its very weird how fascinated cats are with these plants! My old roommates cat would eat almost like 1/3 of the leaves when my was first in the house... He would get very hyper after too. It was almost like catnip to him hmmm. Glad thats not an issue anymore and I hope to take cuttings soon.

Thanks for the video - I have a braided 2.5 feet with strong braids. the canopy is stretching way up and away. I feel like cutting or pruning it down towards the braids. Would that probably be OK ?

I lived this video. Do the plants come with a steal wire holding it to it's pot? Mine came with a wire. I wanted to repot because a blind man could see it had no room to grow. I cut a few stems just like you did . Stripped the wire away and gave it a new larger pot damn this is tuff. Congrats on your nuptials. Busy life. I'll enjoy what you put out

I have a quick question to ask when you have a leaf with a stem do you keep the stem in same water Or do you change it out every 3 days or 2

I put my branches in water two weeks ago and nothing is happening. Did you do some preparation before you put the branches into water?
During my attempt to braid the green stem on my money tree, one limb broke off. I decided to cut the remainder off and put all 4 limbs in water to propogate. Now i have the tree trunks bare, hoping for regrowth for both the trunks and the cut off limbs.

I don’t think you need to wait for it to dry before putting it in water. Just make sure the water is clean to avoid any infection. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!

Do you use a grow light for the money tree? I have mine next to the window so it can get sun but he seems a little slow at growing.
I have my main Money Tree near a east facing window, where it gets bright indirect light. However, I keep the propagations under a grow light.
Do you need to change the water every week?
My tree doesn’t produce at the trunk? Is that normal? Its a single stem of a braided tree that survived.
Where you leave the cutting while it is growing the roots in water - better in a sunny windowsill? or further away so it receives indirect light? Thank you!
I place the propagations under a grow light while they grow roots in water. Indirect, bright light is always best for them. Hope this helps!
Love your videos! I was 2 weeks into propagating my money tree in soil but after watching your video, I put them in water. Fingers crossed. Please make a video showing the process/progress of braiding yours. Oh I almost forgot my question: I took a money tree cutting and the only leaf on it fell off. Will it still grow roots do you think?

As for the cutting, if the only leaf on it fell off then it will have no way of producing energy for new growth as in new roots. I’d suggest taking a cutting with at least one full leaf and put it in water for a few weeks. Hope that helps!

Glad you found the video helpful! To keep the vines from getting trapped, I gently move them aside before opening the fridge door. It's a bit of a dance, but it works! 😂
Any one know what the white bumps are? I've seen them on other plants when I propagate from cuttings 8n water.
Those are calluses. They protect the wound from infection.

hi, one of my money tree branch broke and i just stick the whole branch in water. Is that how to propagate it since it broke? I see some white thingy growing is that normal?
Absolutely! You're on the right track. Planting the broken branch in water is a common method for propagating Money Trees. Those white things you see are most likely the beginnings of roots, which is a great sign that your propagation is progressing well. My pachira tree has alot of small new leaves that don’t grow big, like super multiplied on one stem how do i prone to have strong leaves growing
If you’re looking for big leaves, you’ll need the right amount of light, air circulation, and feed. This time of year is when Money Trees grow, so that’s probably why you’re getting those new leaves. Pruning them off might not be the best thing for big leaves. Make sure you’re feeding it enough during it’s growing season, gets enough bright, indirect light (east-facing window are best), and running a fan in the room for some air circulation might help. How long do you keep the propagated plant in the smaller pot? Until root bound? Also how many inches is that pot it looks smaller than the 4inch standard nursery pot pot
You can keep it in the smaller pot until it outgrows the space or becomes root-bound. The pot might look smaller due to camera angles or the potting mix settling, but it's still suitable for propagation.
think I’m experiencing root rot. The leaves were pale green and some fell off. I inspected the bottom stems and they were wet and a light brownish color. The roots looked brown I trimmed them back and repotted in new soil. Should I water right away or let it dry out first? Any suggestions??

My cuttings took a long time to throw roots, mind you, I live in the N.E. Of Scotland UK

I have been trying to propagate my money tree. One in soil. Two in two different glasses of water. They are smell stems with yellow leaves. There is a light clear type root I think in the water ones? No dots on stems. I'm close to just propagating my entire original plant. It's showing a lot of new growth but small and has dying leaves now and then. Any advice?

I keep mine under a grow light, but it’s not required. You can place it on a east facing window where it gets bright, indirect light.

I haven’t braided propagations together successfully before or grown them from seed. Something I might look into and make a video about. Stay tuned!

No need to feed them during propagation. Just focus on keeping the soil moist and providing indirect sunlight.

Hello! I've had my money tree in a glass of water for a few months now. Only seeing a small root starting. Is there anything you would recommend. Is it better if it's a smaller branch to propagate?

How far back can you cut the stem of the individual trees? Does each stem need at least 1 leaf from the soil?
As a general rule of thumb using either a Y or V shape cutting, would give you the best chance. Cut where the nodes meet the trunk. You will need at least a couple leafs on the cutting for it to propagate successfully. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

I’m trying this and I actually have my leaves in water now for a good week and they’re getting brown spots on the leaves like they normally do when overwatered. Should I care?
If you're seeing brown spots on the leaves of your money tree cuttings after a week in water, it could be a sign of overwatering. Make sure the water level is appropriate and the leaves are not submerged. Also, check the water quality, provide proper lighting, and monitor temperature and humidity. If the problem persists, you may need to adjust your propagation method or consider planting the cuttings in soil instead.

If you're using a grow light, keep them at least 12" away from the light, preferably indirect bright light for at least 8 hours each day.

Change the water every couple weeks, depending on how dirty it is. Or if you notice any green algae growing, change out the water. Hope this helps!

After the cuttings have grown roots longer than 4” in water, then it’s a good time to transfer them to soil.
Do we cut the branch for propagation with scissors or hands?
For better results use clean scissors to cut.

What kind of fertilizer puting in your money tree
For your money tree, you can use a balanced water-soluble fertilizer with an NPK ratio of 10-10-10 or 20-20-20. I have a huge money tree and all of a sudden I have all these tiny pla.t flies or gnats.....no matter what I do I can get rid of them and they are out of control. What am I doing wrong?
