I just attended India's most extreme festival and I've never seen anything like it before in my life - even after visiting every country in the world! It's a 10-day festival called Dussera, and even though it's celebrated around India - no region is more intense than Tamil Nadu.
It's hard to comprehend what I just experienced - people having exorcisms and going into an unconscious state of trance. And the craziest part? I was the ONLY non-Indian at this festival of 100,000 + people, and this event has hardly been documented - by anyone! Also I appreciated that everyone at this festival was sober - that's how spiritual it was.
What do you think about Dussera? Would you ever attend it? Let me know in the comments down below!

I got sick for 3 weeks after shooting this video - fever, headache and a lingering cough. I couldn't handle the flames and breathing in the fire, among all of the other chaos that you saw. But to be honest, it was absolutely worth it to experience a festival like this, and I enjoyed being the only foreigner to ever document it!! Thank you, as always, for watching - and stay tuned for next week when I'll take you to Bikaner (Rajasthan) for the final video in my India series!
Different world, wow. Insane to see
Those are Spirits. You invited them in.
Another awesome video dude. U think you got sick from the fires at the festival, or mix of that and the food?
or maybe a spirit has come into you 😜and made you sick, scary scary scary 🫣😶🌫️😱
It’s relevant mentioning that the more crazier Dasara festival called Davaragattu Banni festival organized every year in Southern India’s Andhra Pradesh state. Google it. You will be shocked. Get well soon.

Really, this is probably one of the most intense videos I watched in your channel. The sheer intensity of the subject kind of reminded me of an underrated Indian TV series of 2000s, named Mano, Ya Na Mano ("Believe, Or Don't Believe" in English), which showed the events which dealt with supernatural phenomenon.
My, your content is getting better and better by everyday! Keep up the good work.

Whoever is reading this, I wanted to say I hope you have a great day and that God loves you so much that He sent His son, Jesus, to die on a cross for your sins and He rose again from the dead three days later. God Bless!
And also, He doesn't want you to go to Hell, but He wants you to go to Heaven with Him but you have to be Saved. How do I get Saved you might ask? Here are the steps below on how to get Saved!

The way you have covered this festival was so nice. You are literally the first foreigner to cover the festival in this part of India and maybe the first foreigner to step foot in these places. These places are often overlooked. Been there a few times but the way you covered this festival is nice. Felt like I am seeing this in person.
India is socially, racially, linguistically, ethnically, religiously, culturally very diverse, sometimes we Indians are unable to comprehend, that is the richness of India respecting and celebrating our differences
Hey Drew since you are a jew you should visit the jews in India, the judaism came to Indian subcontinent way back than Christianity and Islam did, you can get to know a different version of judaism which is accustomed to the Indian subcontinent.
well I mean it is the most populous nation on Earth, with the 2nd (China) being a literal ethnostate, 94% Han. Of course they'd be the most diverse. That's just common sense tbh, sorry if I sound like a mean-spirited bitch, just calls it how I sees it, truly, no ill-will or bad-faith intended, peace from Australia.
@@alyssarichardson2544 well my dear china being one party communist state is imposing homogeneity, rather than celebrating their diverse culture and nature whereas in India that's not the case , being a imperfect but functioning democracy there's no room for domination of one culture or language over an another, and just because population is more doesn't mean that the culture should be more the point is cohesiveness in a diverse society and having an acceptance attitude , In India the dominant hindu religion is polytheistic in nature this religion has more than 330 million Gods, goddess and deities so it is not hard for us to accept an another allah or jesus, there is lot to tell but I will end up at this note come to India and feel for yourself.
@@soloist7880 honestly what you're saying fascinates me, I was just trying to say "yeah no shit of course the non-ethnostate country with 1.4 billion people (more than the entirety of Africa) is the most diverse on Earth.
It wasn't a shot at any of the cultures or ethnicities, Africa with it's 1.2 billion people with thousands of ethnic-groups with different cultures."The Indian-Subcontinent" is known that way for a reason, I'd imagine. Nearly 2 billion people, that's incomprehensible levels of multiculturalism and I admire you for it.
I'd also imagine there are a LOT of differing, interesting stories coming out of such a historically-rich place. I'd love to visit there some day. My cousins are both half Sri Lankan, part of said sub-continent, and I'd love to visit some day if I can afford it.
Honestly I wish you nothing but love and prosperity, peace from Australia ❤

I find it interesting how many cultures throughout the world uses fasting to be closer to their deity. The abrahamic religions all have fasting and so does Buddhism
Islam has the answer. We believe prophets were sent with the same message to all peoples. But later generations deviated from the Prophet’s path and would innovate new practices and beliefs beyond recognition of the original message. All prophets were prescribed with only worshipping the 1 Tru God, prayer, fasting, pilgrimages, giving to charity etc. Islam is the final reminder of the original message and the final book Qur’an is the only scripture which has been preserved since no Prophet will come again. God knows best.
THAT was incredible. Of COURSE I SUBBED!

See I understand where u are coming from. Even I would be scared to go to a place where the aura is very powerful now u may not understand weather the aura is nice or bad because u don’t know anything about our Indian mythology which is fine according to me. In today’s time I like watching things about the burjo festival in Mexico and I too don’t understand and honestly I too would get scared going there. No offence to anyone. People are usually scared of something they don’t know or anything which is unknown/uncharted. Honestly I too didn’t know about this festival in india. Our beautiful country is too diverse, as if there is the whole world within. Now I don’t mean to say that u should visit there where drew has gone too but I can only suggest u only if u want to to start reading about our Hindu scriptures, all I can say is get ready to get ur mind blown reading it and understanding it.
ill explain it more lightly than babathudi basically this is exactly like the 'holy spirit' and just like in christianity (pentecost) the people who reveive the the spirit of god enters the people who dress like those "gods and godesses' making them go trance and all crazy just like protestant christianity and all of them look scary because most of the gods they represent are their ancestors. unlike mainstream hinduism like in north india tamils and south indians worship their ancestors as gods and in this video those gods are warriors and kings hence why they are represented as scary
@@joshuajohn74nah Christianity and Hindu are nothing alike
Pentecostals are not Christians, their beliefs and practices are heretic and condemned. The only true Church is the Orthodox Church
