My second outboard I owned was a 1958 evinrude 5 1/2 we picked it up for 150 bucks , it was pretty clean 👌, ran great replaced a few things , a beauty.
Hey. Thanks for watching and commenting! Stay tuned !
Takes someone that has gone through the process to truly appreciate the Master performing his art !!! Lots of those small motors lying around sheds in North America so your teachings are most useful. Stay safe, be merry and please give us an update on Cpt Mark !
Hey. Thanks! He's pulling through! They want to move him to a rehab type place which is a good thing. Thanks again !
I love great weather like you have. Its better for the soul. I was going to start on my little 14' jon boat and get it ready for spring up here in s/w Va.- n/e Tenn. but then the tempreture dropped to the teens and the power went off and I had to buy a generator to keep warm and----sorry, rambling. I hate cold weather, lol Be cool!
Me too! Thanks for tuning in!
I love it when parts actually disassemble that easily... Usually you're praying that you don't sheer off a screw or bolt because of all the corrosion.
Hahaha Yeah I popped one off today. Grrrrrrrrrr! Thanks again !
Neat trick with the baking soda. She’s really starting to look pretty! Catch you in the next one.
Hey. Thanks !
55 degrees at your place, an 10 here. I will take the 55! Lol. Keep up the great work!
Hey. Yeah we're killing it down here with the great weather! Thanks again !
Jedi master of outboards. Thanks for content
Hey. Thanks for tuning in!
Nice job on this Evinrude!
Hey. Thanks for tuning in!
A real professional, those shorts and shoes are still white!!👍
Hahaha, Not for long!
Bon Ami or lapping compound…great video!
Hey. Thanks again !
You probably already know all this, but in case you don't:
If you decide to pull the gear case.......... don't forget there is a cross pin in the top of the drive shaft. You will need to line up the cross pin with a corresponding slot in the lower seal spring retaining washer. Otherwise, the gear case will be difficult to pull down and you will wreck the retaining washer when you snatch it off. One good thing: You don't have to pull the powerhead on a 6hp to drop the gear case, like has to be done on a 5.5hp or 7.5hp. Thanks for a great video.
Hey. Thanks! No I didn't know that and I'm just about ready to drop it. Thanks again & Stay tuned !
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 Glad to help. You can drop the gear case down just a little and disconnect the shift linkage. But, you still have to line up the cross pin through the top of the drive shaft with the slot in the seal spring retaining washer. Turn the prop with it in gear to line up the pin with the slot. Pull the spark plugs to make it easier........
@@mikedurhan9941 Hey yeah I'm looking at the schematic right now. Glad you told me or I would have beat the hell out of it! Hahaha
Well taken care of ol' outboard-gotta love it.
Thanks for tuning in!
I take 1000 grit sandpaper with the drill thing and sand it back down to a nice sharp point when I get a dull or messed up point great videos 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hey. Good idea! Thanks again !
In my opinion minor grooves in the needle point are not critical its a air bleed valve not a liquid seal valve. If it were a liquid valve then replacing would be in order. Should work just fine but what do I know,HA!No 25 HP knobs in your stockpile same part number as the 6HP LOLLL????Nice little kicker!
Hey. Thanks again & Stay tuned !
Hey starting to look better got all that old grease and oil build up off it how's Capt Mark doing you haven't said nothing since the last post hope he's doing better with the Covid catch you next time 👍
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. He's actually pulling through. They're going to move him to a rehab type place which is a good thing! Thanks again !
you can get those little ignition modules off amazon or ebay. you'd need 2 one for each cylinder for about $35 total. then you can ditch the points and resistor setup and just screw in your new electronic setup. ive done this to a few oldies around the shop and they run so much smoother! plus no adjustments. ever.
Hey. I thought you couldn't get those anymore. Any If I were keeping it that might be an idea but it's a flip. Thanks again !
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 yes you actually can and the best part is they are about $35 all in. i just tried nova 2 chips, and some weird off-brand ones on amazon for $8.99 ea. both still going strong!
I guess that throttle linkage doesn't have a return spring? You could use fine steel wool on that needle valve. What's up with the mattress? The police were there taking dna samples.😀 You might wanna take Pepto for that gas.
Hahaha. Thanks for tuning in!
Well, howdy old timer like me. ha-ha good video on cleaning up a mess to make it functional again. Yippie, the snow is gone and ready to get some outside videos going again hopefully. CZcams is paying me my 2 cents a month now so can afford a couple of orings. hahaha
Hahaha. I know the feeling! Thanks again !
😅 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks again !
Looks a little rain🚣♀️
Thanks for tuning in!
I read one of the comments the reason you spend so much time fixing a motor that isn't worth much. It's pretty simple it all depends who s it is. If it is mine it's worth the world if it's yours who gives a crap. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Money is better In my pocket then money in yours
Beauty is in the eyes of the Beer Holder! Hahaha! Thanks again !
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 lmao😂

Why do you spend so much time and effort on an engine thats worth almost nothing?
Well, that's the whole idea behind fixing them. They provide very dependable and affordable access to fishing or plain waterway cruising. As they are not made anymore, they are an endangered species and thus are precious. Long live those icons of americana ! LOL.
I salute! Thanks again !
Is a Picasso really worth anything? Not to me. But at 90 psi x 2 and parts are available, It's an easy $350-$400 around here! This old outboard will make some kid very happy and his father won't have to spend $1500 + for a new one! And it's fun! Hahaha Thanks again !
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 well prices for engines like that where i live in europe... are 50 bucks so i didnt know that
