10 Days Bikepacking In Tuscany - Along Eurovelo 5 Italy
Vložit
- čas přidán 8. 01. 2022
- This is the full movie documenting my experience cycling through Tuscany in September 2021. Over 10 days I made my way from Marina di Massa all the way down to my end destination Rome. Sometimes following the Eurovelo 7, sometimes making up my own way to be able to stop and explore places like Pisa, Florence and Siena.

My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed your documentary and can't thank you enough for sharing your adventures with us. We never realized that southern Italy was so beautiful beyond the vineyards of Tuscany and that there are so many towns that are equally as interesting. You have opened up a whole new world for us. By giving us the history of wherever you travelled, we have learned so much and it's awesome to be learning and experiencing what you are experiencing. Thank you again for being our tour guide and we hope to one day follow in your steps! Keep up the good work Mike!
Hi Mikael, how nice to see you and your long journey toward Rome again! We hope to be able to meet again, and on this occasion we wish you our best wishes for this 2022, healthy and full of pleasant new bike trips.

Brings back memories when I lived in Italy, and you have done an excellent video here. Bravo Mike. 👍 It is helpful how you describe prices of what you purchase it will help others to know what to expect.
Glad you enjoyed the video! And thanks for the feedback.
Nice video and great that you took time to do this. I did in October 2022 same roads countervice.
I did’t had pation to videos as i did Giro d’Italia in 23 days / total 3700 Km… I did mostly Wild camping. Great coutry
Hi Mike! I live in Lucca and I really can say that you are a great cyclist😃! Congrats for your trip😉
Hi, Mike! I found you via Duzer's Sweden trip. I really enjoy your vlogs and will watch more. The Tuscany one is so well photographed and I enjoy your commentary. I have been to Tuscany before and this brings back many memories. I look forward to viewing many more of your vlogs! I live in Iowa. Ryan will have to get you over here for RAGBRAI 2024. All the best to you! 😊
Thank you for your kind words. RAGBRAI would be fun to do, but it might be a bit to hot for me coming from Scandinavia. I'm not really used to cycling in those temperatures. But we'll have to wait and see. Welcome to the channel!
Hej Mike, Hope you are all well. This full length feature film is keeping me entertained on my long night shifts at work.
I turned 50 this week, but everybody in my house has Covid (except me) so will be celebrating later in the year. Can't wait to watch your next adventures. Much Love Ed
Great documentation Mike. In only 2 months I'm going to do Euro velo 5 from La Spezia to Orvieto. Looking so much forward.
1:04:59 "one of the best roads I have been bike touring on in my whole life" Ok, now i am really intrigued:). Actually, I am for sure going to be in that area but going south to north so I have been following your trip with some interest.
Hey Mike. Always watching and enjoy your vids. Thanks
great video, thankyou.
loved the seinfeld reference btw. : )
i noticed road shoulders seemed to be a bit of a rarity much of the time.
Yeah, some of the roads around here are very old. So the demand for a shoulder wasn't that important at the time of construction.
Amazing video ... thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Loving this informative style video Mike👍
What a great trip and video, Mike. Thank you for investing all the time AND EFFORT (all the time required to set up your video shots like riding down the hill only to ride back up it to capture the shot!) into making this epic video. It was so enjoyable to view. I got to relive some of my memorable travels in Italy through your video, but we traveled about Italy via train, so we didn't get the benefit of seeing all of the landscapes in-between the major cities. Ciao!
Glad to hear that you enjoyed following along. Thanks Sean!
Excellent shows!! Thanks a mill
Brilliant video loved watching your adventure, I look forwards to watching your next trip :)
I am glad that your videos are in Enlish. I understand very well.
Well Done Mike very enjoyable 🙋🏻♂️
Thank you so much for bringing us along!!
Love your videos Mike ❤
Woow congratulations on your editing skills and your trip! You've got an amazing channel Mike!
Mike, really enjoying your tour. Texting you from the States. I also like to tour on my Giant. Thanks for the history lessons along the way. Eating along the way, you’ve made me hungry. Think I’ll go see what’s in my frig. Thanks again. Om!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed following along.
I’m so enjoying your Tuscany ride. Beautiful photography.
Well Done! Very enjoyable video and dialogue.
Wonderful and fascinating story. Very motivating to travel. Many Thanks!!!!
This video makes me want to visit!!!!
**** thank you Mike, for taking us along!
Great adventure Mike. Just recently found this channel, have been watching a lot, I have to say, the production value has improved a lot compared with older videos. Keep improving and here's to more adventures in the future! Who knows, perhaps we'll meet on the road somewhere in Sweden. :)
Fantastisk resa. Kloka ord på slutet här. Det är tyvärr många som inte inser det, att det är nära och kära som gör livet. 😀❤
Great video for anyone considering a bikepacking trip to Italy, thank you! Great video for anyone, period!
Hello Mike,
I somehow stumbled upon your Tuscany trip video. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. You have a great way of keeping the video interesting and informative. Well done.
Neil.
Working my way through this video and.....I love it!!!!!! It may take me a few days to get through but Ithat means I have something to look forward to for the next few days. 😊 Thanks for bringing us along!!!!
I loved this so much! Thanks
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
Over 2 hours of enjoyment. Thanks Mike!
Thanks Dino! Have a nice day.
Exellent story!
I have retraced your steps Mike! A year ago I planned my big European tour and I studied these videos, crazy to see the same sights and landmarks 😅
Quite happy to watch it while cycling indoor !!! Thanks for such amazing video mike!!
Hope you'll have a great ride!
@@BikeTouringMike Hi Mike,come to Greece sometime please,see u soon!
Thanks Mike
Enjoyed it the first time, even better the second. Any tips on bike security in the villages when you want to explore the cathedrals, museums, shops, etc. Always enjoyable, safe biking.
Thanks for sharing your trip Mike.
Making these videos must be a lot of work. From stopping to set up the camera and filming yourself then returning for the camera. Plus the editing when putting it on CZcams.
Have you ever had a camera stolen or run over?
I hope you take us along on more of your .adventures.
Bravo!
When you cycle with other people its always nice to follow the chick because its similar to being a dog pulling a dog sled if your not the leader the view is always the same (azz) you know what i mean Thanks for the video tours
Thank's for all these impressions! I am going to make a tour this year in May, when it's hopefully not so hot and without any Corona masks.😉
That's great! Where are you planning on going?
I start in Milan in mid-May and then drive to Rome via Lucca, Siena and Viterbo. I think in 12-13 days you should manage well. 🚲
Thanks so much for this amazing video, Mike! It will help us plan our upcoming bike tour in Tuscany. Do you remember roughly how much it costs the campsites in that region?
Thank you again! :)
Loved the Tuscany video. I just got my own Kona Sutra the other day!!! What kind of helmet do you use? I want to buy the exact same one. Tom from Cleveland, Ohio
Hi Thomas, sorry for the late reply. I use a Giro Fixture Mips. amzn.to/3MyJu5A
You are crazy!!! :)
I'd love to tour those roads 1 day great video biketourmike. What do you use on your chain on tours?
Hello Mike! Super cool trip! We are thinking about doing something similar. Do you perhaps have a map for your trip? Also, we are a little concerned about the elevation gain/descent, what would you say is suitable for beginners? Thanks!
Hey Mike, no videos in a bit - are you OK? I am not trying to pressure you, but am concerned there has been nothing from you for so long.
Hi Mike. My wife and I just finished watching this video. Thank you for sharing this with us. Question for you. What app/software are you using to guide you?

Wow, what a find. I’m dreaming about cycling from Pisa to Rome and so enjoyed your video. Would you perhaps consider sharing your route maps through any of the platforms such as Strava, Komoot or Google maps? Also love all the info added in your description, priceless for a novice such as myself.
Hi Carike! Sorry for the late reply. I was planning on releasing an e-book with all the facts about the tour, with all the route. But I haven't gotten down to making it yet. But basically I followed the Eurovelo 5 for most of the time and made some deviations from it to be able to go to Florence, Pisa and some other towns.
Thank you so much, looking forward to the book. We have only started our planning (and saving) and hopefully will be able to do our trip in 2023.
Hi Mike. Very well done! The attention to detail is awesome. When I watch this it is if I am along with you. Take care. I hope you will be able to make a trip down the pacific coast (my backyard) in the United States.
Mike…you ok? Hoping your alright!
Italy is a beautiful place. Thanks. Is there anyway to avoid the roads with all the traffic? And how are they to cyclists on these roads?
Very Nice Video, thanks for showing us. I did not unterstand the app with the water, can you write me this in an answer thanks!! ❤ Ahh I found it😂
hi, would it be possible to share the route of the trip. I'm planning to do a trip from Spain though France and ending somewhere in Italy. Thanks
What bike did you did ride with?
Hey, Mike, love your videos. But did really throw away a good roll of toilet paper?!
Thanks! Haha, really had no space for it.
@@BikeTouringMikeyeah, next time just leave it somewhere, someone can use it. Seems like a waste. No pun Just sayin. Good luck!
Interesting
Mike can aerial view I mean drown
Thanks for sharing. If you ever tour the USA by bicycle (which I do not recommend), know that here in Las Vegas we've recently had two deaths from Mexican and black youth deliberately running down white bicyclists. Racial issues and violence against minority whites (now many areas) inspired by left-wing politics is now very common. In the eastern US there are rails to trails (rail lines converted to bike paths) which are safe because you are on a bicycle/pedestrian only trail.
Why were they putting a chain on the blue banana? Let the banana run free!
Better than Bicycle touring pro 🤢🙄
I have to agree; no hipster vibe, just regular human on a bike vibe.
