The UI improvement ignoring RF2 is massively welcome, ignoring the very few complications that are still present. One can only hope this filters across (no pun intended). Thanks for all the info, really useful to see and really good to see the positivity.
I can't really get over the way the FFB feels. On fanatec wheels, there are bugs, and I don't feel like I'm getting any information from the tires to the wheel. Slow speeds corners there is zero FFB. I do think there is a lot of good stuff in the game, and I'm looking forward to enjoying it when the FFB gets fixed.
I really liked rF2, some of the best physics.
This is looking quite good!
I love RF2 and so far I have really enjoyed LMU, can't wait to improve my ratings this year
The other track is COTA here in Texas. Got my tickets and hotel room already!
I'm going to LoneStar LeMans myself. Got Tix already and booking hotel rooms this week. Gonna start hitting WEC and IMSA races. Don't think I will pay for another f1 race every again
Releasing it before having full VR support is a non-starter for me. I'll revisit in a year or so.
Great feedback Dave. This is exactly what we need when a early access it's released.
Yess Dave is back ❤
Thank you Dave! Great early access review! ❤
finally a good video from a man juging the game as it's an early acces. a lot of content creator are saying its not finished career mode is missing ... well that early acces
Enjoy paying to participate in the beta test.
@@matta2738 is it mandatory ? you decide or not to pay it, i am glad that i can play it for myself, and i pay 30 today to not pay 50 or more in few month
@@matta2738you might be paying for a beta, but I look at it like this: we get to test it, provide crucial info for the game to be successful at full launch, and we have the game for the lowest price. It’s not like we’ll have to pay again on full release
This game was supposed to release fully in a week... Obviously it's early access and not full price atm but it sounds like it's a long way from being the full game. I think I'll wait and see if they actually finish it before handing over my cash.
literally the first minute of the video goes over the reason to pay for it, to help make it better.
@@zachdoran10 you feel free to do that. I don't think I trust MSG to get this game to a point where I will want to play it over other sims. I will be pleasantly surprised if they do and if that's the case then I will likely buy it. Right now I don't think it's worth it so I personally don't want to.
In the same situation myself. I'm pretty dependent on VR support (I never use screens on my rig) and I've been burned with promises already with EA WRC. I'll wait and see if they get around to including it, but won't spend a penny until they do.
@@noelckellyI'm in the same boat. It's looks almost certain VR support will be added and this is definitely the cheapest it'll be. I'm gonna eventually buy it anyway so I'm thinking to just buy it now and save the money considering the inevitable.
@@deanjdk I hope you're right, but at the same time: EA WRC promised VR post launch and months later we're still waiting. It doesn't look like we're going to see it any time soon either. I'm happy to spend a little bit extra on LMU at a later date just to be sure it has it, to be honest. I'm not sure how much more honest MSG are than EA either.
Looks better than i was expecting but i think i'll wait for vr support
Me too
Its really annoying that devs nowadays leave VR support last thing, like Rennsport and EA WRC and now le mans ultimate.
@@mqt5rennsport makes more sense at least, they were pushing so hard for eSports competition and of course nobody uses VR for competition.
@@mqt5 Most Serious sim racers do not use VR. Real Racing Teams don't use V.R. (they use simulators with motion and Monitors) VR doesn't support peripheral vision. V.R. need OP Computer power to run properly and Finally.... the highest percentage of racing game players use monitors. single double or triple. so focusing on a smaller subset would not be efficient financially for a developer. Most of the V.R. subset are not big time Sim racers. the focus and investment in V.R. is going into mixed reality. i.e. apple and meta
@@darwinLee81283I would love to see the data to back these assumptions up. All of the other sims support VR. Modern GPU’s can handle VR as well, so I would guess the numbers are growing rapidly for people who prefer racing in VR. They should be building in VR support from the start and not as an after thought as they will loosing out on a lot of sales. I mean rFactor2 has VR support so why not include it.
Great review Dave..
I’m loving this sim. Thanks for stopping by my stream!!!!!
You're welcome mate 😁
thx Dave.. just bought it as well
Even if you go with argument it’s dlc, for what you get for £25, it’s got to be the greatest and best value dlc of all time in sim racing!
Thanks Dave, games looks good for the asking price😀
I love it and am happy with my purchase.
Great Review Dave. Do you know if it has telemetry for motion rigs. Cheers.
Zilch intro runs ok on triples get to a screen for race, control or continue bricks whole pc reboot same thing shows app open but black screens intro looked good to that point but won’t run at all. I know rf2 runs on my setup when I can get from the pit garage to the pit lane!
I don’t like rf2 at all but I love this game. They are not the same at all
Im really looking forward to trying it in two days time. If you are struggling still with the triple setup Dave, Dan Suzuki just uploaded a guide for it :-) Cheers!
for triple setup
think using the screen width (m), screen height (m), eye distance (m), side angle (deg), bezel gap (m) in common LMU userdata > Config_DX11 file. Just like RF2. yup, worked for me triple fov / screen angles alignment
There is just no shift horizon, except of that everything is there
Hi Dave, thanks for you´re honest review. Love rF2 so this Is pretty much rF2 V2.5 without the mod hassle for S397 when It comes to updates and future content. Yes, It´s limited to LM discipline but that´s not a Issue for me. Aside from little things that need some care, and the fact that for now I don´t care much about VR of triples because I don´t use them, my main grip Is not being able to save In the middle of a 6hr race on offline mode. No need to say why xD. Again, thanks and cheers!
I got it and love it ! I use VR and it works fine
Love your videos
I've raced in lmu for 1 hour now and I'm not sure about it, steering seems weird and ffb feels a tad delayed. I've got high hopes for the future of this game through
Is VR supported now? I heard it wouldn't be at launch, but I'll pick this up if it is. I saw some references to VR in the settings as you were showing us, so I wasn't sure.
Best thing for me is that they stuck the cone in the fence at turn one Sebring................oh yes!
Been there on Iracing for ages
Buy it for sure!!
I bought it a few hours ago. Overall, I’m happy. I love the sound. Right now my biggest concern is the steering. I’m using simagic FX pro and p2000 pedals and I have no telemetry on my wheel and the force feedback will just go wild. I mean violent. Nearly ripped my thumb off. I turned the FF off and it was still wild. Hopefully that gets sorted. Still, I think this game will be great in time. Thanks Dave!
Invert the ffb then it will be fine, I have a simagic alpha mini and it feels just as good as rFactor2
The force feedback settings are kinda confusing. For a couple of them it says do not use with direct drive wheelbases but i found setting those at 0 causes a massive dead spot. Like 20 or 30 degrees each direction produced 0 feedback of any kind and no resistance. Had to turn those up to get a better feeling from the wheel
My take on it is that it is RF 2, but in DX 11 And as for the layout well, I actually enjoy RF two so to me it’s no different how they decide to present it. The loading time here is similar to RF 2 which I have no problem with.
Great overview and I will likely get this today. However I wasn't totally clear if you can save a race as you can in rF2? This, to me, is essential for an endurance sim and one of the key reasons I've raced ACC so much. Many thanks Dave.
When you pit it says session saved, but I couldn't find where to pick it back up
@@davecammthanks Dave.
@@davecammresuming saves must be one of the features coming in the future 😂
You can copy and paste the dx config file of rf2 and get the triple screens working
The biggest problem I have w/RF2 is the UI. The other big problem is the buttons I map get changed every race, sometimes right in the middle of a race. This is especially frustrating when I can't find what is now the pause button/key (twice I tried every button on my wheel and every key on the keyboard w/o success, so ended up force quitting 😖)
Also I struggled getting the FFB decent on my T300 wheel WAY more than any other sim. One time only, did I get everything working properly, I got the best FFB I've ever felt☺️
I haven't been able to get it anywhere near decent since then, as a result I have it virtually off😔. Because of these consistent problems is why I haven't bought any dlc.
The sim that had the most streight forward, progressive changes of any sim I have is R3E.
Locked horizon, lateral sway, & longitudinal sway should all be adjustable, not just on/off. Eg 0-150% (locked to exaggerated)
Also some sort of car tuning advice like a brief description of what each adjustment does, why you might want to change it, and potential neg side effects.
Dan Suzuki did a triple screen setup showing how to adjust your settings in the config file.
You shouldn't have to do that. A game that claims to support triple screens should have that available in the menu.
You can configure the triples in INI file.
Looks so damn good. Clean, sleeker version of RF2 WITH fully licensed WEC.
@@PandaHuntwell obviously… thats the point of early access games
Looks a pretty decent start… is Max going to uninstall also this one or multiplayer connection is more stable now?
Ive only played AC and dont know why I would leave. I love it. LFM and mods...
maybe i need convincing to do something else
2024 has Imola, Interlagos, COTA and Qatar as new tracks, the GT3's and the Lambo, bimmer and Alpine Hypercars
I love rFactor2, but as LMU sits I'm going to pass at least for awhile. I loved the idea of ranked racing native in rF2 and was likely the beta for LMU's online ranking system. However I have one big complaint with rF2 online ranked system, disconnects! Being in North America, the frequent disconnects from Race Control, which causes my wheelbase to oscillate uncontrollably, has soured rF2 ranked for me. I don't see how this would be any better to be honest. It's odd as I never experienced that issue with LFM rF2 races, ever, and assume both servers where EU based. Anyway, as always Dave, another great video!
Looks good - getting it downloaded now.
Wow, thought LMU would be quite another pricetag. Though rF2 not my primary sim, thats a no-brainer bargain "DLC" to me.
My biggest problem is the lack of VR. its looks and feels very very good, the tire model could be ab bit better imo. I dont have the space for tripples, so sadly i can not drive it atm. Much potientioal in it for sure. hope the VR support will not come to late like in WRC. there it should be come in the first update of 2024, now we have the second and still no vr
Having been not paying attention to this game basically the whole time, I for some reason assumed it would be arcade or simcade style. Now that I know it's actually supposed to be a sim, I'm sort of interested, although I will never buy an early access game that is in any way affiliated with MSG.
Not sure if it's a bug but I can't get my steering to align properly with my actual steering input in game using Fanatec CSL DD GT PRO 8nm't
Same here
after a while i was only able to drive the Hypercar class did i mess something up?
I can’t quite fathom why VR isn’t there. It’s not as though it’s a new concept for the engine now is it. Looks good, when they implement it I’ll look again.
You can adjust the fov in the graphics settings with the vertical fov setting. Im on a single monitor with my fov set at 28
Yes on a single, but not with triples 👍
@davecamm ah okay, I just noticed I could change it messing with the game the last few hours. Quite a difficult sim to set up at the moment. Otherwise. Enjoyable for what it is. I hope people don't bash it on too much with it being early access.
vertical fov only ...yet again? ....they never learn...SMH... been like that since they where ISI... every other sim uses horozontal fov... but studio 397 like to bodge everything they touch...
@WacKEDmaN again. It is early access and im really hoping the developers are taking the time to listen to the community to update and optimize over the coming months to turn this into a proper sim before full release.
@@daltoncole342 how many chances are you going to give them?.... theyve never really listened before...what makes you think this will be different...
the whole way its been dropped...changed to Early Access.. new content to be DLC... all screams money grab to me...
I agree with you on the Mods Dave you download them and they are just not up to scratch then you uninstall and before you know it the sim get very dirty and clogged up and you end up uninstalling and reinstalling the sim your better off have good quality fair priced DLC
UI looks great! Actually looks like a game compared to AC content manger lmao
It'd be better than an actual dlc for rf2 and it'd be cheaper since there'd be less tracks/cars to pay for
Are you still using a Fanatec wheel base? Can you please share your settings?
No I'm using Asetek 👍
Wow havent seen the full video yet. Just waiting to hear the ffb and physics is on rfactor level and Im buying! Rally nice set offert both cars and tracks for my taste.
I’m pretty sure it’s going to be built on same foundation as rf2
this generally looks pretty good, but it has same issue with metal fence shading from rf2. Looks like it only shades it properly to about 20m away, with that distracting line running along with you. Why can't they fix this stuff? It really does feel like it's bogged down in 2013 tech. I do love the idea of fixed setup racing though, that would get me back into online.
Yeah that bugs me too
They are very proud of their Credits to put them straight in the main menu...
I had to change my jaw and locked horizon settings because the inside of my cockpit was bouncing so much just like in this video.
I don't quite understand some of the reactions I've seen thus far, looks quite promising, looking forward to giving this a try.
I hear ya. The steam reviews of it are terrible, yet respected youtube sim racing reviewers are saying it's a great start and headed in the right direction.
These games need demos
I dont mean to sound like a gatekeeper, apologies if i do. But from what ive seen its people who arent maybe used to sims who are not liking it. I saw a glimpse of some comments on a review by AR12Gaming that were less than flattering.
@@hainescounterstrike7702 don’t be fooled by the negative comments, this is the best racing sim out there. The multiplayer is pure fun and competitiveness and with the full WEC lineup of cars, it makes the whole thing more immersive and meaningful
It's a great sim, I see a lot of (insert sim here) fanboys finding any little issues with LMU and making a big fuss over it. After being quite active with sim racing community for the last two/three years I'm sick and tired of the tribalism it has. Dave is great at seeing sims for what it is and enjoying what it is.
@@elyessbouzouita5889The best sim out there? That's quite the claim
It looks interesting but I'll just keep it on my radar until triple support is fully up to snuff.
You can configure it manually my making changes to the config file 👍
@@davecamm Oh good deal. That might actually sway me toward playing. Thanks for the heads up Dave.
it was around $15 for me due to steam regional pricing
Like RF2, i just cant get it to look pretty.. I got a 2060 ,i7, 1TB with graphics up to the max , but for some reason like RF2, it just doesn't look nice. Any Ideas Anyone? 🤔
Anybody got problems with force feedback or just me? I don’t have any force feedback at all
As an experienced racer how would you say the AI are on offline? Do you have to set the AI to 100% for eveything to make it competitive?
100% was a decent challenge for me 👍
@@davecamm so maybe 80%for me then!
VR support. I need this!
How did you get it into triples? Because I also have triples but can’t drive on it
Initially I used surround and when you select the resolution you can then select multi display
Happy there's no mods 😲
the game looks very promising, it's a shame that the UI is a bit buggy but it's a small studio that doesn't charge $30 for a car and track combo, so of course they have less money. people are naturally going to see the easy glitches but the driving is absolutely fantastic. there's still maybe a bit too much slip angle on the tires but you don't get absolutely punished for going over it. the collision model looks fantastic, you can rub together and the cars don't explode or do funky shit
Because I love rfactor2 I bought it in a second. To me there is no beter Sim then rfactor2. Have raced iracing for two years juist because of the online gameplay. Know that rfacor2 had online daily race. I lol never look back on iracing again. Way way to expensive. I feel bad I have spent So much money on iracing. Very happy with reactor2 and know we have another rfactor like Sim🎉🎉🎉
I will buy the game. very excited to have Sebring there. Hope they put Daytona as well.
No chance, WEC does not race at Daytona
Does really jump about
I don’t understand the amount of people who don’t understand it’s in early access
Yep, I've watched a few streams and people seem to forget 🫤
The pricing is regional, which is something iRacing needs to do. I paid less than 15 GBP for this game on Steam. With my currency, playing iRacing, paying $14 (taxes) per car and $17 per track + a subscription, which is like $15 per month, is simply ridiculous, and then being locked to a schedule for when I can use those items is outrageous.
I don't think anything will replace iRacing any time soon, but they really do need more competition; it is a good thing. I just think a lot of people who have spent hundreds or even thousands of dollars on iRacing do not want competition. They have invested a lot in their game and don't want anything to take away even a small portion of the player base.
Only you aren't locked in to using certain cars. You can have single player races using any car amd track combo, just like this game.
@@matta2738 No mate, move along with your silly comments. I want to play online. I own a GT3 car, but I can hardly race it online because I don't own enough tracks in the schedule.
Do you still have a relationship with Motorsport Games, that wasn’t disclosed as far as I heard or saw. Just wanted to mention if you’re recommending people to buy it.
If I had I would have mentioned it.
@@davecammno I hear you as you sounded very objective about it. Competition is good and with iRacing’s new update we have a lot of things to look forward to
@@WittyGooseRacing I'm just a sim racing fan like anyone else.
It’s not easy to beat iRacing…say why ? Because pure and only that iRacing has years and years and years of constant development which is difficult to beat for a newcomer. It’s like iRacing put their whole heart in for the simulation. Pure passion. And the rain will highly be the 1 and only REAL RAIN DRIVING like not only visual but handling wise etc…
But still every sim is good in their own way ! 🏁🏁🏁
Aaaaah a UI that doesn’t look like it’s from the 90’s!
Bought it when it was released earlier. I think for an early release game, it is very promising! And as Dave says, for £24.99 I think its absolutely worth the money. Hoping the bugs get fixed asap as I found the settings menu almost unusable. Overall a very good game in the making and i look forward to what it can deliver.
For £25 seems like a good buy, i just hope the multiplayer stays alive & active.
Will this be coming to consoles
The studio said it is possible in the future but they didn't say it's definitely coming. It will also depend on thu success of the title. They are struggling for cash so we will have to wait and see.
I personally hate RF2 but love le mans ultimate
Have no FFB as several Others also.
Have you tried inverting it?
I mean. 24.99. You get what you pay for as they say.
having trouble with the steering bloody feels strange
Make sure you don't have any steering assists on 👍
Just watching the in-car view on video, the car bounces at an almost cartoonishly rate. It looks ridiculous. Has anyone noticed this while actually driving in the game?
The shaking of the camera is going to make me sick
The DLC comparison is flawed, Dave. If I get 12 cars and 7 tracks for a main game that already has 25 tracks, then that's incredible value, raising my track number from 25 to 32. But if I am stuck with 7 tracks, that's not incredible value. I personally see TONS of potential in the game, but right now it's in way too early development to be anything of long-term interest for me. Realistically, we can look at 2025 or rather 2026 until this is in a state of content and functionality where it can rival other top sims.
Those that have rf2 will no doubt buy this. This isn't a 'new' game, it's rf2. This is an add on imo.
@@davecamm But it's a standalone game, it doesn't have any of the rF2 perks, it starts at 0 content-wise which makes it less attractive than a well-priced DLC
Completely re done sound, graphics, shaders, textures and fully licensed tracks. This type of package at half the quality and physics would cost 300$ on iracing.
This game has TONS of potential? Just like rF2? Same was said 10+ years ago when rF2 was released and it never took off. Overtaken by Kunos and iRacing.
@@EKG14 all nice but it's useless to me if it's limited to 7 tracks. I came from ACC, I know how annoying it is to wait for tracks.
this or iracing?
IRacing but this is a great alternative for something different 👍
No vr 😢
The car bounce camera is far too agressive. It is nasty how much the car "dash" bounces around. It's really distracting.
That can be dialed out in the settings 👍
it is truly unfortunate this sim is missing the most important factor to enable it to compete with ACC / I racing ..... the damage modeling . Until its implemented ill make my purchase then . Its crazy that even simcades like forza have a better damage model.
This game is gonna get huge! Physics, sounds, graphics it got it all! Very very very immersive racing experience! Imagine VR!
They never realiy finish rf2, I don't expect better for this one.
does any other title have Bahrain? Why not show us Bahrain?
Why is it pc only
Because PC is the best platform for simracing.
Happy about the GTEs, but little confused why GTEs and not GT3s 🤔
That's just the WEC lineup of cars
Because it's based on the 2023 season, the last season of the GTE class....
I feel this game is too limited. only 7 tracks which I have in other games, 3 types of vehicles, no 3rd party modding, and if you enjoy long endurance racing, fine. Not for me.
I have RFactor and RFactor 2 games which I really enjoy and they have more content and have VR.
I don't have the dedicated time to do long drawn out racing with cars not really interested in driving in Le Mans. When this game gets VR added and the price is on sale, I may just get the game for my offline entertainment, and if they add more tracks to the game which right now I don't see coming if they stick with the WEC series.
I crash every time I try to start to drive.
Have u make a bug repport? It’s what Early Acces is for 😊
No singing?
I missed an opportunity 😁
So..... Ultimate simulator, but puddles do nothing..... Mmmm
