Escaping Jakarta for Indonesia's SWEATIEST City | Bogor 🇮🇩

  • Following a fulfilling few days in Jakarta, Indonesia's capital, I decided to take a break from the city and catch the next train out of Stasiun Jakarta Kota.
Without any particular plan, I was excited to see where my adventure would take me. After the spectacle of the Dirgahayu TNI military display, and indeed the threat of food poisoning in Glodok market, I was hoping to find something more relaxing for my downtime over the weekend.
The next service was to Bogor, a town that (according to some on-the-move research on wikipedia) was known for its epic botanical gardens (Kebun Raya Bogor) and presidential palace (Istana Bogor).
However, as idyllic as this sounded, I also learned that Bogor is regarded as one of the most overcrowded cities in the world - with 87% humidity and 23 days of rainfall per month...
Alas, my hopes of escaping the clutches of the capital and the heat were dashed, but I was still determined to see the sights and uncover more about the Dutch colonial history.
As I ventured towards the park, past the sign for Alun-Alun Kota Bagor, I soon learned of the city's pollution, which made reaching the gardens all the more of a relief.
Having taken a few selfies with the friendly local Indonesian people, I explored the botanical gardens and made my way towards the presidential palace, and Dutch cemetery to absorb more of what Bogor is about.
Suitably impressed, I left the green oasis and made my way back to the station through the increasing traffic and pollution to catch the train back to Jakarta. But I must admit, given the unreal humidity, I was looking forward to a cold shower and couple of Bintang's at my hotel overlooking Jakarta's epic skyline.

P.S. Given my former professional background as an investment manager, personal finance is something that I strongly believe in.
I'll be working on a side project in the coming months to help educate people around how investments work, sharing some of the tips and tricks that I used in the City before I embarked on my adventures.
In the meantime, you can see which stocks I'm invested in, and how well (or badly) I'm doing, via the link below:
    💹 My stock portfolio (real-time): etoro.tw/3QJ6bcF
Although I've been a client of eToro for a number of years, and would remain so regardless of any affiliate terms, I do have an agreement with them which pays me a fee if you happen to open an account via the link (it costs you nothing extra and is very welcome towards my travels for a something that I'm using anyway).
Whether or not you have any interest in this stuff is up to you - and I wont ever promote it directly in my content. But if you do want to learn more, then you can see what I'm doing in real-time there, and it might perhaps inspire you to take control of your financial future.
(As its the serious world of finance, I'm also required to share this riveting disclaimer: eToro is a multi-asset investment platform. The value of your investments may go up or down. Your capital is at risk. Other fees apply.)

Bogor is one of the city that located in the west Java province. the capital city of west Java is Bandung City. in the west Java there are different City called Bogor, Bekasi city, Depok city, tangerang city that located in the west Java province. so the capital City of Indonesia are Jakarta was surrounded by many City around west Java province. there are still many City are surrounding Jakarta. another city outside of Jakarta you can visit BSD Bumi Serpong Damai city in tangerang. if you go to south Jakarta you will feel the difference lifestyle of Jakarta because in south Jakarta are developing city that many celebrity houses, business man and many more rich people live in south Jakarta because the weather are more coolest than North Jakarta are the lowest land in Jakarta that close to the sea. another district are west Jakarta and east Jakarta as well centrak of Jakarta are the government building are located in Central Jakarta.

and in one city it will devided into different town and every town it will devided into many different villages. every province will be ruled by Governor is the head of every provinces in Indonesia. and Indonesia country will be ruled by our president as the Head of Indonesia country and the capital City of Indonesia is Jakarta . in the future our capital City will be no longer in Jakarta, it will be moving to another Province in East Kalimantan province. Jakarta will be a normal city in the future. all the government officials will be moving to east kalimantan province in the future.
Every province they have their own tradition like language ( local language in every province ), food, music instruments, customs, dancers as well traditional houses in every province of Indonesia. enjoy your travel in Indonesia and you'll surprise with the wonderful and Wonderland of Indonesia are so unique and magically are different from any others country in the world. I don't know what card you use but if you have any of these cards:
    - Emoney, BRIZZI, Tapcash/Jaklinko, Flazz, Jakcard
these cards can be used for KRL (the train you took to Bogor) also KRL, MRT, LRT, Transjakarta bus and any other BRT busses in Indonesia (e.g in Medan/Bali), toll-road throughout Indonesia, convenience store (ask with cashiers first), parking (check for logo). If the one you used in KMT, it's only good for KRL or maybe transjakarta and usually you can get a refund (for the card), the 40K you spent is for the card and credit. Jakcard can also be used for museums around Jakarta.
Alun-alun means city center and usually in a form of park surrounded by roads, for Jakarta it's Monas. If you go to other cities, there will be alun-alun too.
About the weather It's been hotter than usual btw. This year we experience prolonged dry season with rivers dried up even rivers that usually never dry.
