Do you like these Radial Engines ?

  • @wackaircaftmechanic2312

I love firing up my M-14P on my Wilga! It sounds absolutely beautiful. Radial engines just have something about them that are so cool and fun.

I plain and simple love radial sound. Germany is my Home.

Radial engine is best engine for plane. Very reliable and you can stack them one after another increasing horse power as needed

Those goofballs with the P&W needed to keep cranking to start and it would have blown the fire out.

To this day, I still find those "rotary
adials" to be quite strange! The entire engine spins on its own crankshaft or axis. How the neck does it get the fuel mixture and the electricity for the spark plugs? I remember being about 16 years old in 1974 seeing one for the first time at an air show!

A rotary is very different from a radial. With the former you are correct in saying that the cylinders rotate around a fixed crankshaft and yes the introduction of fuel and spark is 'interesting'. The radial is a completely different kettle of fish with the cylinders and crankcase fixed in postion and the piztons and crankshaft rotating making it much easier to control fuel induction and spark.

Many folks need to be familiar with start proceedures; not burn up the starters; especially the 4360s,have a prop one can pull through, spark booster current etc drain lower plugs as the engine has been sitting.

I love when the spin fast enough it looks like they start bending Reality

That's because of a crappy camera, doesn't have the correct "frame speed" for recording this..interestingly, this seems to be common with newer digital cameras...whereas my old VHS camcorders from the early/mid 1990's recorded propellers spinning in perfectly natural fashion...no bending, stopping, spinning backward, fluttering, etc....

Impressive but the exhaust gas no more suitable today. Living in Germany I saw the JU52 with original BMW-Radials. They started nearly without any clag.

1:50. Who are those idiots? They are trying to put out gas and oil flame extinguish with water? And with the electric power on board? They must have a lot of CO2 fire extinguishers around

You can’t put out a raw fuel fire with water. 🤦‍♂️
