Izzy wasn't slow or flat footed. Sean just had a fantastic performance and his defensive capabilities whilst still having walk down pressure is something Izzy has never seen before. Dana White never ceases to amaze people with how he flip flops on subjects. It's disgusting how many people are refusing to give Sean his props but are willing to pull excuses out of their ass for Izzy.

Everyone saying that Izzy looked off. Of course, Strickland did that to him. As soon as he dropped him, adesanya knew he was in trouble. Strickland did as he was supposed to. He applied pressure and adesanya never got the opportunity to fully recover.
Izzy didn't suddenly become overrated
Izzy looked frustrated before he was knocked down in round 1.
Kicks caught, hands grabbed, hands fought, kicks checked, almost everything else parried, dodged or blocked.
It was nuts
Maybe sean made Izzy look off cause he was the better fighter that night
Its a mental warfare too, he was byllying him for a long time, he was like a devil in his shoulder

I think Pereira and Strickland both revealed a major weakness in Adesanya. As a counter striker he struggles a LOT against fighters who don't telegraph their moves.
And fighters that know how to close the distance and constantly keep moving forward.

Plus Izzy is a "keep my distance" fighter and Strickland is a "I'm coming for you" fighter.
That's the only thing that has gotten Izzy this far.. he pops in, bap bap, backs out.
And that's fine. That's his style... but if you smother him, or if you CAN smother him (it'd require taking hits and lots of stamina), he's going to be out of his comfort zone.
Yeah, this definitely could be the ending of that era, same thing happened to Ronda Rousey. If they dont have tactics then you become very predictable. Dont get me wrong they can win easly but they have the same fighting scheme.

Strickland is a fighter. He loves to brawl he’s not scared and he will say yes to anybody and honestly I think israel completely underestimated sean.
I think he thought he would catch him with some tricky stuff. The straight up style doesn't leave room for long range attacks to really work. That defense was on point. Good match. Happy for him.

Just like with Tyson, Adesanya’s most powerful weapon was opponents fear of him. Just like Buster Douglas did Tyson, Strickland came in fearless and beat Adesanya’s ass.

I tell you what izzy is normally precise and smooth asf but man oh man… sean did not give him any opportunity to get his kicks on at ALL. Sean pressuring izzy to the point that he couldn’t execute his surgical precision kicks are just pure masterpiece. Sean did not give izzy any opportunity and he kept his pressure on him till the last minute. He deserves that belt
Sean's defense blew my mind. But he had to have SOLID defense or Izzy's feet WOULD drop him. I like Izzy's style, but Sean hard-countered. Gg

@@nickvandermey6065 knowing his life was such a fucking nightmare(Joe Rogan did a podcast with him and he recalled his childhood) its no wonder he wants to look tough on the outside, but from what i have read a lot of ppl say Sean is very kind to his close people, which fits perfectly for a character like him as he needs to protect himself and his family from threats but treats his own the best.
I think Izzy lost a lot of confidence but also relies too heavily on long range, drawn out fighting. He doesn't seem to be adapting. Hat's off to Strickland here- great performance. I love to see an upset stir things up.

Strickland is a prime example of a boxer getting into mma
No, James Toney is a prime example of a boxer getting into MMA. Sean can actually check a leg kick and stop a takedown.
Not sure what the hell you are talking about. Strickland specifically trains MMA since the age of 14 and afaik never even dabbled into boxing. Not sure how that is supposed to make him anything but a MMA fighter just because he focuses on striking and clinching.
@@svdcleveland Strickland didn’t learn leg checks till now. Also Strickland didn’t telegraph his punches a lot which boxers are the best at. Strickland was also using the philly shell like Floyd mayweather does (defensive hand positioning). In fact Strickland said he’s the best boxer in mma. So yeah he is a boxer learning mma. James tony was a over weight exhibition fighter that been retired before he got in the MMA ring for fun.

His stand striking wouldn’t be as good as it was if he didn’t focus on his boxing techniques. Most mma fighters don’t do boxing. As a boxer myself i can see the difference in how Strickland truly put boxing fundamentals in his game for mma.
