I was trying to figure out why Diane showed her six of roughly the same ball gowns. SMH. There are hundreds of other styles and fabrics, but she chose some of the most unflattering dresses in satin-type fabrics (also can be unflattering) that I was stunned.

that drove me nuts, i KNOW kleinfeld's has a picture-perfect cinderella ballgown, with the bodice that comes down to a v in front just like all the disney princess gowns, and all the crown-styled bling and everything. maybe they're over $5k? but i really doubt it. the fact that the bride wasn't vibing with any of the dropped waist gowns should have been diane's hint to at least try a natural waist.

Okay, maybe things have changed, but I am a seamstress and pattern drafter who comes from a long line of professional seamstresses (mother, grandmother, great aunts, great grandmother were all seamstresses who sewed many wedding dresses!). A ball gown does NOT have a dropped waist! The waist line is at the natural waist line. The skirt flares out from the fitted bodice, and typically has layers upon layers of tulle to give it body. These styles are more fit and flare than ball gowns.

For my own wedding back in the 80's, I wore an Eve of Milady design and I didn't want to take it off! I felt so beautiful and the day was so special for us. Agreed.
I have seen brides on this show coming in saying 'ballgown,', but then finding that shape is unflattering on them. The skilled consultants recognize what these brides want is big, poofy, show-stopping, and sparkly (esp. this bride who specified she likes the sparkles). Those skilled consultants then switch to a big, poofy , show-stopping, sparkly a-line and suddenly the bride is happy because she is getting the look that she wants in a shape that works for her.
Diane is hearing 'ballgown' without really listening to what this bride is really asking for. I think too Diane is hearing 'cha-ching' without really caring what the bride is really looking for. I hope this bride finds/found a new consultant and also her perfect dress.

So for Randy to throw shade on the consultant and actually publicly accuse her on camera of wanting to profit off the bride really shocked me. Randy was being peevish and nasty. He must have been having a really bad day because this is the first time I have ever heard him say such a nasty thing about a co-worker. Had you known all the facts you would have known she was only doing what her bride asked for. I’m really disappointed in you, Randy. You owe that consultant a public apology.

Totally disagree. Of course the consultant wants her commission but it is absiolutely right to help a bride economize

@Ambrrrjames Wait. All I see on these comments here is "it is the bride's day, and it is her decision what she wears." So now the consultant is supposed to go against what the bride said she wanted? I don't understand.
I have no dog in this fight. I think that sometimes the brides could get help changing their vision if it will ultimately be what they will like best. Including changing their minds about having 2 dresses.
But the drumbeat of "the consultant is just to do what the bride wants" is so strong here that I am really confused as to what everyone's dogma is. It seems to change all the time depending on the circumstances even though everyone seems so sure that it is a rule that is not to be broken.

Absolutely correct. Randy was totally a jerk with Dianne. The bride wanted and had the budget for two dresses and Randy didn’t even help her finding another style of ballroom dress. Dianne was completely overwhelmed with the entourage and with his comments it made the appointment worst.
