ALL the SHINING pom items used then.
Theirs a few bosses you can't 1 shot anyways even on Very easy mode at lv 250.

The part with Wazy out of the blue hitting on Lloyd is because of that certain scene in Azure. All I can say is def look forward to Trails into Darkness/before dawn, if you checked the certain scenes.
Hopefully with the first Kuro game already ported on Steam by Durante the translation wont take too long, I'm expecting at least by the end of next year
awesome review - as excited as i am for this game i dread the heavy harem themes that seemed to become rampant in cold steel.
i really hope they dial it back in the kuro no kiseki saga. if anyone has played those games before and can dispel my fears please do!
To be fair, the harem themes are definitely dialed back here. No Bonding Events and a very focused story that’s balancing 3 protagonists means that they cut a lot of the fat, harem crap included. It’s definitely still there, but far less than the previous games.
As for Kuro, it’s a much more mature story with far, far less of that. That’s not to say there aren’t a few characters interested in the protagonist, but it isn’t at all to the same degree and generally handled better. Can’t speak for Kuro 2, but I do here it shows up a bit more there, though still nowhere near the CS levels.
Got my preordered ready and I’m working through each game now can’t wait to get to the final game
After the fast paced combat of XVI I'm definitely looking forward to switching it up with this afterwards. Excited to dip back into this world 😊

I'm excited but still working on Cold Steel 4. That is a massive game in of itself. I hope Reverie sells well so we'll keep getting these gems.
The gaps are unfortunate, but the nature of these games does make them incredibly time consuming to localize, sadly. But yeah, very much looking forward to Reverie. Doing a replay of Cold Steel 3 and 4 right now, just to give myself a refresher, and to get that clear data on the PC (originally played them on PS4). Fingers crossed I'll be diving into Reverie this weekend. I'm only about halfway through replaying 3 right now, but between this weekend, and Tuesday being a holiday, I'm optimistic.

I need to get this game but I am still new to these Cold Steel games.
As a big fan of the trails series i can say that this game became one of my top trails game. I just absolutely love it. To date its my longest played trails game with over 300hr put into. I ended up playing the patched jap version which wasnt perfect but did the job lol. I def agree with you when the game goes into sexual harassment mode. Its just so unnecessary and takes away from the narrative. Maybe its my old age but i just dont find unwanted touching funny... my favorite offense is the implied relationship of angelica and george but that a converation for another time. Still i think the game does a great job closing this chapter out.. giving the characters a great send off..it was def was great seeing all the teams come together and work towards a common goal. Cant wait to replay the game in english.
Yeah I also played them all, Kuro 1 included, and Reverie definitely was the one with the best gameplay. Even though the story isn't the best, it's also the one with the best pacing. And 40+ playable characters is awesome.

In the end, I'm kinda glad we had to wait for this game. Even though I really loved Trails of Cold Steel 4, I must admit that I felt kinda burnt out with Trails after finishing it. Now, I am super hyped to dive back into this fantastic universe!

I will think about this, the whole level 100 and all heroes makes it feel like a spin off/set up before the calvard arc (... honestly I think its time to move on with a new setting and party members)- im def getting it but seeing how this game isnt being sold in regular stores here in Sweden but only on some gaming sites I rather not pay 70 dollars for it. But if I find it for 50 or, im on it!

Ugh; I opted for the PS4 version specifically for the VR. I had no idea it didn't come with bonuses that the PS5 has. But I am really hyped to try the VR mode 😅

I didn’t play the switch version. Just the PS5 version, but the loading was really quick there.

Totally agree with you that some of the scenes are off-putting though. I don't mind sexy outfits in a game but sexual harassment played up as a joke is gross. It sucks because the rest of the story is very well-written.

I'm a big fan of the combat of Cold Steel but the dialogue and story is exhausting. I've thought about trying to get into the Crossbell games but seeing the dialogue here you shared is definitely making me hesitate lol.
I'd really like to get into this series cause the gameplay is awesome! The character designs are cool and there's clearly a lot of love put into this franchise. But man, I stopped halfway through Cold Steel 3 cause the story is just... frustrating. Maybe I will give it another try one day.
Crossbell/ Liberl Arcs have wayyyy better stories than Erebonia. I hate the Erebonian one.
I started disliking the series at Cold Steel 3 too. The dialogue becomes boring and same-y, and the story is just not exciting at that point. I managed to finish all of Cold Steel games but my opinion of the story and characters diminished a lot
This is one of those series that I am so far behind that I don't even know if I can/want to play the 9 games left to catch up. lol Its so daunting. I have only played and beaten Cold Steel 1 and Trails in the Sky. Both were great setups for the rest of their arcs but with so many games to play and liking variety, It would probably take me years to catch up to Reverie and by then three new games will be out. lol I just wish they shortened up the time for some of these games. My only gripe is the pacing is glacier slow. They could speed things up a bit and cut out some of the meaningless BS that doesn't really add to the story. I think I have to finish Trails in the Sky before anything else tho just because those characters and that ending really grabbed me.

Not enough female MCs in Trails, I think. We get YET ANOTHER dude in Kuro and I didn't like him much (I finished Kuro 1 with the english patch).
@@armorvil Sounds like Kai no Kiseki has a FeMC too - alongside Van and Rufus (When the words are translated, the mysterious man says something like he "Shouldn't exist" - a reference to Reverie's ending)

I beat Kuro 1 recently, and I don't think I enjoyed any Trails since CS2. I really disliked the robots, and I think the arc for Class VII overstayed it's welcome. Now with Kuro, there's even more characters to the point where they are just more shallow with less deep stories. I enjoyed how fleshed out characters were in Sky and Crossbell. Now it just seems like Sanrio characters all coming together just for the sake of making every fan happy by forcing a simple narrative. It reminds me a lot of Star Wars Episode 9.
I love Trails and may play every title, but I am unsatisfied with the direction it's going recently. I would rather have the old characters be the main, or just finish the world's story already. This series drags on horribly.
Sorry to be negative, but this is just my honest opinion. Just an opinion, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels like this.
Also with Hajimari, they gave each character such short and simple dialogue forcing everyone in for the sake of character participation. Someone can say a sentence, and 5 other characters will say "right" "okay" "yeah!" after that making you press A fifty times to get through the horrible repetitiveness.
I feel like I'm grinding the story. Not my idea of fun.
I hoped itd get bettter with Kuro. I hated the chatacter bloat in Cold Steel. :(

Kuro is a whole new cast of characters, so we just have to keep getting used to new characters and it's exhausting 😵

I play Trails since Sky and it was so cool how you had 1-2 new characters each chapter and they'd leave and be replaced. Or how in Crossbell you had a small team of four.
Steel is extremely bloated and both character development and story suffer from it which is a shame.
@@ninototo1yes, and now that we spent so much time learning about characters in sky and Crossbell, we leave them unfinished and have to constantly learn about new characters with less character development while chasing a horribly slow moving narrative. The first games were good, but the series as a whole is bad thanks to Cold Steel and onward

David, you need levity and humor to break up the seriousness in any story. It might not be your kind of humor but it is still necessary to get a laugh in here and there otherwise we'll be overcome with despair like Rean faced in the beginning of CS4 😅

Really they would just release ALL the games in this timeline on the same consoles. That way we wouldn't have to dig through the lore to know what's going on.

Kind of the Gacha for that is really ONLY for the extra party members however the Mini games/Doors similar to Sky the 3rd are actually chosen in a very SPECIFIC order in fact the very FIRST door battle a fight against Rixia gets you the 1 quartz that shows chests/monster enemies on screen with it equipped.
BUT if you don't get the Gacha party member you want out of the Yellow/Golden stones SAVING the game AFTER you first get the stones will Always result in the same party member at first you SHOULD have Angelica first join for the EP/CP/Regen based master quartz so if you don't get her as the FIRST Golden stone party member the ONLY way to change THAT is to try to get the OTHER stones the Red/Blue ones or the Grey ones for random items.

As a rpg its way more satisfying than ff16. Ff has felt lot more devil may cry set in a rpg type world. Trails takes you back to more true style rpg

I really didn't like the method of storytelling trails of the sky 3rd chapter.
So hearing that this is largely the approach of this game really sucks. That said. I need to see how this story arc ends. This game was a must buy for me even if it got panned. I'm glad to hear its good. Also I have experience playing the first Octopath Traveller...and being forced to play one act of each characters story before moving on sucked. So yeah...measured expectations here.
Concerns aside I'm a big fan of this franchise and I'm confident there will be plenty of memorable moments. I do wish they'd take certain steps with this franchise as a whole but I can't get into that without spoilers and that's not cool on a video like this.
Conclusion? I thought the story concluded with 4? I thought this was a new story arc
It's the epilogue and bridge game to the next arc just like Trails 3rd is an epilogue to Sky and bridge to Crossbell and Erebonia arcs.

Completely understand the turn off around the predatory behavior. I was able to stomach it in Trials of Cold Steel 1-2, but there’s a scene in 3 that turned me off to the whole series.

I just can't get into new JRPGs with this type of 3d anime style for the characters. I also can't get into new anime for the same reason. I think I have old man shaking his fist at things syndrome because I used to like 2d anime-style rpgs and older anime in general. I'm not hating on those who do like this style, but for me it's off -putting.
I mean, I saw IGNs complaining about: "Reverie does have an issue with a massively bloated cast - there are over 50 playable characters" the thing is, its fan service and they wanna please everyone, I get that and I respect their attitude towards the fans of never abandon peoples favorite characters and building them up through multiple games and multiple stories but - even in cold steel 4 it became almost ridiculous at one point. seeing 20+ playable characters in cutscenes next to each others. You CAN respect a character and doing fan sevrice while not always making it playable or putting them all at once on screen - just bring them out at one point or more points over the game. But hey, being able to bring YOUR favorite character into a party of others is always cool, cant deny it.
The issue is that CS4 didn't go all the way. All the returning characters in CS4 are fully equipment and quartz locked and only available in a few sequences. Some others are Masterquartz and weapon locked while being much more available. Its just sad because higher difficulties make those characters not worth playing with.
Hajimari did a good job for giving you both a ton of characters but also splitting them up across 3 storylines which couldve benefited coldsteel 4 as well.
