I’m a Hawaii transplant now living in Las Vegas and as I watch all the Hawaii real estate videos on You Tube, I can’t help but shake my head…the house/condo prices are insane for what they offer….The HOA/Maintenance Fees alone are enough to scare away prospective buyers…Good luck to you and all fellow realtors in trying to make a living selling real estate…😊
The crazy part is houses/condos sell super fast no matter the condition. I worry that true Hawaiian culture will be lost to plain old USA commercialism as the locals get priced out more and more. I say this as someone who has visited Oahu and Kauai and could see things from an objective stance.
@@IKhanNot These recent buyers of Hawaii real estate better hope and pray that the years 2008-2010 don’t repeat itself, especially in Hawaii…the value of many homes, condos and townhomes went “underwater”….If it happens, there’s gonna a whole bunch of angry disappointed people…..People who bought residential real estate during 2008-2010 time frame know exactly what I’m talking about…..
So true about the HOA and maintenance fees!!!
HOA alone is a mortgage payment~~where I live went from 120 too 655 (over a 15 yr period) and we have no gym, pool, no amenities just dead plants, grass, etc.
@@danielroque8504 Isn’t that disgusting?
Prices and quantity of decent homes in Hawaii is inexcusable
Honestly thank you so much for showing and posting this. Definitely can’t afford this and probably same as many local Hawaiians, which is unfortunate. But this vid shows the reality and the real numbers to live in one of the dream homes.
I know prices are inflated, but this seems overinflated.
Respectfully, Mahe is Super CUTE.❤
Mahalo.Thorough and informative.
Great job. 🤙🏽
BTW, awesome video. Keep up the good work.
awsome
I just need a 10x10 spot near a tree for my tent and shopping cart. I think Koa Ridge will work for me.
Better to buy a fixer with a big back yard and build ADU
The first model house 1F is perfect 😩
Awesome video Mahe! I grew up Mililani, went to Mililani, now living in prime Kaimuki but ... dang I like move there lol.
Thanks for putting out great content.
Mahalo, Scott
Thank you for this video. This is your subscriber from the mainland Los Angeles but a resident on the big island. Also, I just want to say that was a great idea with the ukulele in the shadowbox on the wall. I thought about doing something like that but somebody already beat me to it I guess cause I never seen that before. 🤙🏽 this place is nice. I like it. Well thank you for this video. You’re subscriber from the mainland. Or should I say Mahalo🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
I am remembering the huge brouhaha some years ago when this plot of land was being used to farm. Promises of “never developing the land for another purpose. Yeah look at you now. Liars can lie and beggars CAN choose. Pricing our people out of the dream.
Priced out of paradise. Local people cannot afford this.
local people cant afford anywhere in the U.S. hawaiians not special
@@kana4275they are so special. They are one with the land.

Couple years ago 1 in 3 people here can afford a home. Now 1 out of 5 can afford to buy a home
I just finished watching videos of new homes in other states. Is the price of paradise really worth it to you? What is your situation, what do you want and/or what do you need? We all need to choose wisely. After 60 years of living in Hawaii and watching what has happened here (mostly in a negative way), I will be living out the rest of my life somewhere else where my money will actually go further.
I’m with you…..Those lovely beaches, magnificent sunsets and tasty plate lunches are very popular in Hawaii, but, it just doesn’t “hack it” anymore….For sure, Hawaii was once a wonderful place to call home….not today!!
It's worth it to me. I left Hawaii 10 years ago, have lived in Texas, Nevada and California. All of them had their own problems and were more expensive in other ways. Texas loves to talk about affordability and low taxes. Yet it has the highest property taxes in the US, I paid like 6 times more per year then I did in Hawaii. Insurance was 4 times more, heslthcare was more expensive, and the crime and poverty was much worse than Hawaii in every state I lived. Sure I had a bigger house, but at this point I don't care. Mainland culture has become way too toxic. I'm fine with living in a smaller place back home in paradise. Not to menrion the pay is much worse in most of those states, be careful what you wish for, your money won't go as far as you think it will. Unless you are living in the middle of nowhere in a poor state.
@@aaronkamakaze2967 Well then, go back to Hawaii…..You’re clearly out of touch with reality…for sure…And I don’t wanna hear your BS!!
My concern is, this was pineapple fields and the pesticides used over the decades....that dirt is dirty,....
I drove through the area recently and Red Dirt all over the houses and then people hanging what looks like large filters from their windows! Looks horrible. Must be horrible having red dirt blow into your house all day every day!
Question - why do a lot of these newer homes don’t have Central Air ?
Lol same question I ask everytime.
Thanks for the comment and question. Our best guess/opinion: Cheaper for the builder and local preference. A lot of Hawaii people would prefer to cool per room
More cost effective to have split units and heat pump vs central.
I didn’t listen to all the video. What is the price range?
Beer Lab Waipio just closed down. 😢
So ridiculously insanely expensive! 🤦🏻♀️ 😠 I hate the fact that I can’t even buy a home here!!!!
Just saw a documentary on Hawaiians moving away due to pricing. It is sad and seems ethically wrong. Like what we did to native Americans.
People have been moved around this planet since the beginning of time, just look at it as a migration opportunity to see new horizons!
Ha, JohnS. It isn't something to romanticize or compare to events of the past. Moving out of curiosity and interest is one thing but it is a shame that people reluctantly have to leave the place they know and like to live on the wacky mainland.
@@JohnS-gf4sz like a wealthy person stating , “money isn’t everything.”
@@Tr0nzoidthey don't have to move to the mainland, it's a big world.
Most Hawaiians are not being "forced" to move. They just want bigger homes and want their money to go further. Hawaii has always been expensive, this isn't anything new. I did the same thing 10 years ago. And learned my lesson, the mainland has bigger homes sure, but it's more expensive in alot of other areas like property taxes, insurance, utilities, Healthcare etc.... couple that with worse crime, a more toxic culture politically and socially, and i can't wait to move back home to Hawaii. I am willing to give up the bigger home and cheaper gas to live in paradise. To me it's worth it. And I am sure some locals will learn the same lessons, and others will be fine with their choice of moving to the mainland...
Some of the clips in this video, from the perspective of driving by completed homes (not under construction, not the model homes), including clips at 7:34, 7:52, and 25:03, show homes with brown paper in parts of their windows rather than regular window screens. Why is this so prominent amongst a good number of the homes specifically for the Koa Ridge development? This isn't the case for Hoopili video clips, to my knowledge, so I can't imagine it's universally used in newly developed homes. Would there be a risk of the paper retaining moisture for longer periods of time and preventing quicker evaporation and drainage of water (compared to window screens), and would that impact the window sills (on these expensive homes) with water damage as time passes? Why not put regular screens in windows?
This in Waipahu?
Waipio by Costco
Just north of Waipahu, in a neighborhood called Waipio.
Waipio is part of Waipahu.
Remember when they told us this was going be affordable housing? 😅

2024 and Hawai’i is still putting the washer and dryer in the garage🤦🏽♂️
With Hawaii homes, placing the washer and dryer outside or in the garage makes sense if you want more useful living space in the house…after all, doing the laundry outside during the winter time is really not an issue….
Omg that woman is absolutely gorgeous. Like the perfect mix of Afro-Asian-Samoan feminine greatness!😄😄😎💯
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Stop showing million dollar homes we can’t afford.
Homes are to close to one another.
Not for the majority, sorry minor minorities.
Dang girl take a break and breathe, u talk too fast
Trash
I suppose you have to be a millionaire to live in Hawaii. Overpriced homes. No locals can afford these homes.
