Welcome back Paul. I've missed you and Kate Louise over the last few weeks. Withdrawal symptoms were starting to show!! Your music skills are fine. Please, Please keep the videos coming.
Thanks Malcolm...the concertina is a work in progress....I think, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Now I have another reason for watching your videos. You, playing the concertina, adds another dimension. I hope you do this often. It goes well with the scenery and dinghy cruising. Thank you.
Thanks mate....it's taken me 6 months just to learn 3 tunes, but it is fun and my wife doesn't seem to mind the noise!!!! cheers Paul
Good enough for a learning
Thanks Anders, cheers Paul
Charming. Thank you Paul!
My pleasure and thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Thanks Paul happy as always to see you back
Thanks Dave, cheers Paul
Making music is for your entertainment, stuff what others think so long as you have fun, is all that matters. Keep ip the good work.👍😎
Thanks Craig for your support and watching, cheers Paul
Paul, great sailing and camping video, I especially enjoyed your little tunes on the concertina- Well done You! The Stornaway looks great too..
Thanks for your support , cheers Paul
Hi Paul, Welcome back. I've been following all your videos for the last 2 months and I am a big admirer of your work. My story is not one that is going to change your life. But your story has certainly changed mine. I grew up kind of like you sailing since I was a kid, so I know what you are feeling when you tell your stories. It's like I'm there with you and my brother. So, back to changing my life you have encouraged me to quit giving up on my dreams of sailing. At almost 66 yrs old, I am using my background as a boat builder to design my own 5.20 M dingy cruiser. SO, thank you so much and congratulations on your 1 million viewers. I'll send you pictures when it's done. Roberto
Hi Robert, 66 is not old, it's a brilliant time in life to enjoy doing what you've always wanted to. Please send me some build photos and where are you in this watery world of ours?, Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Hi Paul, my wife and I are touched by your positive response. Thanks for the encouragement. We are in Washington state for the last 20 years. Soon to be on the rode in a converted van-looking for the "promise land":) the boat is just a design at this point.@@SailingKateLouise
The promised land is out there somewhere happy hunting, cheers Paul@@robertogarcia5669
Was nice to meet you that afternoon. Also neat to see our boat in your video. We were heading back to our mooring at McCarrs Creek after a night at Cottage point. Hopefully will see you out there again sometime. Congrats on 1 million views.
Hi yes see you on the water again, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Wow what a surprise, such a wonderful video having dinner in paradise, playing the concertina too and then a pict of my boat. My Atkin gaff rigged wooden beauty. Re-Launch next summer and I think her name will be "Take Me away" Beautiful area you have! Chris
Thanks Chris yes we are really lucky near Sydney and not a big tidal range either, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
😎love the concertina
Thanks Robert....I'll keep practising, it can only get better, cheers Paul
Oh how much I miss the Hawkesbury River & cottage point restaurant , spent many good days getting merry on the deck & staying overnight. The whole area is a true treasure for Sydney, so beautiful wonderful bird life sounds and painting spots. I could spend six months wandering throughout the park for locations without getting board with the views. Thank you for sharing such a delight.⭐
Hi Merritt your description is perfect and the flying skills of the sea plane pilots exceptional.....but they do get close sometimes, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Your last tune was a traditional Newfoundland tune “mussels in the corner” ! Was not expecting that! Awesome. Really like your channel. Keep posting , it will help me get through the winter. I sail a Sirius 21 and a 16 ft gaff- rigged dory that I built a few years ago.
Thank you please send me a photo is your boat if you haven't already to sailingkatelouise@gmail.com and thanks for watching, I hope your winter is not too cold, cheers Paul
Unfortunately our winter is always cold Paul. I will send a pic of my boats soon. Thanks for the response; fair winds.
Great video Paul. Thank you.
I managed a brief sail in the Solent yesterday but as you know, it is pretty chilly here now & gets dark early.
Very glad of the drysuit!
Jim.
Thanks Jim, it's all coming back now.....aah a dry suit if only. Thanks for watching , cheers Paul
loved your trip and back gound music.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment, cheers Paul
A lovely Sail!!!
Thanks James, cheers Paul
Great to watch another interesting sailing adventure Paul and Congratulations on one million views! Your concertina playing was an unexpected bonus & sounded great. It sounds like a real challenge to learn! Love the scenery & looking forward to watching your next sailing adventure..thanks Paul
Thanks for watching Virginia, cheers Paul
Still looking to catching up on the water, Paul. And, I enjoyed the concertina too I Cheers, Bill.
Yes Bill I'll give you a call in a few days and see how you are going, cheers Paul
Congratulations on a million views Paul!! I toast to your success and thanks for another great video! Cheers!⛵⛵⛵
Thanks a million!, cheers Paul
Lovely film 😀. The scenery, wildlife sounds , and concertina were fab, as was the sailing ⛵️
You're too kind, cheers Paul
Nada más lindo que escuchar hompipe cuando estamos en la amarra al atardecer!.Te sigo desde Argentina!
Muchas gracias, seguiré practicando y espero mejorar. Gracias por mirar desde Argentina y compartir con tus amigos navegantes, saludos Paul.
Well done on the million views milestone. Well deserved reward. The accordion has big future.
I skipped past you as we relocated from Qld to Tassie. I’m sorry I missed the opportunity to catch up on one of your trips. Cheers Chris.
Thanks Chris. I didn't realise you had permanently moved to Tassie. So many good sailing spots keep the videos coming, cheers Paul
@@SailingKateLouise Currently on one of the bucket list items on tassies east coast.
Very nice, congratulations on the million views!!
Thanks mate, cheers Paul
❤ Paul ! Two things great back on the water n million viewers. 👍… oooh ! Seem like I saw some kind of bloom in the higher tree tops.
Second: sadly I have report I just lost my first mate (wife) of 56 yrs plus. We’re okay but the house a bit empty n too much time leftover as I was her 24/7 caregiver.
Looking forward to Spring up here n some dingy sailin😮g.
Fair winds, Nick.
Oh so sorry to hear that sad news Nick...I'm feeling for you, cheers Paul
Hi Paul, Great video, Didnt know you were a virtuoso. Keep at it. The trail bike may have been a liar bird. I was on an Outward Bound coarse in upper Hawksbury in 1972 and would have sworn there was a bulldozer down the gully. All the best.
Maybe you are right it could have been a Lyre bird....not sure about the virtuoso bit, thanks for watching cheers Paul
Congratulations! Love your videos 👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks so much!! Mark, cheers Paul
congratulations with a million. Keep up the music its good
Thanks Ross, I think my wife is coming around to the concertina...cheers Paul
The scrambled eggs looked very good!
Thanks mate I love a good scrambled egg, cheers Paul
New sub. Really enjoy your videos. Very relaxing. Thanks for making. 🙏 And congrats on 1 million views!
Thanks Francis for your support, cheers Paul
Ok Paul,
Now you MUST play your instrument for us for a short time ever video. How much fun and joy it adds to your already lovely videos.
oh not sure about that....I don't want to drive people away! thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Thanks Paul
Perhaps consider recording at home then drop the short sound track over the video in the studio from time to time. Then you are not under so much pressure . If I ever get out of this hospital and join you on a short raid I will bring my guitar and we will play a few reels together. Long time subscriber.
Another great video Paul, you will have to learn a few sea shantys on the concertina. would be great on the Dykin.
Yes learning a few sea shanties at the moment....don't hold your breath, cheers Paul
Paul, you are a small boat sailor so you are genetically predisposed to finding jet skis annoyingly loud. Great little instrument for taking on a boat. I learned trombone at age 45 and that was a challenge too!!
Wow Trombone ....that's a little big for Luna Blu, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
A great reminder of summer sailing for all of us starting the UK winter. Welcome back Paul. Love your videos. You have some truly wonderful cruising spots around Sydney. Fantastic to see. And you are right: a peaceful evening and night on the water with just nature to accompany you is good for the soul.
Thanks Nigel. We have got a couple of group Raids coming up before Christmas so keep your eye out for those and have a great Christmas yourself, cheers Paul
Missed your videos. Congrats on the mil views!
Thanks Karl, cheers paul
The most lovely channel i subscribed. Thank you!❤❤❤
and thank you for subscribing, cheers Paul
@@SailingKateLouise You are my Idol , i wrote that , and recommended your channel to all friends of mine.
Thanks you so much@@hieubb1802
Congrats on you Million Views! The concertina seems like the ideal companion on a boat. Keep it up as I enjoyed your performance! Good luck on your outboard fix.
Thank you very much! and thanks for watching, cheers paul
Great to see you back. Love the button accordion. Look forward to seeing and hearing more.
Too kind Neil, thanks for your support, cheers Paul
Enjoyed the vid !!! Yes , tranquility is much needed 🙂👍🏼 Keep playing, you will only get better, good job. I can’t wait to get my Dory done, it’s been 6 years but y’all keep giving hope to finish. Sail On😁
Thanks Duane send me some build photos, to sailing katelouise@gmail.com, cheers Paul
Great to find your channel mate!
Wonderful to see some local Sydney content and I enjoyed watching you sail and camp on your little boat in seclusion, where my big ol girl can't go...
Happy days.
Thanks mate, yes think small, cheaper and still lots of fun, cheers Paul
Great video Paul and your concertina playing is very respectable. Hope to catch up soon. Cheers Steve
Thanks Steve...I feel a duet coming on...but I still have to read the music, cheers Paul
Congrats - well-done videos - a nice friendly bunch of sailing mates.... and all living well... Excellent result...
Glad you enjoyed it
Lovely! The concertina was good too.
Thanks John, it was good to be back on the water. Check out Sailing Duyfken if you like tall ships, my other channel, cheers Paul
OMG! A Wren! I bought that exact same model last month! It's a big change from playing bowed strings!
Hi Allen, yes I'm new to music but having a lot of fun with the Wren, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
@@SailingKateLouise I've been putting in 2-3 hours a day on this and love it... well... I think it might be a bit of an effort on the push and draw, and I may upgrade majorly in the near future. But if I may recommend a great tune, that I've played for many years on fiddle and found it works perfectly on concertina: "The Orange in Bloom (the Sherborne Waltz)"! It's a classic morris waltz, and it's super easy on the Wren (all middle row) and sounds great!
tahnks mate I'll give it a go, cheers Paul@@AllenGarvin
Hi Paul, great to see you back. It was amazing when you were playing the concertinas and then you went on showed a video of the water and trees, it was just like watching a great Hollywood movie. The Music was great with the scenery you had.
I thought I was watching a seen from Master and Commander.
Thanks Mate, the concertina playing has a long way to go before any public performances but it's a good way to keep the brain active. Thanks again for watching, cheers Paul
Mist your videos while you where gone but glad your back! We are settling in for a long winter here in eastern Ontario and looking forward to enjoying adventures on the water with Kate Louise! Even enjoying the concertina Thankyou🙃
Ooh Robert...."even enjoy the concertina playing"....I'll keep practising and promise it will get better, but it's not easy for a non-musical person. I hope you winter is not too cold, thanks for watching and leaving a comment, cheers Paul
Nice with peas, peace or what we have.
I have to attribute Len with that saying, "peas maketh the man" but he only had dried peas ...not quite the same and we could all do with a bit of peace, cheers Paul
Nice video of you going into summer just as we're going into winter here in Wisconsin. Enjoyed the concertina; no need to apologize for it. Looking forward to hearing more of it as you progress.
Thanks Mate, kind words and great to get feedback, thanks for watching again, cheers Paul
Thanks for this. Love the concertina and I hope you’ll stick with it!
Hi well hopefully it's never too late to learn an Instrument.....hopefully. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
good to see you back, didn't mind the concertina playing at all.
Oh you are just being kind...thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Hi Paul, the hornpipe seemed perfect for a sailing video. I enjoyed it! Regards Mark, Gawler South Australia
Thanks Mark you're too kind. It's very hard to play fast but I won't give up, more practise, cheers Paul
Good to see you back on the water Paul. I just got back from 4 days on the Myalls, very changeable conditions, but I think that is just typical spring time sailing. Hope to catch you on a trip soon. P:S I am thinking of taking up the Bagpipes.
Great Phil but I think the bagpipes are a little harder...but don't let that stop you!! Beginning to think of the Gippsland lakes next year...I'll call you, cheers Paul
Great video! Please keep us updated on your progress with the concertina.
Oh only if you really want me too....thanks for watching, cheers Paul
concertina is coming on I think! There is an old saying `the definition of a gentleman is someone who can play the banjo
but refrains from doing so` ;)
Well you are probably right...that's why I made sure there was nobody around....thanks for watching again, cheers Paul
I quite enjoyed the concertina
Thanks for watching...it can only get better, cheers Paul
So glad you're back! Been having withdrawal symptoms. And "Bravo!" to 'The Sydney Raid Minstrel!" As for galley boxes, there's also a good video by Sailing Skismo.
Thanks Mike. Sharing my time with the tall ship Duyfken, on which I volunteer as crew. Check out sailing Duyfken on youtube, to see my adventures sailing down to Hobart and back, if you haven't seen them already. Thanks again Mike I appreciate the comments, cheers Paul
WEll Done Paul - hope you're mum is all good.
Yes all good and thanks for asking, cheers Paul
First - the concertina!
Amazing! Not the easyest instrument in the world and you did a fairly okay reel there without mistakes. At least - I am impressed.
And for your sailing. Lovely as ever. You are facing the summerseason now, as I am freezing up here in Denmark. So looking forward to enloying some nice trips with you down younder, feeling the warmth through my screen and dreaming of my own coming summer juerneys.
Did you grow up in Briatain? I would swear by your accent that you were born aussie. - Well. I'm just a Dane. How would I know the differences 🙂
Looking forward for your next vlog!
Ah - I forgot. The million vieuws are just bacause your vlog are real quality. You do put a lot of work into lovely intros and overlockings from one scene to the next. It is a joy to watch your channel!!!
Thank you so much for those kind words and support. It really encourages me to keep making the videos, as you appreciate they do take a lot of time and I don't monetise. Actually I was born in Australia but my parents migrated to England when I was 2 so I lived there for 30 years...still sound English to Australians. We have got a Raid in 3 weeks and hopefully will get a good turnout. Thanks for watching and stay warm, cheers Paul
Congratulations on a million views! To think I got excited when I hit 100!
Thanks Rob, there is a Lake Mac Raid Dec 9/10 hope to see you there, cheers Paul
Welcome back Paul
Thanks Chris....good to be back, cheers Paul
Beautiful sailing music. Just find someone with a harmonica, tambourine, bongo and a mandolin and you have a band.
Thanks Tony....we'v got the harmonica covered....not sure about the rest, cheers Paul
Great stuff Paul. Cool you can do your own soundtracks now! Not annoying at all.
Ooh Josh you are too kind....get an instrument and we could have a band.( Steve Brown plays the mouth organ, John Blow the guitar), cheers Paul
I have been playing guitar since I was a kid. Sea shanty band?
of course , learn "Leave her Johnny"( my favourite) and the wellerman@@DinghyCruisingKingfisher
birds are quite melodic
Yes they are great . It's a shame I couldn't get any Lyre bird sounds as they are incredible. They mimic other bird calls and one sounds like a machine gun or video game. But they are very shy, so you don't see them very often and they are the size of a chicken. Thanks again for watching, cheers Paul
great topic. great videography and editing. What is there NOT to like?
maybe the concertina??? I'm joking. It's actually fun to learn an instrument and it's my first. Hopefully it will keep my brain active. Thanks for again watching, cheers Paul
Those Sailboats are for differently abled sailors and are a class used in the Paralympics. They are a scaled down 12 metre America's Cup Yacht built to a 2.4 metre rule. Once upon a time there were a couple of rental fleets around Perth and they were a lot of fun for even a novice sailor.
I used to train disabled dailors in my former club in Denmark in 2.4 meter yachts. When not assisting I used to take a ride myself. I use to say the sail like driving bumper cars. They just can cope with anything 🙂
Thanks Paul for the info. They never had them at the sailing club when I was a boy, they do look fast and fun. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
@nesleinf We'd go out with two of us and the second could sit up on the gunnel you could do a good clip. I've been looking for a cheap used one for years.
@@paulaus
I am no longer member of tha club, so it is too late. They had at twin model, where you were sitting i tandem, with all steering and rigging at both seats, so you could assist very hard dissabled in sailing.
But I have long left the club and stopped instructing.
Another great vid, what a nice place to spend the nite. Can you tell me how much that music box cost, I'm thinking about getting one. Thanx.
Hi Phiillip yes the Anglo Concertina is great fun and one day I will master it. I ve never played and instrument before , but I'm enjoying the journey. It's actually a Wren made by Mcneely and Co in Ireland.. Its their beginner model, they sell many all around the world, but I got mine from someone(in NSW) who bought it from Ireland but lost interest. Many youtube videos on Mcneely Concertinas but they hit the sales pretty hard. Thanks for watching and have a great Christmas , cheers Paul
Just discovered your channel, subscribed straight away. What a great cruising area.Loved the concertina and the washing up saving! Ie eating straight from the pan. One question, whats the significance of the R flag? Many thanks.
Thanks John for watching and leaving a comment and subscribing. The group I normally sail with is called Raid Sydney and we have adopted the R flag. It is also the regional flag for Skane in northern Sweden. cheers Paul
whew... had me worried, you were missed...
Hi Captain, yes been in the old country visiting my 92 yr old mum....who is well. I really missed sailing so it was great to get back onto the water. Thanks again for watching, cheers Paul
1,000,000 views.
If that is not DEB I don't know what is.
Congrats. gary in japan
You are quite right Gary , I owe it all to Deb potato....Continental still haven't come to the party though!, cheers Paul
Hope you can sort your outboard! I have been trying to learn concertina for some time - but it instantly results in the Dogs Afloat howling. Quite the deterrent. Knocks one’s confidence 😂
Oh don't give up, it's actually rewarding and I'm not musical at all. Teaching your dogs to do harmonies now that's impressive, cheers Paul
great talent , sounds good, keep it up. btw, wil help me track you down if we are on the water at the same time lol. Frank, PS' that coffee pot looks like what i need, i only have a small Bialetti, what brand is yours ?
Hi Frank thans for those comments and it's just a generic Mocca pot, cheers Paul
I'm looking forward to you entertaining us on a raid Paul. I think your supposed to dance when you play that aren't you? :)
Hi, well public performances are still a way off....it's a confidence thing. But you never know, cheers Paul
I think it's part of getting old Paul, I don't like noisy engines either, they seem to be more irritating now then when I was a young guy.
Yes, are they a passing fad .....who knows time will tell, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Catching up on the videos. Interested in how much space you have in the cabin and can you close it off or do you have to put up the tarp?
Hi there is a neat canvas hatch cover overhead that clips on and also a vertical a veritcal one that also clips on with a built in window with mozzie net. So you can close off the cabin from the weather is necessary but in Australia that can get quite hot in summer. I tend to put the boom tent up as that offers more shade and if raining more space in the cockpit for cooking etc. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
congratulation million view, do you make that boat?
Hi Juan , no I didn't make Kate Louise but you can buy them as kit with the parts already machined and some sections pre-assembled. Derek Ellard at Scruffie marine is the designer and they are about to be made in the states and shipped around the world , if you are interested. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul

Paul, congratulations on a million viewers. But then you pull out the concertina. Do you want to go backwards?
Kidding.
Harsh...very harsh.....I am learning and it's not easy, thanks for watching again, cheers Paul
I know
Just posted a reaction on youre flag in a vid from one year ago :red, yellow crossed.. ahhh not just for a raiding event. ( different meaning then historical flag of south Sweden " the red of Denmark, the yellow cross of Sweden) 😊
Yes the Skone area of Sweden,. Have a great white Christmas, cheers Paul
Concertina is fine! And it suits the peaceful nautical surroundings. I have an antique banjo-mandolin that can do permanent eardrum damage with prolonged exposure. It's only useful for clearing out party guests at the end of the night.
I'll remember that for when it gets too crowded, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Well done with the Concertina. I've played Melodeon since the early 1970's so I share your pain. It just takes time, lots of time and practice every day. Especially when you are beginning. I used to reckon it takes 2 days to loose what you learned today if you don't practice it the following day. Keep the bellows as closed as you can. If you extend the bellows too far you loose the accuracy when you change bellows direction. The air button is your friend. You can prove this to yourself. Try playing a scale fairly quickly with the bellows as closed as you can, and then try it with the bellows extended more than half way out. All that bellows waggling around reduces your control. Good luck with it - check out czcams.com/video/XHLugD5CiHY/video.html.
Best wishes ..Dave
Thanks Dave for that great advice, I like it I won't give up but I should practice more, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
You (and I) allways forget something, didn't we talk about checklists?
We did but I forgot the checklist...
HaHA!😀😅@@SailingKateLouise
Jet skis are a pain in the #¥¥.
Yep
are you allowed to borrow a mooring overnight like that? what is the right etiquette?
There are pink public moorings right up and down the coast and you are allowed to stay on them for up to 24 hours, no charge and no booking ahead
thankyou, I didnt know that, I am new to this, I have bought myself a Jarcat5
and have not taken it out yet, my brother has though@@stevep5819
Hi yes, yellow ones are free. Other colours are owned by clubs and the etiquette allows you to use them as well, unless asked to move. Cheers Paul
When the girls get tired of being cold and having to squat in the poison ivy, the jet skis will settle down. I never liked them as they make it so hard to bring coolers or lawn chairs.👧😧
That's right....but nothing beats being powered by nature, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
