Of course - I also played Shinobi (with my friends) on the original arcade machine in the 80s - great game music and beautiful memories. Brilliant remix! :)
I'm assuming you're asking what my method was for this arrangement? This is only my second game remix I've done but I started the same way pretty much with both. First I decide what style the remix will be - meaning if I want to do it chiptune style using kind of 8 bit sounding instruments or do I want to change the genre of the piece altogether. For this one I wanted it to be a little slower and kind of 'fatter' sounding drum-wise. Then I listen to the original track and transcribe each part, one at a time. I may change the instrumentation a bit before I'm happy with the way each part sounds. Then I go back and listen for areas that I maybe want to add something new, new bass part, new counter-melody etc. Lastly is the form of the song, which I've been basing mostly on the original song but in some cases I'll add something, or even remove something depending on what I feel. Any other questions, please feel free to comment again. Thanks again for listening!
Nathan ThreeLeaf Ok i now get it. That's always interesting for me to know how remixes are made. If you're interested i may have the original .mid files of shinobi.

moonove I appreciate the offer, but I do enjoy the process and challenge of transcribing by ear.
May I use your version of this theme for my new Retro intro?
Sure thing :)
