    Takes someone that has gone through the process to truly appreciate the Master performing his art !!! Lots of those small motors lying around sheds in North America so your teachings are most useful. Stay safe, be merry and please give us an update on Cpt Mark !

    I love great weather like you have. Its better for the soul. I was going to start on my little 14' jon boat and get it ready for spring up here in s/w Va.- n/e Tenn. but then the tempreture dropped to the teens and the power went off and I had to buy a generator to keep warm and----sorry, rambling. I hate cold weather,lol Be cool!

    I love it when parts actually disassemble that easily... Usually you're praying that you don't sheer off a screw or bolt because of all the corrosion.

    You probably already know all this, but in case you don't:
    If you decide to pull the gear case.......... don't forget there is a cross pin in the top of the drive shaft. You will need to line up the cross pin with a corresponding slot in the lower seal spring retaining washer. Otherwise, the gear case will be difficult to pull down and you will wreck the retaining washer when you snatch it off. One good thing: You don't have to pull the powerhead on a 6hp to drop the gear case, like has to be done on a 5.5hp or 7.5hp. Thanks for a great video.

      @@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 Glad to help. You can drop the gear case down just a little and disconnect the shift linkage. But, you still have to line up the cross pin through the top of the drive shaft with the slot in the seal spring retaining washer. Turn the prop with it in gear to line up the pin with the slot. Pull the spark plugs to make it easier........

    In my opinion minor grooves in the needle point are not critical its a air bleed valve not a liquid seal valve. If it were a liquid valve then replacing would be in order. Should work just fine but what do I know,HA!No 25 HP knobs in your stockpile same part number as the 6HP LOLLL????Nice little kicker!

    you can get those little ignition modules off amazon or ebay. you'd need 2 one for each cylinder for about $35 total. then you can ditch the points and resistor setup and just screw in your new electronic setup. ive done this to a few oldies around the shop and they run so much smoother! plus no adjustments. ever.

    • @THISOLDOUTBOARD1
      @THISOLDOUTBOARD1  Před 2 lety

      @@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 yes you actually can and the best part is they are about $35 all in. i just tried nova 2 chips, and some weird off-brand ones on amazon for $8.99 ea. both still going strong!

    I guess that throttle linkage doesn't have a return spring? You could use fine steel wool on that needle valve. What's up with the mattress? The police were there taking dna samples.😀 You might wanna take Pepto for that gas.

    I read one of the comments the reason you spend so much time fixing a motor that isn't worth much. It's pretty simple it all depends who s it is. If it is mine it's worth the world if it's yours who gives a crap. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Money is better In my pocket then money in yours

      Well, that's the whole idea behind fixing them. They provide very dependable and affordable access to fishing or plain waterway cruising. As they are not made anymore, they are an endangered species and thus are precious. Long live those icons of americana ! LOL.
