I love that you show the color mixing portion of your painting. Most do not show that part. They do it off to the side. It's helpful in learning how to mix colors.

Challenge yourself to NOT use white or black in a few portraits. Challenge yourself to do a portrait with only using a red yellow & blue.

You can tell who it is, and it's a very good likeness. When I tried doing a portrait of Ronnie Wood, it ended up looking looked like he had been run over with a steam roller.😊
Those awesome color highlights you get un her eyes, for instance the red at 2:49 or the green in the shot right before, did you add or enhance that in post, or did the lighting and her eyes really just reflect the color that well?

Definitely looks like Jess ❤ Instead of adding white, what should you have done ?
You always have to use a little white. But my mid tones used too much white to begin with so the only way to get lighter was MORE white. If my mid tones where more balanced with saturation, while still being lighter than shadows, I would have had more room in lights to uses chromatic colors rather than just blasting white into them. If that makes sense! It’s all a balance and all relative to the overall value structure.
