Jim, your collection of videos from the Los Angeles area are nothing short of spectacular. I personally hated LA when I was there, but I spent most of my time in OC (Both LA and OC were just nasty) but your videos have given me a temptation to go back and try it again. I absolutely love your soundtracks in the LA videos as well. Terrific work!

Thank you for the kind comment, glad you enjoy the videos. LA is just. a wonderful place to drive when traffic cooperates, I wish I could go back more often.

Funny thing about the music selection is that our family trips had oldies like these playing for the drive. Oldies, particularly from the 60s, always make me nostalgic for the family trips in the 80s and 90s. This music just resonates with California's concrete ribbons for me. It was always Disneyland, Knotts, Universal, and Sea World. I'm also reminded of our trips to Laughlin and Vegas with this music.

      @FrankG5874 Před 5 lety

Listening to K-EARTH 101 when it played oldies, and not music from the 80s and 90s as it is now.

The Arroyo Seco has some of the shortest off ramps and on ramps in all of so. cal. from 55 mph to stop in as little as 50 feet, and just the opposite getting on. zero to 55 in 50 feet lol. this is the freeway I learned to driveon in back in the early 70's Great video Jim.

I've been reminding myself to go into the wayback machine and re-watch this one again. Glad I did, too. I'm feelin' groovy! There's an old "Archies" tune that I could have sworn was part of this video, but nope... I must be thinking of a different video... OR, I'm having flashbacks, or something. 😅

I must have watched the episode of the (Flinstones) a lot of times, and I love the synthetic vinyl sounds between each song, now a days all music is digital. That was a Classy, Classic, cruise down memory lane!!!! ;-)

I think AM 60's pop is the greatest driving music. Love the crackling sounds. Brings back memories of the vinyl record days. Unlike then the crackling in your video was only at the end of the song.

    Scratches means vinyl !!!
Kiddies that is how we old timers played music before cds.
Vinyl and cds sound even better on a vacuum tube stereo console.
All that was missing was the M and P's "California Dreaming", the ultimate California song imo.
Your gear should have been a 65 Mustang, a Kodak Super 8 camera and a reel to reel tape deck.
    Another great video.

Really enjoy your videos. NIce to get a perspective on American Freeways, and love how you match the video with the sound of the music, and the facts on the freeways.
You should come to Australia and do some driving on our freeways (we call them motorways btw). I'm in Brisbane, we've built a lot of tunnels to join all our motorways, very nice to drive in. Sometimes watching your videos, the similarities with Australian and American freeways is quite evident. You would love Melbourne, they've invested a lot into create visual interest with their motorways with murals on the sound barriers and pillars of interchanges and even art works alongside the motorway.

Just goes to show, Cali people are impatient people.

+beepbeepme50 I never got to Louisville, I had dinner with a friend in STL and left town around 8:30 or so and just drove straight through to ATL (got home at 6:45 AM)...started the day in West Kansas (Goodland) Not bad eh? :)

Do you think you will get to Louisville anytime soon?

+beepbeepme50 I've been to and filmed Louisville...really no sense in going until the construction on the I-65 Bridge is done but I have no immediate plans to go there.
