Visiting the beaches of Normandy as I currently am, I have seen examples of the efforts of Canada's fine navy and its amazing contribution to the war effort on a shoreline far from home. Those remarkable men and women are recognized here for their valiant efforts on D-Day, and its obvious that these grateful people of France know who the heroes were. Canada is not seen as British, or American, but as Canadian. A people who helped save a foreign land from tyranny at great cost, not only because it had to for humanitarian reasons, but because the war was also close to home. It was Canada's war. Canadians of the time knew it.

For sure they will remove this comment. The only 40 anything currently are the desk bound admirals. They are looking back fondly in rememberance. Because the RCN will never again be as good. Never again be manned with superior sailors & adequate naval firepower.
