This channel gotta be the best ski channel ive ever seen. I love the fact that Deb is teaching and recording, that way i can see how different people adapt to what Deb is trying to teach. You dont just have an expert skier demonstrating techniques, great job!
hogan is progressing fast, being able to ski on one ski so well, its definitely a fundamental balance drill. i did that drill years ago, and it always helped to find the best balance over the ski. i`ll try it again soon. these modern skis with rocker allow skiers to be off balance
Yes, Hogan is progressing in a wonderful way!!!! And Steve, I saw you ordered a shirt. Thank you for supporting the channel. Appreciate it. Enjoy the shirt and have a fab season!
Had to learn to do it once years ago when i got hurt in a fall. Eventually started doing it very often and learned to hook my boot behind my "skied" boot. Just switch legs when you get tired. The outside turn is the hardest but comes quick once practiced. Anybody who can vedeln can do this--they just don't know it.
This is real skier. I am interested to know how many hours of training / instruction the boy able to use one leg for skiing on a gentle slope like above video. One thing I know when a skier able to ski with one leg thoroughly, he is already a very competent skier! (i.e. able to control inside and outside edge for both legs and weight transfer at anytime, normal person only focus on A. outside edge for downhill ski B. inside edge for uphill ski only. Courage and admired video 👍👍👍
I can't even begin to get on that little toe edge with one ski on the snow. It just feels wrong to me - my self preservation (at 68 years old) is just too ingrained. Maybe I'll have to devote a whole day of trying to get anywhere with it.
keep both skis on and do thumper turns. lifting the outside ski and placing it on the snow, thumping the snow, tapping the snow, many times through the turn. that will be like training wheels. good luck!!!!!
@@peterthoma3730 I love the one ways!!! They are an awesome pole. Not being commercial, I just like them. However I put a lot of time, effort and $$ into my channel. Being commercial sometimes does help to making this channel viable😉😘
@@DebArmstrongSkiStrong it is your channel you can label it however you want. The reason I picked those two titles was CZcams search algorithm. I am a low vision skier. I have friends that are low vision and have mobility issues that ski on one ski. A year ago my guide was a gentleman that skied in a sit ski.
Our coach would make us remove one ski at the top of the lift so We couldn’t cheat. Real leg burner. So effective in skill training and strength at the same time. Not recommended for beginners of course just good parallel skiers
"Don't show off, just do a good job" is something I need someone to repeat to me like 10 times a day
Ha!!!!! Love it

Love Hogan's answers!
His understanding edging in his own words.

One-ski skiing made me realize that I was too far back. Thank you, Deb!

Agree with Steve, I did years ago; old ‘60s race coach did. And now really sets my balance right. I do first up starting the day
What’s a wonderful master and student)

YEWW It would be awesome to see you teach at loveland! Great video, as always.

Deb where are you located now?
Steamboat Springs and also Taos New Mexico
She didn't say you can't use your poles. The ski team person was using theirs.

Ha! Using the one ways now😉

Perhaps you can rename this video for adaptive skiing.
What do you suggest?
Adaptive skiing edging interning skills. Mono skiing edging in Turning. I think you do a very good job of auto describing during your lessons.
@@richardsobetski8879 pardon my ignorance. Please I form me, I am not clear as to what is wrong in saying "one ski skiing"?
